Another cheap offering on the Google Pixel 7 (128GB).

Branded as Telstra so I'm going to assume it's locked. Maybe same as Bing Lee stock so if anyone that purchased from there could give an indication.

Shows colour as White in the product details but the image is of Lemongrass.

Yup. Comments reporting back saying it’s unlocked. Unsure if this one is

    • is it locked with Telstra? will we be able to use this abroad with other sim?

      • +1

I can confirm the Telstra deal is not locked. I do not know about this one.

        • Have you confirmed with Telstra chat? As I had a chat and they told me its locked and only boose and telstra provider can use it

    • Hey team, do we know if this can be purchased outright in store? Can't get one delivered as an Aussie ID is needed, but I'm keen on picking one up before I go back home 😁

      • +2

Try buying with click and collect? Most stores will hand things over with just the email confirmation (no ID), and even then, if they needed it…let them refund/cancel it bc you have no ID, let it go back on the shelf, and then buy cash :))

        • You sound like you've done think before ;)

      • +1

I bought one yesterday in store. They didn't check my ID. Best to call up to see if they have stock but they're pretty lazy to pick up. No stock in Rhodes when I called but I grabbed mine at Mac Centre.

  • Wow thats an atl. There was the 256gb one but its $249 earlier.

    • +17

Some like it small. GSM Arena (released Oct 2022).

No micro SD or 3.5mm jack.

      • +2

No micro SD or 3.5mm jack.

Pixels have never had a micro SD card slot, and the only models that ever had a headphone jack was the original Pixel, then the Pixel 3a and 4a.

      • Get with it.. sounds like you should buy an oppo

    • So the battery life won't be great, right?

      • +14

The battery has been sitting unused for 2-3 years as this is a 3 year old phone so it won't be as good as new. This model never had long battery life even when new.

        • One day phones will have batteries that can be replaced easily like your TV remote.

          • +33

@WatchNerd: Once upon a time they did 🙁

            • -1

@shxhshzhz: When they weren't waterproof though.

              • +4

                @Tleyx: Samsung Galaxy S5.

In many ways the best phone that I ever owned.

              • @Tleyx: Plenty were.

And plenty that werent had replacement backplates that left only the buttons and 3.5mm points of ingress.

I had a galaxy note 2 with a double size battery and a waterproof backplate.

              • +4

@Tleyx: Let's be realistic they're not waterproof now

          • +1

@WatchNerd: Not if the companies want better profits? What's in it for them?

          • +1

@WatchNerd: This comment feels surreal. We've come full circle

          • @WatchNerd: I remember the s2, was cool having a spare battery to pop in, first of the oled screens. Didn't last long anyway. The P7 was on but liked the 8 better. The P7 was unnecessary heavy copying apples dumb piano gloss finish. I'd probably prefer a P5 as a burner.

      • It'll be fine with battery saver mode or a custom rom

      • +4

A smaller screen means better battery life, all other things being equal.

    • +3

It's actually a good size, and feels nice in the hand, with the balanced weight distribution.

      • +6

        That’s what she said.

      • -1

Is that what your boyfriend said.

        • What do you mean?

    • That's a good thing. Not that I would count six god damn inches as in any universe "small".

  • +1

additional 5% Does not work anyone want to confirm?

    • -2

Why would anyone want to pay additional 5%?

      • Sorry 5% OFF but got my answer

Amazing how stores still have so much stock of these 3 year old phones

Note: Only 2 years of updates remaining

    • +1

Note: Only 2 years of updates remaining

      That's official updates.

Since developers update their ROMs with the latest security updates, it could go longer,
but Google are requiring independent developers to sign up to their Developer program,
so ROM development has some uncertainties in the near future.

      • +6

Many people use official updates and do not use custom third party ROMs

        • +4

          That's fine.
          We are both correct.

Many people will rely on official updates.

Beyond what many people will keep relying on, some people will continue to get official security updates,
except that it will be via custom ROMs, eg. GrapheneOS, iodeOS, crDroid, Matrixxx, etc.

Different strokes, for different folks :-)

Good thing about Pixel phones are, the bootloader can be re-locked.

  • +6

USUALLY if it comes with a prepaid SIM card, it’s locked. As this doesn’t mention a sim, I think it might be unlocked… but strange that they advertise it as “Telstra Google Pixel 7” if it’s unlocked

    • +4

That's not true. The one for Telstra comes with a SIM and is unlocked.

      • is it locked with Telstra? will we be able to use this abroad with other sim?

    • is it locked with Telstra? will we be able to use this abroad with other sim?

    • I got the 256gb from Telstra. There's literally the pixel 7 box in a telstra box which also has the sim card and some extra booklets.

      • Was it locked to telstra mate?

  • +2

You might be able to get additional 5% off signing up to the newsletter. I signed up but nothing has come through yet.

I just tried — apparently the 5% signup code doesn’t work for phones.

  • -1

can we get 256gb for 199 by black firday? this has esim so i might get one at that price

    • -3

Maybe you can try ask AI.

    • is it locked with Telstra? will we be able to use this abroad with other sim?

  • Fkn hell. PayPal took the money but didn't process the purchase

Then trying again with cc and it says out of stock

    • Same thing happened to me

      • Ugh. It's a pending payment so will bounce back in a few days. Annoying tho

  • Possibly out of stock for delivery as just got a "some of the products are out of stock" message at the payment step of checkout.

  • Cheers boss, my g55 from Kmart got cancelled (should have done C&C, my local 3 had stock at the time) and this will have to do.

Welcome back, unlimited Google Photos storage, I missed you.

    • +6

Free photo storage (even lower quality) ended with the pixel 5

      • Damn, I really am out of the loop

      • What about with custom rom? Pixel experience had a built in setting to identify as a pixel 5

        • +1

Yea if you go down that route then there's options. Last time I used custom ROMs and stuff things like PayPass stopped working and some bank apps didn't work because of security, so could limit daily necessities?
          Unless that's not a thing anymore 💁

is it locked with Telstra? will we be able to use this abroad with other sim?

    • +14

I am so happy that you asked only 39 times the same question.

      • nobody answered my guy

        • Actually they did, but you don't like their answers.

          • -7

@dlovep: aah swish, you used your last braincell today..

        • I wonder why Avery

  • I know it's marked as out of stock, but might be worth trying your store anyway…Moe is still marked as having stock, I'll be grabbing mine in-store Monday, if that turns out to be true lol

  • Back in stock!

    • No stock, but you can still order.

  • Hmm. Was thinking of a new phone during Black Friday but this is a tempting replacement for my A33.

  • +1

You can unlock this phone as advised by Telstra by chat, they directed me to https://www.telstra.com.au/support/mobiles-devices/unlock-ph…

    •  Once you’ve located your phone’s IMEI number, contact us so we can provide instructions on how to unlock your device, and if an unlocking fee will apply.

      for a fee

  • -2

Just wondering what’s your use case in buying this 3 years old phone in 2025?

    • Upgrade for some. Spare phone. Kids play phone. Travel phone. Gift phone. Work phone.

      • -2

Bad idea for a kids play phone, they are either young and can use anything or older and need a flagship surely. Not to mention why not just give them an old phone if they can use anything?

    • +2
      • Spare phone to take while travelling (once carrier unlocked). Might be going somewhere with risk of theft (UK) and don't want to take a Pro or Ultra phone with you.

      • Office phone for a small business.

      • kid's first smartphone

      Plenty of reasons.

    • +2

My 2yo phone was crippled after the 3g shut down - only works with Optus. This 3yo phone will get me on Boost network for the next 2-3 years without spending too much, and I like a non-bloat Android.
