What Is The Best Toilet Paper?

I use to love Quilton 3 ply, but these days it just seem so thin and just not as soft and strong.

I think ever since they are sold in packets of 20 rolls for $10 at Colesworth that the quality started to decline.

I also noticed the rolls are much smaller at 180 sheets per roll these days.

So What Is The Best Toilet Paper today? God dammit, I just want good toilet paper! I trawl through OZ Bargain to find bargains and skimp on everything else so I can afford good toilet paper. Why is it so hard to get good toilet paper?????

And no one better mention Kleenex Cottonelle, that's a terrible product. The only good thing it's good for is to guarantee I or anyone else who doesn't use half a roll at a time will get shit on their fingers wiping their ass.

I reckon Quilton 3ply is still the best.

Saw a lady bought a trolley full of Quilton at Woolies last week.

Old newspapers cut up into 12cm squares and shoved on a nail in the dunny door.

  • Actually, it's still 190 sheets per roll. Just check the packaging.

Quilton from coles express. buy 2 and get 10c off petrol.i usually fill up 2 cars on the same pump and get ~$11 off so $9 for 40 rolls. Not that i'm stingy or anything…

  • i am personally not fussed as to what i use …. but my wife prefers "Quilton 3 ply"

use Quilton but have notice a fall in the quality these days!

might try kirklands from Costco when I run out

  • Black & Gold. On special at moment for $1 from all IGA stores.

    Kirklands from Costco..

  • Quilton

  • Any of the 12pk ~$3.79 from Aldi/Coolies.

    Sorbent!

I used to like the Quilton long rolls, but I agree the quality has dropped lately. I tried Kleenex Cottonelle, but that was pretty poor in strength. The best I've found recently is Sorbent. Aldi and Costco are not viable options for me.

  • We use Quilton from Coles. Mum has to specified for me to get them from Coles the other day because she thinks the Woolies ones are no good. But yes I agree they were much better back in the days.

I have tried Sorbent but it isnt smooth like Quilton's.

Kirkland toilet paper from Costco is great. Something like 425 sheets per roll, about an inch wider than any other paper, two ply, thick and soft. I haven't got enough good things to say about this stuff.

Try it and if you don't like it, they'll give you your money back. But you'll love it so it won't be an issue.

I assume you mean the unused ones?

They'll give you back the money for the ones you've used. No need to retain used the paper as evidence. They're good like that.

        • do u know if its the same stuff they use in the toilets?
cause that stuff aint bad (tried once..)

    • Going to give it a go!

  • I wanted to say water as a certain group of people use it….
Have converted my husband from sorbent to quilton. But now hope to try Costco as a lot of people are bragging about it.

Yeh, I thought it was just my imagination but Quilton really has lost quality in the past few months. Glad you Oz-bargainers are on the ball!
I'm growing tired of companies promoting products through supermarkets at so-called greatly reduced prices but knowingly changing the product's quality.
    - Just no integrity these days. It's enough to give you the shits!

    • I think it's the fact that they get that market share or brand awareness they can start reducing the quality/quantity to reduce cost. It will backfire, i.e. Cussons Morning Fresh dishwashing detergent now made in Indonesia- a great product, now a terrible product.

I wouldn't mind it so much if the quantity went down, but quality also. I think it's due to Coles and Woolies pressuring them to reduce cost.

I mean Quilton is now cheaper than 10 years ago, but the quality is way down. My asshole is the best judge.

  • Thanks for the suggestion guys… I knew it wasn't my imagination.

tried Sorbent.. meh, similar to Quilton.

Haven't used Aldi but from what I can see from the outside, it looks thin. Aldi did have this AWESOME disposable napkins, made in Italy. 50 napkins for $2, but now they stopped selling it. Lucky I stocked up buying 20 packets. It was by far the best napkins ever!!! I use it in the powder room for guests to use. Nothing worst than using a manky wet hand towel at someone else's house.

I will ask a Costco member to pick me up some Kirkland to test out. Hopefully the smallest package is less than 100 rolls.

I know Kirkland awesome disposable cutlery.

I heard Clive palmer uses a toilet paper that requires one tree from pristine national park rainforest for each roll. Softer than a cloud but has a carbon footprint even bigger than Clive's derrière.

    • Where can I get some?

If that is the case PUP for Government!

    • Looks impressive. Will try some after I finish off the Costco (see below).

      • We were impressed with it. Although we have used Quilton for a long time, we found Emporia much better quality.

Not sure if any of you have tried the flushable wipes (Kleenex is my favoured brand). I was initially a sceptic but now, I would never have any of my 4 x bathrooms without at least a packet of these on hand. The quality of your toilet paper will soon become secondary after you experience the ultimate clean of these flushable wipes. They're on special regularly and I always stock up. One of life's little luxuries.

    • 4 bathrooms! Must be rich! lol

I got a few samples of it, and it's very good. But I don't want to use them as they aren't very environmentally friendly as they don't break down.

  • Update: Tried the Costco Kirkland and it's nothing special.

    Thinner and harder than Quilton.

They are however huge rolls, the sheets are as wide as regular toilet paper is long. Must be made for fat American asses.

I now have nearly 30 massive rolls (425 sheets per roll) left to use. It will take me years to finish if I was single. Fortunately my wife and kids use toilet paper like it's going out of fashion.

    • I think my OH and daughter eat the stuff!!!! One roll lasts as long as a huge bar of chocolate………..and that aint very long!!!

    • Yes, that is a good one too
