Pretty accurate sizing for the meat. Get a fair serve of chips and gravy but that thin finger of chicken is tiny.

Eh, I always find these a bit hard to get indignant at. You can make a huge difference in 10 seconds with lighting / angle / 'fluffing' the food up to make it look better.
It's actually very hard to take delicious looking photos of most food.
It's a novelty segment. I don't think anyone in their right mind would expect fast food to look like carbon copies of their advertisement shots, and if they do, they're a little foolish IMO :P Though sometimes you can be pleasantly surprised..
The Lifehacker thing is just an amusement. The further away in similarity the 'real deal' is from the marketing shot, the funnier, usually. At least I find it is. But I am easily amused.
Look how little the chicken strip is. haha. Love how the camera perspective also makes the box look HUGE, like the sides are towering over these sad chips and lonely chicken nugget.
Fair enough. I just have pretty low expectations for what $2 buys you these days :u
That may be so but the promo pick shows the chicken from corner to corner in reality the chicken is half the size. That's pretty crooked.
Maybe the box should be smaller so the chicken looks bigger.
You can also take that 10 seconds and go in the opposite direction and make things look way worse than they actually are.
More referring to the other pics I clicked through in that takeaway truth series.
Eg. I've never seen a subway sub look that bad, and article writer even mentions he said to the maker 'make it look like one in the advertisement' as if to intentionally piss them off.
I can see why they would, maybe I just have a stick up my ass but it's not that funny.
That being said, the taster box is pretty pitiful even by reasonable expectations.

I was just pointing out the fact that they have a commercial incentive to make the products of the fast food places look as shit as possible since it's intended as a humor piece as opposed to objective journalism.
If it looked anything like that last picture, then it would be worth it. I got the smallest piece of chicken when I was there..

Found this on above link - photo of mcd angus burger. Reminded me of the one time I bought it. It looked exactly like this: throw the meat in, then a handful of salad, and you're done. $9.50 please!

It's funny you should say that because the first thing I said when we got our takeaway bag was " does this smell like warm dog food to you?" ….I also ended up with food posioning for the whole next day needless to say I won't be having this again!

The gravy they put in it sells for $1.70, add in the chips and you're well and truly getting your piece of chicken for nothing. If you don't want it, don't eat it.
Just because they 'sell' it for $1.70 doesn't mean its worth that much. Perhaps if they increased the price of their entire menu and then offered a meal for the same price as they use to, does that make it a bargain? Ofcourse not.

Is it any worse than the tiny Maccas tasters. They are super small and $3.

Grilled one side only. If they grilled both sides it would shrink and turn into ash because its so small.
Its actually precooked just like the mccains frozen nuggets. The local store just heats them up.
BTW the "grilled" marks are painted on with some kind of food dye. Just try it, it rubs off with your finger and only the white plasticky meat remains

For me, I just want the same amount of food shown in the picture, it doesn't matter if the chicken is on top or below. Presentation doesn't matter.exactly, the size of the piece of chicken shown in the banner is massive, in reality it was like 1/8'th of its size.
This. I think people would be a lot happier if they received the same quantity, regardless of how the food looked. Value for money would still please people more so than the likeness of the food to the promo shots.

Tried it once. Found it very hard to digest. Chicken was like rubber. That's why they give you the sauce as a lubricant so it goes down smoother :-)
BTW These samplers have been selling on + off for past couple of yrs

We got lucky and they didn't have any grilled chicken and gave us crispy strips. THAT was a tasty bargain!
