Now if only I can snap a good smart watch deal… Hmm

The very last piece to my boganwear puzzle!

It's a shame the Aussie flag has become a symbol of the bogan. I can't think of any other country where their flag has become a negative symbol like this. If anything I hope 'normal' people start using the flag to reclaim it from the racist bogan component of the population.

haha true - I always feel intimidated when some loud bogan Falcadore pulls up at the lights with a massive Southern Cross sticker plastered over the rear window

        • Nice stuff. Would it be wrong to suggest a boxing kangaroo one or an "australian made"

At the moment, wearing the spanish flag means you are support the far-right politics. It's so sad because you can only show the flag when Spain is playing soccer, basket or any sport. Never again in a daily basis…

        • same in italy

Well Im not bogan but why would I want to use an aussie flag?
Anywhere in the world its mostly the loud chanters and ravers that wave a flag around.

Generally flags become the covering of choice for far right groups, and thus tainted by association. Take the National Front in the UK, the teabaggers in the US, and the fascist parties throughout history. It takes some serious effort to rescue them, and it's an ongoing struggle to manage the associations.

Far right = my country is better than yours = Flags

I do wonder if the fact that the union jack is in the corner has something to do with it not getting quite as taken up by the racist parties in Oz - which leaves the bogans picking up on it - probably not recognising how it's questionable from a bigoted viewpoint.

I have never understood jingoism and never will. George Carlin puts it best when he says "Pride should be reserved for something you achieve or obtain on your own, not something that happens by accident of birth. Being Irish isn't a skill… it's a f*&%^g genetic accident. You wouldn't say I'm proud to be 5'11"; I'm proud to have a pre-disposition for colon cancer.”

      • Japan for one

      • Change flag to an Indigenous one and I'll wear it proudly

Actually in the UK the St George cross has been hijacked for this purpose. I'm sure it actually happens more than you think.

        • Not St George's cross, the Union Jack

        • @antt:

Both carry that connotation at this point, actually.

As someone who most definitely does not consider himself far-right, i find defeatist comments and perceptions like this as FAR more damaging to our flag and national identity than bogans. It is pure intellectual laziness. So some bogans or far right groups use the flag, big deal, even those groups have some legitimate points, one extreme will always need another extreme to prevent us going too far down the wrong paths, at least i hope there will be since we always seem to! But at the end of the day its OUR flag. Everyones. Far right nutters wearing it as capes or far left lunatics burning and spitting on it, i have seen both… get over it. Have some back bone and mental fortitude people.

        • it's not a flag of any first nation. When you day it's 'our' flag, you are excluding from memory the first nation Australians who see that flag as a celebration of the destruction of their culture and stealing of their land. You're also assuming that they do not use this web site

  • Good on you mate ;)

Good effort. Shame it makes want to yell f off we're full to everyone… like people above have mentioned is a shame the aust flag and southern cross have taken on a different meaning. Thank God I didn't get the Southern cross tattoo I was thinking of getting 20 users ago.

    This is not a bargain

      It's free = bargain!

  • Hi @julz. It's probably not worth asking, but will this watchface work with Sony SmartWatch 2 SW2 ? I like both the Australian and Aboriginal flag watchfaces that are now up on Google Play.

    • Hi sorry it won't. Maybe a good time to consider an upgrade given the SmartWatch 3 is 25% off at the moment. If I get some time I might make a SW2 version.
