  • That's pretty expensive for a wireless keyboard. Out of interest, can you use non-apple wireless keyboards with apple devices?

    • +7

There is plenty of non-Apple wireless keyboards you can use, but this is a good price for a genuine Apple aluminum keyboard!

      • Any that you have used in the past? Something with a numeric keypad?

        • +2

I use the logitech solar powered one with my imac. It's the business

      • A little bit off track but tbh I find the proprietary Apple wireless keyboard and especially the magic mouse (come with iMac range) to be massive AA battery hogs. As a proud Ozbargainer, I have actually resorted to using my 2002 wired usb windows mouse instead.

          eneloops!

        • +3

@pennae: My Eneloop collection box is sitting right behind my iMac for a reason…

    • +1

Yes, any bluetooth keyboard should work with iOS devices at least

I'm using a Microsoft Wedge keyboard with my macbook (Bluetooth wireless and aluminum built)

Hi OP, there is a few other online-only deals on the site, you might want to add them in your post:
    iHealth IH-PO3 Pulse Oximeter $60 (was $89 )
iHealth IH-BP7 Wireless BP Wrist Monitor $80 (was $119.95)

    • The BP wrist monitor is a good deal. The Pulse Oximiter can be had a Macfixit for $5 less with their current 15% off offer.

      • I checked before posting and saw it was on sale $65 @Macfixit but I din't see any current 15% off offer

        • +1

Fair point :) They definitely have one just doesn't seem to be advertised on the site. I received an email yesterday, doesn't look like anyone's posted on OB yet. Ends midnight 8th Jan.

Edit - If anyone's interested the code is BOXING15

        • @rampantconsumer: Thanks for the info! I saw the Boxing Day 15% OFF code marked as expired here on OZB, didn't know it still works ;)

        • +1

Happy to return the favour :) I picked up the wrist monitor and the weight scales from Myers and grabbed the pulse oximiter from Macfixit, free shipping from both over $100.

          was $149 now $100

And still can't use Myer vouchers online…
    It's a complete joke… DJs allows this
Mind you if call a store they prob won't even honour the same price to pay with vouchers in store
    +1 for the find though!

    • I do agree about the online gift card redemption at Myers. To be fair though DJ's have only offered this service for a month or two ago.

  • I wonder what would be like to game with this. Anyone tried it?

  • Thanks op!

It would be nice if the track pad or magic mouse go in sale too

  • I know the wired keyboard has been sale at $40 for some time now.. around 3 weeks.. I spotted it in the pre-boxing day sales but didn't think it was deal worthy.

  • Still overpriced, just because of the apple logo.
My friends bought some rechargeable batteries and a charger from apple few years ago. I think they cost $40, 4 AA batteries plus a battery charger. From what I know these are made by OZB's favourite Sanyo Eneloops. Why would u pay extra $ for apple packaging? People don't see your battery brand anyway!

Well to be fair, now apple is selling 6 AAs plus the charger for $35. And isn't as expensive as before.

Same applies to all Apple products:
      Iphone= overpriced phone
      Ipad = overpriced tablet
      IMac= overpriced PC
      Ipod= overpiced mp3 player
and the list goes on and on…
I'm not an Apple fanboy but for every iDevice I own, I paid premium price but I got premium products and premium customer service!

        nokia = underpriced weapons/shields.

-nokia user for almost 15 years.

        • One of my Nokias still goes strong as a phone, the rest 2 are still good as weapons(bricks) :)

    • +1

It's overpriced sure, but one reason you may go that is the smart charger itself looks to have a very small profile so it might be good for travelling with if space is an issue. Not that an Eneloop one is massive by any stretch mind you and I'm sure people can find alternatives. The trade-off of course being how many batteries you can charge at once.

      • agree. $35 for 6 AA + charger isnt that bad actually.
        especially its labelled with APPLEEEEEE

  • Anyone know if these ever work for the PS4?

    • Gonna try it for you.hold on a sec.

i know it works for the ps3.

From the Dynamic Menu's Home Screen, press UP on the d-pad.
Choose [Settings] > [Devices] > [Bluetooth Devices]. The system will automatically search for nearby Bluetooth devices.
Follow the normal pairing process of the Bluetooth device you wish to pair and enter the passkey (if necessary). If you are unsure of this process, please consult the device's instruction manual.
The PS4 will recognize the new device and ask who is using it. Choose the profile that you'd like to pair to the device.
You can now use the keyboard to navigate the PS4's system menus, input text, browse the web, and more.

  • good deal :)

  • Had one of these keyboards for years and it's been used more as a keyboard for Android tablets than for an iPad.

  • I've had one of these keyboards for a few years now and just my opinion but I wouldn't really bother, save yourself half the cost price and get a generic keyboard, nothing special that's for sure. (especially when I paid the full $89 back then, very underwhelmed).

    • +2

not trying to be rude, but what were you expecting? lol

      • +1

Fair call. I was a bit of a fan boy… Just warning others to not get too caught up I guess :)

        • +1

I thought fan boys were a myth.. something people exaggerated about

  • +5

OW will also price match this :D

  • +2

I have the apple wireless kbd and also the logitech K810

I end up using K810 the most - it is backlit… detects your presence nearby and automatically lights up. And also can switch between 3 devices with dedicated buttons.

If you can find the K810 at a better price, you should go for it.

Do not buy this keyboard if your fingers press down hard when typing. Horrible ergonomics.

    • +1

I used to use logitech, but honestly they're just not built the same. The letters wear off, and the keys have a pretty cheap feel when pressed. The apple one however is the business. You conform pretty quickly and stop pressing so hard… increases your typing speed and means you don't have to mentally change from one keyboard to another if you ever use the one on your macbook.

  • +2

Overpriced? Nah, try to find a compact wired keyboard for windows, at any price!

  • +5

People may say this is overpriced, but the build quality on this keyboard is very high, it is milled out of aluminium, and is a really solid piece of kit. Notice how many people are saying that they have been using them for years?

    • -2

Before I bought my Daskeyboard, I had been using a cheap Kmart brand keyboard for years. Must be great quality!

      • Yeah, but Apple keyboards don't get viruses.

    • I'd agree with that. I have the numeric keypad (cabled) Apple Keyboard at home and work. Both are my longest lasting keyboards. Quick wipe down with Spray 'n' Wipe once in a while and they look brand new still.

They also don't catch as many crumbs in them as others :)

  • Nice one, thanks OP!

  • Thanks OP, bought at Myer Chadstone, managed to get the sales assistant to accept the online price in-store.

  • I have the wireless for my mac, and yes the build is amazing, the battery lasts a long time, just have to remember not to put anything on top of it :P This thing ins't about to break apart any time soon!

Never had any trouble pairing it with anything, works every time, all the time.

PS3, Note 3 PC its all compatible.

  • +1

    Price matched at Officeworks. $57

    • same here today - Chadstone OW - no issues

  • Managed to go into Myer and they matched the online price after a small argument.
Still happy though cause I had Myer vouchers!

  • +1

Thanks~! Managed to price match at Officeworks Box Hill after some reluctance from the manager. Using it with my windows PC now. For those of you who want to make full use of the keyboard, you guys should use this:

    http://www.randyrants.com/category/sharpkeys/

Works like a charm. Now I can map all the function keys including the media keys (play/pause, volume)

  • Like the person above, I got the last wired version at Officeworks with much reluctance from the checkout chick. But was happy still as I used price match and only paid $38! Thanks OP.
