In the long term, auto grinding machines are cheaper than pods, because of the cost of the pods versus buying beans.
Research has also shown the taste of the coffee is better than pods (not that it was intuitively obvious anyway).
There is far less waste than pods (but going by previous negs, people are too selfish to give a siht)

    • Pods good when everybody wants a different type of coffee though.

      • You can use different types of coffee grinds in the machine also, which is the closer equivalent to pods. So that eliminates that argument

    • I wouldn't call it "selfish."

People don't like being told that what they're doing is wrong.
And as much as we'd like to think that we're all coffee connoisseurs, most people won't know the difference b/t stale or fresh beans, regions, or processing methods.

It's all about convenience/cost and the lowest common denominator. You don't see ppl buying hybrid cars because it's better for the planet.

No need to be a sore winner about it, I've +'ed you, so your ego should be stroked. ;)

      tl;dr - NOT CONVENIENT ENOUGH.

          dont forget pretty lazy generally

the taste of the coffee is better

But the kogan aftertaste is one that is not nice.

  • Often wondered about these things if they keep the milk cold, or does it just go off quickly?

I assume it's an attachment like the nespresso versions which is stored in the fridge when not in use.

      • I never thought of that :D doh!

  • -1

I can't vouch for this machine but you can get a nespresso latissima plus for about this price with those cashback deals.

    • That's a pod machine which is cheap and higher running cost

  • Maybe its my Kogan-bias, but this thing is ugly.
How easy to get parts when it breaks in 13 months? Whole lot in the bin?

    • Get the extra 5 year warranty for $75, and have it replaced every 13 months?

Immaculate crema on long blacks 'ey?

Looks like an ugly version of this.

With the warranty, don't forget that you 'must' ship it back to Kogan… how much is that going to cost for a unit this size, depending on where you live.

    • +1

According to 'the checkout', the seller has to cover any reasonable cost of returning faulty items. Anyone feel up to the challenge of getting the ACCC to enforce this?

    • With the warranty, don't forget that you 'must' ship it back to Kogan…

where are you getting your "facts"? kogan pay shipping to and from for warranties

You are responsible for returning the product, unless the cost of doing so is significant. In this case, the business must organise and pay for the return or exchange.

I'd imagine the $50 or so australia post would charge you to return this would be significant, it's not exactly a trip down the road on the bus.

edit: Oh, just re-read your reply, you weren't talking to me lol

Where Kogan authorises warranty service of a Product, Kogan will organise for our authorised courier to pick up the Product during business hours (between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday) and deliver it to the appropriate authorised repair centre, provided that the Product is safely and securely packaged for safe transport. In this situation Kogan will cover the cost of transport of the serviced Product to and from the Customer. Alternatively, the Customer may take the Product to the appropriate repair centre for service if Kogan specifically authorises the Customer in writing to do so. Alternately, the Customer may post the Product as directed by Kogan if Kogan specifically authorises the Customer in writing to do so, in which case Kogan will refund the Customer the cost of the postage on provision of a scanned copy of the postage receipt. Where the customer is located outside Australia, Kogan may require that the Product be sent to Hong Kong or Australia, as directed by Kogan.

        • @nosdan: You are right, Im wrong. Is that what yo want to read?
I stated what I did, because a friend had an issue with a phone-after 2 days of use and they used the first line you quoted against him-"Where Kogan authorises warranty service of a Product". Well they didn't authorise it, and he had to pay for it… I don't know the exact details.
So all I am stating is, keep this in mind.

          @ozf1:

You are being revisionist - your words were:

"With the warranty, don't forget that you 'must' ship it back to Kogan"

        • @yoyomablue: You may be taking it personal, being the OP. However, I must point out, I did not 'revise' that statement. All i did in my reply was explain that Kogan did not authorise for his product to be picked up. He had to ship it back to them. He got a refund at the end for the phone, but not the shipping costs. I know this as I felt real bad as I recommended he buy the phone-Samsung Galaxy Mega. It kept turning off on him. That was early 2014. Perhaps they changed their rules, again; Im not sure, perhaps he couldn't be home b/w 9-5pm during weekdays, just to wait for a courier to arrive.
I could claim that I am sure, even state that this actually happened to me. But I am being honest and passed on 'my mate's experience' for my fellow OzB members to consider.

I don't think nosdan's comment in virtually calling me 'an idiot' is warranted, but hey the internet does give all of us faceless professors a forum… chill out.

        • You may be taking it personal, being the OP. However

im not taking it personally, and im not the OP.. but put simply 3rd hand information is no help to anyone and you should just keep it do yourself if you dont actually know what your talking about (i mean, have actual specifics)

He got a refund at the end for the phone,

so he bought it from kogan.hk? grey import? the rules there are different again and i stand by my point that unless you actually know what your talking about simply saying something for the sake of saying something is no help to anyone.

          again; Im not sure

so, again, you actually admit you dont know what your talking about? nice

I could claim that I am sure, even state that this actually happened to me. But I am being honest and passed on 'my mate's experience' for my fellow OzB members to consider.

how is passing on bad/wrong/stupid information of benefit to anyone? let me answer that for you…. it isnt….

I don't think nosdan's comment in virtually calling me 'an idiot' is warranted

          if the shoe fits champ…

        • @nosdan: "im not taking it personally, and im not the OP" I was replying to yoyomablue…"@yoyomablue: You may be taking it personal, being the OP".

          Thanks chump!

        • -1

hey champ, when you want to quote someone put a little > in front of the line of quoted text… it turns out like this

          quote

and i was well aware of you personally addressing the OP but i was simply pointing out to you that you dont either have to take it "personally" nor be the "op" to have an issue with people who give stupid "information" given by someone who seems not to actually have anything constructive to add..

hope that helps :) keep on keeping on champ

        • @nosdan: ummm. wrong dude. You do sound like you thought he was addressing you. Hey, he was big enough to explain himself etc. But you are not big enough to admit you've made an error/mistake and thought he was replying to you.
Which is probably why hs's decided to now ignore you.

You are now telling him how to make sure he quotes people correctly, at the end of the day you understood, waht difference does it make, let it go.
BTW. I have had a bad experience where Kogan did not want to accept my claim for service/repair… long story short, it's left up to their discretion. ACCC/Consumer affairs, toothless tigers, mediators… at best.

          @RightplaceRontime:
And the same thing can happen with any wholesaler/manufacturer - Samsung are well known stonewallers (they even stonewalled over payments to families of workers killed in their own factories - disgusting company)

        • @RightplaceRontime:

          how can

@yoyomablue: You may be taking it personal, being the OP.

possibly be mistaken for addressing me? you would have to be a complete idiot to think that i was either blind or stupid enough to make that "mistake". if you read all the comments and take them in context its rather obvious i was well aware of who was addressing whom.

i was simply stating that my opinion was neither because i took it personally or was the op, but simply because ozf1 was mistaken in his original statement. simples? simples :)

  • So has anyone bought one, whats it like?
