Apple TV (Refurbished) for $79 Delivered from Apple Store, Back in Stock

100

Refurbished Apple TV from their online store, backed with a one-year warranty. Just bought one for myself, dunno how much stock they have, they tend to run out fairly quickly though…

  • I find it hilarious that the first line of the product description is "Originally released March 2012".

http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/#Apple_TV certainly makes that point very clear too.

    • It's an old device - but great to stream your content to the TV or stereo when your are invested in Apple infrastructure. There should be an update one day … but we say that for how long now … :-)

how much do refurbished ones normally cost ???

  • atv3 for $79 seems about right
If only they still sold atv2 !!

    • What was the advantage of the atv2? I'm just interested as from what I read the second gen didn't even support 1080p, which is a deal breaker for me.

I have used mine a bit (for HD content I can't get on blu ray) and the remote is so bloody clumsy on it, and the menu interface in playback woeful. Talk about unintuitive… Image quality is not bad for 1080p, but I've seen occasional jaggies, which I wouldn't expect

      • atv2 + Jailbreak = xbmc
not the best machine, but for under $100 it was a great option
selling for $150+ on ebay now

Ah. OK. So with xmbc was it actually capable of 1080p, or still limited to 720?

        • +1

@Mobe1969: Still limited. atv2 was only good before cheap alternate XBMC solutions were available.

  • Shame can't buy physical stuff on the apple store using itunes credit…. ;-)

    • How would that be equal when stores sell credit for upto 50%off ???

If you prefer brand new and don't mind making a trip to Officeworks, ask them to price match Harvey Norman's price of $88: http://www.harveynorman.com.au/apple-tv.html

It comes to $83.60, picked up one myself on the weekend.

    • I swear Officeworks was selling their Apple TV for $88 too…at least it was the case the last time I checked a couple of weeks ago…anyways, good use of their price-beat policy..:)

Excellent post… wouldnt this price point kill this bargain in that case?

        $9 more for brand new?

Can't see it catching on myself although it does save on LCD/plasma energy use I suppose.

    • +1

      Huh? Plugs into your LCD/Plasma.

      • Yeh it was a bit vague. Apple TV? Only Apple could be so arrogant as to think they could misappropriate a word.

        • /points to door

@Utopian: I'll put it another way: the label is just another Apple wank.
