Logitech K830 HTPC Keyboard $77.80 Pickup (or + Shipping) @ Dick Smith Online and Other Deals

130

Cheapest I've seen this great wireless, HTPC centric keyboard for and cheaper than the previous DS deal by $1.20.

Just $77.80 click and collect or add shipping ($5.95 for me in the ACT).

It uses the Unifying receiver for wireless connectivity, is illuminated, has a touch pad and is nice and small for your lap. Great keyboard.

Some other Logitech online deals to note:
Logitech Harmony Touch Remote just $149
Logitech Z506 Surround Speakers for $77.09
Logitech M905 Anywhere Darkfield laser mouse for $55.05

you had me at "backlit keys"

  • Great deal - better keyboard.

Or buy MS equivalent for like $9 atm with the cash back deal (without backlit keys).

I don't know about that. The left click on the top left hand corner is worth $70 in my book. It makes the touchpad far more tolerable. I tried both before buying the k830 and at first I thought it was gimicky but it makes navigating a desktop so much easier.

      • If you're that reliant on a touchpad, your media center must be running some terrible software.

There is a left click button on the Microsoft one at the top left corner too.
Therefore no real difference yet other than the backlit keys for an extra $70.

Agreed. Looks very expensive against Microsoft equivalents with current cash back offer.

  • this only got 1 yr warranty

how is this compare with the K400R? or MS AIO media keyboard? or Logitech dinovo edge?

gives a bit of insight here.

      In summary:
      k400r:
Cheaper by about $35 (based off this special, otherwise it would be even cheaper still)
Takes AA batteries as opposed to inbuilt rechargeable one. I generally consider this a positive, some may disagree.
1 year battery life vs 10 days for the k830 (mines been going strong over 6 months now)

      K830:
      Illumination
      "better" key hardware
      "better" touch pad

Both share the same 10m range spec.

I personally can't fault my k400r for it's key or trackpad performance so I'm not really sure what's the deal there.

I use the tv to control the volume of the htpc, so more volume keys is really just a hindrance for me, the light cast from the tv gives more than enough light to operate the keyboard even with no other light source, so I would virtually never use the illumination feature - so for me there is 0 gained bang for my buck in the k830 model. If money is no issue than it's certainly a more sophisticated remote but I can't see any value for money over the k400r.

edit: I'm confused, watching the video for it, and viewing the pictures suggests the k830 has no left click mouse button in the top left corner. The comments here however suggest that it does. Which is it?

      • ic, the K830 is similar to the di novo edge then, like a premium keyboard. but it is heavier due to the rechargable battery

In terms of value microsoft's AIO with cashback is better at the moment, but +1 because this is the cheapest I have seen for the K830

Microsoft N9Z-00028 All-In-One Media Wireless Keyboard $33 minus $24 cashback.
