Hi all,

Thought this was a pretty amazing deal.

Bundle featuring the XiaoMi Piston v2 in-ear headphones plus the XiaoMi 10400mAh power bank for US$32.18 - $10 off the usual price. That works out to only $16 per item which is the cheapest I've seen by far.

XiaoMi have an excellent reputation for quality products and reviews of these two items have been really positive.

Works out to be approximately 39.51 AUD. I was excited for this until I converted it, things always seem favourable in USD…

I miss the days of the strong Aussie dollar, that's for sure…

      Still a good deal!

  • This genuine?

    • Yep, confirmed with GeekBuying

And they have nothing to gain from lying hey? Not saying they're fake, but asking a Chinese seller if something is legit is like asking a bear if it's going to eat you. The answer probably won't be logical English and despite what they say there's a high chance you're screwed.

I understand the concern but others have said they pass the genuine tests (serial validation on XiaoMi's site)

Ahhh, the times I got screwed over by Chinese people in Beijing. Your comment does remind me those days. My gf got screwed over even though she is fluent in Chinese… Anyways, that being said, I bought mine from GeekBuying before Christmas, it passed the Xiaomi authentication page thingy.

Though from that, I basically went, I can't be bothered to open the battery pack up now. The build quality is similar to legit one, the cable is slightly different (From the cables I've seen from review page) but I am not sure whether that is due to changes in model or stuff, it works fine, so I am going to sit on it.

I might open it up and see the battery cells after around Thursday ish (since I am traveling right now) if any of youse are interested.

        • @AznMitch:
Would be great if you could confirm Mitch! Thanks

        • even if his batch was genuine, there is no guarantee the next batch is the same. The stable supply of Xiaomi products within China is problematic, the only surefire way to get genuine ones is to buy from its official website, or via taobao..

        • @AllWins: I thought Taoba was rife with fakes?

        • @rapoot6: I checked my batch, I found that my battery is Chinese one (Lishen LR1865SK which is not that bad of a deal and I have seen other people getting a real Xiaomi powerbank with Lishen battery), but hearing what I heard about Xiaomi moving away from Samsung and LG battery, I checked the board. The board looked genuine enough.

  • Seems good deal. The power bank could be checked if it is genuine in xiaomi website. What about the piston headphones though??

    • Can't see anything about a serial number for the headphones though there are plenty of guides on how to identify fakes

  • Thanks OP, had been considering getting both. My CBA CC just converted it as 39.67 AUD, so adding in the 3% fee it will have cost me 40.86 AUD.

you're on ozbargain and don't own a 28 degree cc? :D go apply for one! no international transaction fee & no annual fee ever

      • I know this is slightly off track, but how do you apply for one? :S

EDIT: I should've known better and Google first :S

        • -1

They didn't offer cc card payment anyway, only paypal. Just google it and apply.

        • +1

@snook: don't you link your CC to PayPal?

        • I believe Citibank Plus is a better option, especially if you can't apply for credit cards :)

        • @brucebruce: never occurred to me and I also didn't know that

I have currency conversion turned off by default in my Paypal account

So can let it go through paypal to 28 degrees and should have no fees.

Didn't know. Assumed because it went to paypal first that paypal would charge conversion.

      • No have had other cards with balance transfer offers and didn't want too many credit cards (or hits on credit history for when I want to get a home loan). I do now have a Bankwest card with zero FX fees but am paying off a balance transfer still…

They also have Xiaomi power bank for just $19.99. That too seems a great price if you do not want the headphones

    • This is good
I bought one and it came in at $25.34 AUD + Free postage
Pretty good even with the weaker dollar

      • AUD 21.50 inc postage for me. change the language at the top right hand to Australian and the currency automatically changes to AUD.

        • PayPal conversion rate though.

        • I still get 25$ when I chance to AUD?

  • Thanks OP! Been wanting to get one for a while now

i bought the 16000mAH version for $38.01 AUD which is quite a a good deal.
    http://www.geekbuying.com/item/XIAOMI-Original-5V-3-6A-2A-16…

  • How do you get $10 off? It shows $42.18.

  • "Sorry, the coupon is not valid for orders less than AUD 53.16"

  • Does anybody know if the earphones the original Piston 2.0 model or the updated 2.1 type?

    • Well, I had a chat with Geek Buying, and apparently the earphones are the original 2.0's. So, for anybody thinking of getting this deal, just be aware at that the earphones are not the updated version. The differences between 2.0 and 2.1 are minor (2.1s have 10cm longer cords, different earbuds and a shirt clip), but the sound quality is exactly the same. I guess they might just be trying to get rid of old stock with this deal? I don't Xiaomi has made the original model since mid-2014.

  • How reliable are Geekbuying with there free postage " i realize it was Christmas" but i purchased something that was sent on the 23rd December and still have not received it and tracking hasnt been updated since the 3rd January…..

  • Does the earphone have a mic?

    • Yes. Designed for Android though, so not sure what that actually means in regards to the buttons if you have an iPhone, but the mic should work regardless, as they do the other way round.

Purchased similar deal with them about a month ago.
Both earphones and battery pack are genuine however postage took awhile probably because Xmas.
    Definitely buy from them again.

  • Have both of these and they are great.

  • What is the cheapest price this has been in the past?

  • Spend over $100.00 and got express postage only to receive an email at midnight saying they cannot ship via the method I paid for and offered to send between 15 - 30 BUSINESS days??? If I knew it was going to take this long I wouldn't of purchased it.

  • Anyone receive theirs yet?

    • Still haven't got mine. Was sent on the 15th Jan. Last update on the tracking was the 30th Jan saying "The item is on transport to the country of destination"

  • I also haven't got a parcel yet. Air mail to Australia, New Zealand, Singapore usually takes 5-11 business days. If I haven't got for nearly 45 days, will open dispute.

    • It's Chinese new year currently. Most of China including mail services are closed. That's why it hasn't arrived yet. Website also states that it may take up to 30 days to arrive after processing.
