Tile Cutter - 300mm Capacity $10 @ Masters, Taree NSW

20

300mm tile cutter in a specials bin along the tile section aisle. When purchasing mine earlier today there was about 10 left.

One of the customer service staff demonstrated 4 cuts on a 150mm x 150mm x 5mm ceramic tile and the cutter worked fine. He did say however, if cutting stone type tiles or thicker tiles you'd need to purchase a trade type model costing $300 - $400.

(Note tried to upload a photo however timed out on my 3G service. Unfortunately a generic link to the Masters website.)

Edit: thanks to 'nickxau' I've updated URL to the model of the tile cutter

  • Is it this one but for $10?

    • Sure looks like the one …. except the one I purchased has a grey base.

thats not the tile cutter.. the brand for $10 is from their "I Need A" range..
Saw the same ones at a local masters over the last few weeks (and intend on getting one for a small laundry wall tiling job shortly), just need to work out how to do tap holes…

        • Yeah, I guess the Masters' customer service gentleman who demonstrated 4 actual tile cuts to me prior to my purchase was David Copperfield …..

          @WrightAnvil:

          what?
Im not arguing that you purchased a $10 tile cutter, I've seen the same one at the local masters..
Im telling you 100% the one nickxau linked to ( and you updated your link to ) is not the one for $10

The $10 one is the branded 'I Need A' (which is masters 'home' brand), the one you linked to is branded 'Tilers Choice'

The 'I Need A' branded tile cutter is not available on their website (which is why you cant find it)

  • Damn it, I need to cut 600mm tiles.
if only 2 could combine forces to make a super tile cutter.

      or combine 3 for a 3D printer.

    Guys,
from my experience after recently doing a DIY tiling job,
Stay away from this tool, I bought a very similar if not the same one at bunnings.
Its a piece of junk, doesnt really score a straight line in the tile. And the flimsy metal bends.

I suggest you fork out a bit more money and get a decent second hand cutter.

    my 2 cents

Oh my goodness thank god I was not the only one having trouble!!!! I think the Bunnings one was like 25 bucks and looks exactly the same. I ruined 12 tiles to get 2 cuts right and the tiles were just normal white ceramic. Took it back and got a refund - I did not expect it to be good but I did expect it to cut tiles. I want to +1 because op has done well finding at the price but also want to -1 because it will cost you so much more in wasted materials and pride.

avoid getting a second hand cutter as there is a reason it is being sold: the cutting wheel is stuffed! this cutter will be good, you just need to remember that when cutting tiles you got to press really hard on the cutting wheel so that you make a deep score in the tile, otherwise even with the most expensive cutter, you will simply not snap the tile straight.
