NetGear R7000 Nighthawk Router $188 + Shipping @ PLE

40

It's not the cheapest ever but it's the cheapest atm according to staticice. Shipping is about $13 to Sydney so it's probably more of a deal for people who can pick it up in Perth/Melbourne.

  • Are these good? I need to upgrade my modem

This is not a modem so no.

Edit: Sorry, it's been a long day and that was blunt.

No, these are just routers or else I'd have snapped one up too.

oh its just a router? Damn!

  • I've been looking at these the last couple of days for NBN as my old modem has no WAN port.
They get good reviews, as does the Asus RT AC68U. I'm tossing up between the 2 at the moment.
(*MSY is $195 for the Netcomm and $215 for the Asus. I may try to get OW to Pricematch the Nighthawk - not easy from what I read)

    • I price matched msys price at office works for this router a couple months ago. Very good value router, I have loaded dd wrt for some fun as well. It may be worth paying a bit extra and getting the r8000, can be had for about $250, tho probably not as good bang for buck as the r7000

Late Friday, I came to OW Yarravile asked them to pricematch the Netgear R8000 Nighthawk x6 Router.
At that time, PLE had it for $245 and OP $399.
    Easily done.

I have TP-Link AC1200 modem-router (bought for $100 2 wks ago) which I use as a router only. I have 100mbps cable internet and my cable modem doesnt have 5ghz band so I thought that I might try the AC things.

The TP-Link AC1200 5ghz only helps give arround 45 - 55 mbps to my phone. I was disappointed and thought that I might need to pay big bucks to get the Netgear R8000 Nighthawk x6 Router. Results: same thing. The 2.4ghz band on any modem or router I have would give the speed around 5 to 10 mbps slower

So, if you dont have the need for fast file transfering between your devices, then I reckon you dont wast money testing them out like me. Any AC modem and or router would do.
