  Damn… looks like $2K is the new benchmarch price for 70" TVs (and just $3K for 4K res)

  Doesnt help the resale value of the Sharp 70" FHD TV I've had sitting in a corner meaning to sell for the past few months :(

    I think the Sharp brandname killed that long before this was on offer.

      Yeah I read the comments in the other thread about issues with this Sony.

      Sharp is an OK Japanese brand - not as premium brand name as Panasonic or Sony - but Sharp provide a 3 year standard warranty (of which my TV is only half way through) and Id generally pick a Sharp over a Soniq or Palsonic etc. Sharp has been around for over 100 years and has USD$28 Billion annual turnover, so they must be doing something right.

      I own this set, bought at full price, so, a little spewing at the discount, but all tech depreciates, so, no surprises.

      With the caveat that I don't watch 3D and only blurays, this TV has been really good for me.The panel is apparently consistently LG, unlike with Samsung where you plays the panel roulette.

      Now, there's a little edge bleed and clouding that's only visible with no signal and in complete darkness. There's also a vertical streak noticeable when reflected light falls on panel in a certain direction (in my room, the TV is facing outside window). But all this is just pedantic - I've never seen a consumer LCD that's perfect.

      Maybe I won the manufacture date roulette, but in my case, colour, grays and overall fidelity is just great.
