    "Memory size: 4GB"

    LOL Telstra

    • Obviously meant to say 2^4 rather than just 4. Obvious typo ;)

  • I think they have a typo - at one place on that page they list the memory as 4GB.

  • that should be RAM size?

  • capacity is 16GB if I am right

Correct me if I am wrong but this is the only local stock of this tablet available, so would logically be the cheapest. This is the normal RRP not a special.

    • not normal RRP price, just checked with StaticIce

      • This is Telstra's normal price, not on special as far as I am aware.

  • It's the same price on the play store. But not sure if that has P/H costs.

    • free delivery and based on Australia Consumer Laws, it comes with 24 months of warranty too

Why would they sell tablet with Wi-Fi only?

    • because not everyone needs cellular, the LTE version is coming soon, which i am waiting for.

I think he is asking why Telstra is selling a non cellular model? Considering all they are making money on the device cost. It would make sense if they were only selling the LTE model, but the LTE model hasn't been released yet so maybe they are testing the waters to how popular the device maybe.

        • Telstra are trying to also sell their Wifi portable modems with it, or even in the long run their home broadband so you can use wifi with it.

  • Just a heads up, some tablets are suffering from bad cases of screen bleeding.

  • The LTE Version is 32GB and retails for about $720 AUD on Google Play store so a much more expensive proposition.

  • I purchased one a couple of weeks ago. Now on my 3rd device and still not happy with it.

    • Screen failure with first unit
    • Power issues with second (plug in to charger, and unit would power itself up every time)
    • The third device seems to operate fine, but the rear cover is very flimsy. Hard to explain, but if you gently press in the centre, you can feel the separation between the plastic/compound cover, and the battery below it.

For a premium device it has been a truly atrocious experience. I've lost count of the number of tablets (mostly mid-high end name-brand) I've owned over the years, but in terms of build quality this Nexus has been the worst.

I also own the note Pro 12.2, a Galaxy S 8.4 LTE and have had no issues with their quality.

That sounds terrible, especially when the tab s hasn't got great build quality either. It sounds like all early nexus devices have dud quality control, but you expect better at this price point. Really this should be $100 cheaper considering the build quality.

    • What do you do with all those tablets?

      • Depends how many toilets he has ;)

  • Yes I think that Telstra will be regretting agreeing to sell this one. It has a lot of QC issues and it is a pity that HTC have cut corners in the manufacture. The only reason I would consider the N9 is the fast CPU and the fact that it can support the latest Android OS. If there is a good alternative (and not an iPad!) then would consider that. I also owned a Samsung Note Pro 12.2 and it was well built but just not up to par with the N9 in terms of response speed. I think the NVidia Shield is a fast tablet though from what I have read.
