  • Are these things any good? I was considering getting one to plug my phone into when playing golf as I need the GPS on constantly. Would a power bank be suitable for that or are they used for charging flat phones?

    • Yes, they will work fine for that. Atleast I used it for a similar purpose while navigating around the states.

    • yeah you can use it whilst it's charging, doesn't need to be flat. useful for whenever you need extra juice.

    • +3

A powerbank would work for your purpose just fine.

Powerbanks are just a portable source of power. You can use them in exactly the same way as you would any other wired power source.

    • +2

From what I've read online, this brand is actually fairly good at making them - using premium or close to premium quality batteries. There's a lot of medioicre ones on ebay.

    • I have the 16000 one…phone charges faster than most non-portable chargers

    • I have one of the 10400 mAh ones; apart from what others have said, I don't like that there's only one USB port and I don't like that the aluminium casing is so hard. I've recently taken it overseas and it's now all scratched up. It has probably cased some damage to other devices tumbling around in my backpack.

The aluminium looks nice but plastic would be a more practical choice.

Is this genuine??? Wish to have one as well.

    • +6

I purchased mine from banggood and it was 100% authentic. They give you a code to check whether it is real and if anyone else has entered in the same one.

    • Mine came genuine too.

  • +2

    Thanks zerocritical :)

  • I want one too if they're genuine I already got a fake one :(

    • Just curious, how did you find out it was fake?

    • -3

almost certainly a fake at that price.
Note they use the word 'original' - unless it's advertised as 'genuine' it is fake in my book.

      • +4

Buying directly from Xiaomi Taiwan is $13.70 for the 10400. Sadly the fake ones cost more than the real ones.

  • +1

thanks op… tried them first hand. very impressed.

  • +2

Any deals on the 5200mah? Can't get this coupon to work on it. Need something smaller.

PS: Original Xiaomi has hologram and serial no. on box that you can verify on their site.

    • Not a huge discount but try this:6e6e0b for 5% off.

  • Genuine?

  • Where did you guys get you're genuine ones from???

    • +4

Mushtato seems to be a reputable seller, you can also find them on eBay AU seller for a little bit cheaper

      • +1

I have bought two from Mushtato and they were genuine. Great customer service, too.

    • Mine was from banggood.Though I was skeptic in the beginning, it was fine. Took about a month to deliver.

    • +2

      Mushtato

  • +2

Price is better than the previous deal, but delivery is very slow. Still waiting to verify for all u ozbargainers!!!!

    • +1

I bought a genuine 10400mah in Malaysia last year for $10AU.

Haven't received my 16000mah one yet from their last deal, hope it's genuine!

      • +1

        Received my 1600mah today.

Scratching off the sticker also rubbed off one of the numbers.

I had to guess one of the digits. Out of 9 numbers, 1 came up with a valid response.

So i can't 100% be sure mine is genuine!

        • got the same prob with 16000 packaging. rubbed off almost 5 numbers!! think this new line of product has new batch of stickers with lower quality. but it works as a charm, charged my iphone at least 5 times in one go.

  • Ordered this just late last week.
    https://www.fasttech.com/products/1988900

:/ a shame on the $ but damn, hope it's legit, anyone else had experience with them?

    • I'm not sure if this may be an indication of it being counterfeit, but I question the fourth image where 16000mAh is inscribed at the top then it says 10800mAh at the bottom.

    • +2

FastTech doesn't lie. If they say authentic, it's gonna be authentic :)

      • Awesome, thanks dude

        • No worries, I've spend too much there than I'd like to admit.

and FYI, the Australia Expedited Air shipping option is awesome. Extra 2 bucks, but takes 10 days or less, even for batteries

        • @mr kindface: I was already paying 6 or 7 more than the deal here so you know, 3 weeks / 4, I'll deal with it. Be nice to have a genuine quality thing which might last a long time

  • The lowest price I can get with any of the colours using the code is 18.05USD (not USD $16.45). Anyone?

    • +1

The code is a $3 off the price. Current price is $19.45 for silver. Just tried and the price hasn't changed. Do you see a different price or discount?

  • +2

Thanks zerocritical. I ordered the 16000mAh.

  • +4

I ordered the xiaomi pistons off banggood and they were fakes! Others from ozbargain were also stung:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/145967

    • I just want to point out that on the linked banggood site (last picture of 16000mAh link) the white colour difference between the 16000mAh and the 10400mAh in the pictures, apparently the less white one is the genuine look and the milk white one is what fakes have.

I'm not saying it's a fake but another user linked to a "how to spot fakes" in here and that showed up as one of the things.

Perhaps someone with both that they know is genuine can comment on whether the colour did change between models?

      • I think the link mentioned that both the USB as well as Micro USB connector needs to be white. Fake ones have Black microUSB connector. From the pic it looks like both are white. I may be wrong.

    • You can ask them for a refund. They realised it's a fake. I had mine refunded and you don't have to post back the fake one.

      • +1

Yep mine was also refunded. I didnt post the fake ones back either but they were so bad I didnt use them anyways.

    • +1

Selling previously sold fakes yet now is claiming products are genuine?
      Smells like bullshit

  • +6

mushtato… we waiting for you… i know you read this thread !!! come and give us discount on 16.000mAh !!! :) :) :)

  • I have one of these and right after a few weeks weeks of usage the port to charge has sinked in, causing the cable to be flimsy "loose being unable to charge, any idea what to do?

  • Deleted comment.

    • +1

Did you select the silver one? And did you apply the coupon?

      • +1

        Thanks zerocritical, ordered one now.

  • 16000 should be around $33.50
    10500 should be around $20

I feel jipped from the Mustashi deal compared to these prices but moreso on the 10500 which is alot cheaper to buy on its own. The average price of the two works out about the same if you buy them together like the Mustashi deal.

    • +1

I'd rather support the other store as they are confirmed legit Xiaomi power banks… the ones sold by banggood are a bit of a gamble.

  • +1

Well done OP :) I missed out on the other recent deal so I'm glad to have bought one today!
Anyone know how long the average waiting time is for shipping?

    • i think it will take about a month..

  • I think it just expired :(

    • I had it in my cart and when I went to pay it went back up to $29.99. Now it says invalid code?

      • I think that goose is cooked. I'm just gonna wait til they get cheaper. Which they will

      • Same problem,
looks like it was disabled as soon at the HK office opened at 9am local time.

    • Marked it as Expired

  • +1

i see different price in USD & in AVRG AUD :(.

  • Any deal on the slim version?

  • I bought the two of these batteries sometime in December. I currently have the 16000mah plugged into the wall, with my phone plugged into the 16000 at the same time, in order to have both devices charge and to ensure the portable battery is always at maximum capacity. Is it bad that I'm doing this? As in, will having the battery plugged in all the time degrade it at all?

    • It will probably reduce the usable life of the device.

    • Only charge the power bank when you anticipate you will be using it. Don't leave it on the AC or operate it as a pass-thru device to charge your phone every night. It's pointless and even possibly detrimental to the internal battery in the long term.

  • I will be in HK shortly,
Where would I be able to buy a genuine one in Hong Kong at a good price? Would it be cheaper than this deal?

  • +1

16000mAh is showing as AU$38.10 and using code 6e6e0b brings it down to $36.20 delivered. 10400mAh = $23.47 delivered.

  • I have the 10400mAh one and it's great. Only thing is I can't figure out the purpose of the 'power' button?
If you plug a device in, it automatically turns on. If you are finished charging and press the 'power' button, it doesn't even turn off. It automatically turns off by itself after a few minutes.

Am I stupid or is it just my powerbank?

    • mine doesn't automatically detect my phone on occasions for some reason so it begins the charging for me. When you press the power button it shows you how much charge is left using the small white lights on the top

  • Well, that was fast. My order is showing as shipped. It won't take a month to arrive after all.

  • Bad deal, expired within 10 minutes.

    Nothing but publicity.

    • This deal lasted for a good 12 hours. How 10 mins?

  • +3

Has anyone received their order yet?

    • +1

I have ordered since 5/01/15 but still not receive too.

      • +1

you will get it early Feb i reckon

    • nope, if i don't receive it by feb, i'll start a paypal dispute

    • I received one out of the two I ordered yesterday.

  • Just got it today. Working good. A bit heavy than I thought.

  • Mine arrived today. On charge now.

  • Mine just arrived as well. Trying to check whether it is genuine or not using their code checker(http://order.mi.com/service/dyscode) and I can enter my code in but I can't pass their CAPTCHA verification because I can't read nor write chinese characters….
