Vax Zen2 Pet Cylinder HEPA filtered 1600W Barrel Vacuum $117 at TGG

70

I went looking for a bagless vacuum cleaner that I could get today from a store. By far the best quality model available at any of the major stores was this baby.

It's not as good a deal as the Godfreys electrolux offer: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/176335
and if you don't need the vacuum immediately then that is a far better option.

For those who need a quality vacuum today this is a great offer.

Usually retails around the $200 - $240 mark.

EDIT: Just unpacked it and used it. Wow, it certainly does suck :) It is very powerful for a 1600W motor.

What I didn't realise is that the unit comes with 3 separate head attachments: the Turbo head, The non-turbo head and a smaller upholstery head. It also has a curtain brush and a thin corner attachment. I used it for about 20 mins and it didn't turn itself off. So maybe they have improved this model (it's a Zen2, not a Zen)

  • I have a Vax (non pet) Zen vacuum cleaner. Really good units. Suction still strong today and it has gone through quite a lot.

We have a VAX zen with power head model and would not buy another one. It does a good job until it over heats and shuts down every time it is used. Have sent it away twice to be fixed and told nothing is wrong with it. So i have bought the Electrolux that was posted the other day and hope we have more luck with that one

  • That is a good price, however this isn't a very good vacuum cleaner.

We had one of these Zen vacuums (non pet one), but sold it not long after getting it.

Suction wasn't the greatest and it was impossible to vacuum my car without the unit turning itself off after only about 15 minutes of use due to overheating. After giving the vacuum 30 minutes to cool down I could continue again.

Godfrey's advised this is normal and is an inbuilt safety feature - that's fair enough but not very practical. The vacuum did seem to run very hot and was being used on a cool day and undercover when vacuuming the car.

We now have the OzBargain 'eneloop' equivalent of vacuum cleaners - a Henry Numatic. It's leaves the Vax for dead. If you think the suction on a Vax is good, you'll love a Henry Numatic. Plus it doesn't turn itself off

Thanks for your reviews guys, i was planning to buy it, i will give a miss wait for another one.

    • It might be worth noting that this one is a pet model and is actually a new version of the Zen model.

      It is the Zen2 pet.
