Pretty good deal I guess, the last time I bought a deck from the game shop was $5 a deck.

  • Can't you get a set of these for $2 at the discount store?

    • yes you can.

    • Indeed. I bought some recently. They were the exact same cards, as well. Thus, this is $1.98 overpriced.

      • i can confirm it only costs $2 from 1-2-3 dollars shop.

  • xmas gift idea?

  • $2 cards indeed. If you happen to want 4 decks of $2 cards it's not the worst deal but I wouldn't call it a bargain.

  • It's funny everyone goes crazy of the 007 3.98 pack of cards, but when I pointed out you can get the same for $2 they all didn't care too much :)

The website says the cards are 100% plastic. The $2 cards in the shops would be paper, so they are not the same thing (provided the 100% plastic is true - and I do have doubts on that).

For those that care, the reason why plastic is better is the card "memory" - that is, if you bend it, will it stay bent? Really good quality cards will snap back into place and last quite a while. Copag brand are a personal favourite, available on eBay and other places usually for around $25 for 2 decks. When we played poker every Friday night, we'd go through two decks in an entire year. For the $2 cards, they would last 1 week, maybe 2.

The picture on the site shows a card being bent to touch both ends, that is a common image used to display card quality.

I haven't used Royal brand cards so I don't know wether these warrant the $16 rrp, but there you go, that's the difference between 100% plastic cards and $2 paper cards.

    • The ones I got for $2 were plastic, not paper.

    • Can't click that link from work - blocked - so summary, worth $16rrp?

        Here you go RockSteady,
        From Online Poker Rules:
" These cards do pass the bend test, allowing you to bend the card so that the top and bottom edges touch, without "remembering" the bend once the card is released."

"Overall, these cards do not have the feel of a premium plastic playing card. But they don't have the cost either.

I think Royals would be a fantastic substitute for paper playing cards in a lot of conditions. They would be perfect for picnics, camping trips, and good for children to take to the pool or use in their clubhouse. They would stand up to things like dew on the picnic table, greasy fingers, and clumsy hands. And those are the better reasons for buying plastic cards.

They are not however, premium plastic cards. Even if I could get a set in poker size with jumbo indexes, I wouldn't be interested in running them through my tournaments.

Royals are a good substitute for paper cards. They are not an "investment in plastic cards". They would certainly excel in some situations, but fall short in others."

        • Probably fair deal then for this, and maybe over priced at $16rrp.

  • Auctually,I have subscribed to newsletters from this website already and get some really great bargains. But I just ignored this deal when I received the alert newsletter from this website last night.

It's not a good bargain for me, beacause I don't like playing Poker cards…o(︶︿︶)o

Anyway, the price is reasonable. Someone who love playing poker cards may benefit from this deal ….$_$

  • For those who gave negative comment, may I know if you are getting the same brand of cards for $2 each deck? If so, may I know the location of the shops? Because that's so much cheaper then I can get anywhere else. And even at $2 a deck, it's still more expensive then $6 for 4 deck?

    • I guess, not all people vote for the price, but for their hobbies.
Maybe, People give negative votes to express their hatred of playing poker games.

Do not take it seriously. Everyone has the right to hate something or love something…Cheers

      $_$

  • BTW,I just remain neutral for this deal. Have not given a negative or positive vote for it yet -_-
