Free Parking over Christmas in Parramatta NSW

560

Like last year, Parramatta City Council provides free parking over Christmas. I suppose it's cheaper than overtime for the inspectors… and who knows, maybe they deserve a Christmas break too.

So, if you're silly enough to want to go to a boxing day sale in Parra Westfields, park on the streets to avoid the mayhem that is westfields carpark.

Time limits still apply.

More info here: http://www.parracity.nsw.gov.au/your_council/news/media/2014…
Parking will also be free on 31/12/14 and 1/1/15

  • Discovered this unexpectedly last night when we went to get Messina. Very pleasant surprise :-)

  • park on the streets to avoid the mayhem that is westfields carpark.

Hahahaha, the streets of Parra can be just as chaotic if not worst. Still a good thing to know, cheers!

      Agreed… but:

Free parking leading up to Christmas and on Boxing Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day will apply for all Council parking meters and facilities in Parramatta including Erby Place, Horwood Place, Hunter Street and Wentworth Street car parks.

Horwood place and Hunter street car parks, also free, are within walking distance of westfields.

This has been happening for last 2 years. Although Parra westfield does not open on boxing day; I have seen lot of people who have made the mistake of rocking up to Parra westfield on boxing day as i used to live pretty close to it

Same here. Went to a Westfield last year in Sydney on boxing day only to find out all the shops were
closed. Only thing open was the cinema and a few take away food stores. Not going to make the same mistake again.

Only NSW and SA stores are closed on boxing day and re-open the day after. All other states seem to be open boxing day.

Says time limits still apply for free parking period. So parking police may still be in force and get a fine if you overstay the time period. Otherwise people will park all day and it will even harder to find a parking spot.

Sucks. had to pay $6 last night at Westfields Parra because I was watching Interstellar in the Cinemas and went over three hours. Conceige and Hoyts didnt stamp my extra time.

    • Aren't you supposed to validate that yourself ?

      • I asked the Conceige and Hoyts and they didnt validate it.

  • will tried all best to avoid parking in parramatta if possible. as difficult as get a park in city

  • Every Xmas Parramatta Westfield is the worst place to get in or get out of the car park you could be sitting there for an hour…

I guess this deal make it people can park on street free
