  • Can you stack the 20% music voucher on top of this?

    • I have done it before, although others have said they did not have luck. It's a bit of hit and miss. No harm trying.

      • Thanks, will give it a go.

    • Uhmm how do you get this 20% music voucher :( did I miss something?

      • sign up for jb hifi NOW music trial

        • it's not a generic voucher like last time?
edit: there are comments later in this thread that state the voucher doesn't work anymore.

        • @Sage: The infinite JB Now generic vouchers stopped working in early December last year

  • wow, that was quick o_O

Thanks Trent. Was checking just last night to see when this was coming up again as Studio Ghibli has finally released Grave of the Fireflies on Blu Ray, plus I'll get Wind Rises.

such a great anime, sad though.

    • It's Madman Entertainment that distributes releases in Australia, Japan has had the Blu-rays for a while :)

Anyway, if you haven't seen it yet - good luck. I don't think I could ever watch Grave of the Fireflies again.

      • I know its sad, and it isn't typical Ghibli. In fact when I was in Japan last week, I went to the Ghibli store at Skytree and I wondered where all the Fireflies merchandise was and there wasn't any. My boss asked, 'what are you going to buy a doll of a dying little girl' so I guess he is right. But even know it is sad its incredibly powerful movie. Ill watch it again cause I found Nagasaki and Hiroshima powerful places and WWII interesting.

  • I have just signed up to the unlimited music, doesn't seem like you get the 20% off voucher anymore.
    It has expired?

    • There is a screenshot floating around somewhere. Despite it saying it's one time use, everyone seems to use it fine.

      • +1

Can someone please link to said screenshot? I have been unable to locate it.

          @Regie69:

Thanks mate, doing the Lord's work, you are :)

        • @Regie69:
          Do they check your subscription?

        • @Regie69:

          This still works??

        • @soulmind23: They dont check your subscription.
Does it still work??? thats another story. Going to try later today

          @Regie69:

Hello gents, well it does work, but I deduce it will be hit and miss for most I'm afraid. I was lucky and got Dredd 3D and Caroline 3D for $19.20 after stacking the voucher but be warned the code IS expired and it will be up to you and your wits to close the deal. Gl, friends.

Pro tip: go when it's super busy and chances are they'll do it for your to get you out the door.
Disclaimer: This method may or may not invoke resentment from Jb hi-fi staff.

        • @Prothean: I tried today but was rejected due to expired. Wasn't very busy so didn't get to talk them into it

Gotta get me some of that black media.

    • Are you joking?

I'll be elderly by the time I download and stream the Extended LOTR trilogy, which would be close to 300GB in blu-ray quality.

    • I actually bought 6 blurays to watch the movies for the first time (as opposed to enjoying a movie enough - after watching it by "other" means - to add it to my library).

I reckon anything $10 or cheaper is a fair price for me to make a leap of faith (bought Mary Poppins, Mud, Taxi Driver, Silver Linings Playbook, Argo, The Artist).

My internet is too slow for movie streaming, and it's usually more expensive anyway (if you do it legitimately via rental/purchase and include the internet download costs for 1080p quality content - you're easily paying more than $10).

Normally the 20% off is good when they also have the 2 for 1 deal as they stack.

    • They still have the 2 for $20 blu Ray which is nice

I have a downloaded copy of the batman and the blu ray disc , and to be honest couldn't tell the difference between the two on my fullHD 50inch TV. Ps: not condoning piracy

    • +4

Didn't know there was a movie called of the Batman and the Blu-ray Disc.

Anyways there is a difference between the two, your typical DL has gimped audio (rather then being DTS/DTS-HDMA/Atmos) and the video is compressed.

    • I just like it how every 480i movie torrent now has "1080p bluray rip" in the title. In all seriousness though, even the best 6GB torrent file I've tried to watch still feels incredibly strange to me. The colours are always off, the framerate doesn't feel smooth and its always really hard to understand the dialogue as the sound mix seems to get messed up. It just seems like the best way to not enjoy a movie.

      • If you want a rip that is almost the same as an unmolested BR, look for AVC Remux rips which they are a 1:1 rip

  • Weird, I got a JB Hi-Fi e-mail that says 2 blurays for $16 (scroll down)?

    http://view.e.jbhifi.com.au/?j=fec1107472670378&m=fe97127074…

    • +2

That's the 2 for $20 deal with the 20% off. Standard when these deals happen.

      • Ah ok thanks, I was actually going through the blurays looking for a "2 for $16" tag… silly me!

  • If you have the 20% discount from the Gift Card offer, it is stackable.

So you will be getting 36% off (up to a maximum total purchase of $100).
