Bonus 22" and 26" LCDs with Selected Samsung TVs

310

Starting today, a bonus 22" or 26" LCD TV will be offered with the purchase of these products:

Eligible TVs

For example, the LA40B650 can be picked up for under $2000 and you will get a free 22" LCD TV with HD tuner with it (plus postage of course). This is obviously competing directly with Sony's free PS3 deal, keep an eye out for what LG and Panasonic might be doing.

I believe Samsung LCDs are some of the best quality and best value units out there, so this deal just sweetens things a bit more. I will update the post with some specific deals from retailers as they become available or others post them in comments.

Enjoy!

  • This deal is similar to the one they've done 2-3 months ago

    • They've been running this deal since late 2007 actually, I picked up my Samsung back then, got a free 19" LCD and put it on eBay :)

  • Sony and Samsung have the same high quality LCDs. They have a joint venture factory in Korea called S-LCD (though technically owned by Samsung with 51% share holdings). The CEO of S-LCD is also on Samsung's board of directors. So I guess technically speaking, they're all Samsung screens.

    • Yep, they are all Samsung screens, but the panel is just one part of the picture (so to speak), the image processors and other electronic components make a huge difference - and I think Samsung are even better in this aspect than Sony. Most of the equipment in a Samsung TV would be manufactured by Samsung themselves (flash memory, RAM, ARM processors, etc) where as Sony would be picking up pieces from many other manufacturers.

At the end of the day, they're both good TVs, I just find Samsung sets to have a better picture and to be much better value for money :)

From next year onwards, panels will be coming out of Sharp & Sony's 10th gen factory in Japan.

      • Only problem is Samsung's out of date LED screens.

We get the inferior 200Hz Edge-Lit LED in Australia. 8000 series
USA get the 240Hz local dimming LED and at a cheaper price. 8500 series

I wouldn't bother buying an edge-lit in Australia when local LED dimming is the way to go.

  • +1

Think I would prefer a 3-year warranty over a free 22/26" TV. Samsung really shot themselves in the foot by reducing their TV warranty to 1 year.

  • Got the 46" B650 at start of the last +22" special (they only charged $33 for delivery then and the 22" were selling for around $450+postage on feebay). I see they're down to just under $2500 now, quite good for the price (also go the mkv!), but don't get the "LED" ones unless you want to pay more and only watch it from the side while admiring it's thinnesnessingness. Series 8500 which actually has local dimming just came out in USA and costs quite a bit, but unless you're watching it straight on you will lose the benefits again…

  • Got the 55" B650 at the end of the last +22" special also paid $33 but waited 8 Weeks for my 22" to arrive!
Not the fastest promotion! but i did get it in the end!
