Excellent phone @ this price. I used it as second phone while on holidays and no complaints

    • +1

I'm replying at the top so people can see this.

The second gen(5 inch) is currently $224 from good guys, using the 10% off ebay code. It comes with a free chromecast(~$38 on special). https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/175244

      Comparison between moto g and moto g 2014: http://www.trustedreviews.com/opinions/motorola-moto-g2-vs-m…

      Key differences:
Larger screen, same resolution, 5 inch
      Better camera, 8 mega pixel
      front facing speakers

same size battery = shorter battery life
      cpu = same

        Doing so on his/her behalf.

Great phone, has come down 30% since I bought mine. And will be receiving Lollipop upgrade any day now. Yeah, I know some people will object to no flash memory expansion and no user replaceable battery, but those are not showstoppers for me.

Still own this phone since Feb this year. Awesome phone with no bloatware.

    • +2

I also bought one earlier this year for around $179 and it does everything I need…flawlessly!

  • Might want to mark it as grey

  • Does it matter if it's a grey import to the final consumer. If it's an australian business all the consumer protection applies. My father doesn't have a clue what a grey import is , and eh shouldn't.

    • Actually I don't think ValueBasket is an Australian business. It's mostly overseas similar to DWI and eGlobal. However they might have contracted some Australian business to service returns.

The other "advantage" is if you are buying for a GST-registered business (work phone for example), a grey-imported product might not have included GST thus you cannot claim the GST back in your BAS.

Yes, warranty and business practice issues aside. Grey imports are supposed to be cheaper than Australian stock, therefore you need to know its status before you can judge whether its a bargain or not. Which is of the most vital importance.

    Best dollar for dollar phone.

$169 (not sure if it's the exact model, it doesn't mention "Dual Sim" anywhere), but good luck finding stock

Edit: nvm Officeworks one is only 8GB

These comments are not promising - http://www.productreview.com.au/p/value-basket.html?rating=1… as well as https://www.facebook.com/ValueBasketCustomers.

As noted above, whirlpool also has some horror stories.

    Might be worthy of caution.

Correct. This is a scam site. First hand horror experience.

  • Great phone! have one and it does everything I need well.

why not pay more for 2nd gen? sd card slot etc!

  • From what i know Gen1 >Gen2. Also 16GB version was never available here at retail? (only 8gb) ?

  • I'm after a Moto G, but I would 't trust these guys. The three year warranty sounds to good to be true. Not a bargain in my eyes, anything goes wrong and your in for $500 dollars worth of BS and stress

FWIW I bought a Polaroid camera from these guys in September. They had the best price for the model after discount codes and the purchase timeline was fast and seamless. There was an (automated) followup to make sure I received my order. Happy overall. Haven't read the other reviews but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend based on my experience.

    • Well you are lucky. Most people do not get their products. Heaps of emails to show that they are professional and working on it. And when I asked for a refund they again replied with some bogus emails until I threatened to report to ACCC and Hong Kong consumer affairs.

  • +1

    do these support Android 5.0?

    • +1

yes they should get it within 2 weeks

  • mm, wonder how this compares to an Huawei g630

  • Well, good luck to those who jump in and try ordering with VB. My HTC one m7 arrived 5 days after ordering from DSE so you never know just how it will turn out.

It's possible that the people who get burned are just very vocal online and that there are also a lot of happy customers or there.

You're rightly frustrated, but stick to the facts. Many of the reviews show that people have received their products. Given a rep is replying to most of the negative online reviews (seeking order numbers, issuing refunds etc) perhaps they are trying to clean up their act.

Looks like they are mostly guilty of advertising products they don't have in stock (and then trying to source them after the fact which is taking much longer than the published delivery time frame…)

While in no way excusing shitty online selling practices, It's SO easy to request a credit card charge reversal from your credit card provider and get your money back that way (let the merchant and credit provider deal with it) or to lodge a paypal dispute. I don't know how people manage to let these issues with back and forth emails and threats of ACCC etc drag on…

  • i got this phone in just over 4 business days very happy with their service.
