NOD32 $25.97 for 12 Months @ Pro1 (35% off)

eset35

Great offer if you ask me.

ESET is a very lightweight antivirus that has a high detection rate with a very low false positive rate.

I have used it for many years!

The 35% off code applies to any ESET product on their website. http://www.pro1.com.au/shop/

I also have used this for years and highly recommend

  • this is a good anti virus software. if i can remember correctly i got it off eBay for 3 years license of smart security edition for the same price as op. all you need is the legit username and password.

  • 50% off for anyone in the education sector through eset directly. Just purchase the software at full price then send them an email [email protected] with the order number and education postal address from your education email address for the refund. Eg. Nod32 is $20/yr

  • Bitdefender has better detection (http://chart.av-comparatives.org/chart1.php) and is usually free (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/174665). I'm not sure why you'd choose this over that. Kaspersky is another that's good and you can get keys for around $10-15 from Newegg regularly.

This uses computer resources very efficiently compared to the other two.

It doesn't nag as often as the others.

      • Yes, it is true that it has the least impact on system resources, although Bitdefender and Kaspersky are almost as good in this regard: http://www.av-comparatives.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/av…

        Real-World Protection Tests:
        Bitdefender 99.4%
        ESET 98.6%

        PC Mark:
        Bitdefender 97.7%
        ESET 98.8%

        Cost:
        Bitdefender $0 (2 * free 6-month keys)
        ESET $25.97

Edit: I personally couldn't be bothered with refreshing free BD keys every 6 months so I bought a 3 PC / 2 Year sub to BD Total Security for $US9.95.

I went for eset due to it being so light over bitd, in my case anyway. I also think there is a lot to be said for a software that is rarely given away with free months or discounts

I found Bitdefender very intrusive - it wants to take over and/or embed itself in apps, security etc. The difference in detection rates for the top anti-virus programs is negligible . ESET has been in the top 3 for many years.
