Same TV as in : https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/180132 but a bit cheaper. Was looking at the goodguys deal but looks like that has gone up, this looks cheaper.
Dick Smith front page says $699, product pages says $644 and after the back60 coupon its $584, not sure if this is error.

EVERY purchase over $250 needs final approval from the Finance Minister.

It rarely doesn't get approval, but as the Finance Minister also has the "Entertainment and Extra-Curricular Activities Portfolio", I'd be remiss if I didn't seek approval.

As the Events Coordinator for the above portfolio, it's in my interest to keep her informed of such things :).

  • your kidding!! i bought this on Sunday from the Good guys
does the 30 day price guarantee work for coupon codes as well?

    • TGG may charge you a re-stocking fee unfortunately. Unless you have the citibank credit card and use the price protection insurance?

By the way, how's the quality of the picture on the TV?

      • i only used it for 15 mins but i was really impressed.

i just got foxtel installed a few hours ago so I will let you know if you want how the picture quality is for sports.

        • Good to hear, got it for watching the tennis in the bedroom. looking forward to your thoughts on sports.

        • any problems fitting it in a normal family car?

        • @fenrer:
Probably not, but the kids will complain they can't watch the cartoons from the backseat.

  • Bargain price it seems. An, tv prices are cheap compared to 5 years ago.

Btw, can't give you a vote as the system says I have voted too much.

  • i got this from TGG too, nice TV for the $$.

  • Whats the TV like for those that bought it from TGG?

A big thing for me with TV's because I use it with a Logitech Harmony, is that there are separate actions for power on and power off. Can't check this with the harmony software until I get home though. Not sure if anyone that has this and a logitech harmony can confirm now?

    • +1

Get a Logitech Harmony Smart Control - RF remote to network connected hub with IR blasters. Your macros will never again be interrupted by turning around at the wrong moment, kids running between the remote and the TV, etc. Can also use your smartphones / tablets as remotes and to configure devices. You can even transfer your existing harmony setup to it !

  • I'm spewing for jumping early and getting it from JB Hi Fi.

  • Excellent offer. Anyone has compared the picture quality with the old Panasonic plasma panel?

    • +1

Why would you bother, no chance of it being even close the last Panasonic plasma's.

      • +1

I'll let you know when I get it, I have a st60, I don't think so either the st60 is amazing and that's just mid level one.

    • +1

ok, picture quality is miles better on the st60 plasma, this is my first led set so I might be bias. whats with the bright edging. and artifacts around the edge? I was watching the tennis (7hd) and this was quite jarring, could just be compression artifacts or something… I don't know the technical term.. maybe I'm sitting too close, from far away it all looks ok. haven't tried movies so can't comment on the soap opera effect.

this is a fantastic deal if you don't need smart TV features.

I was a bit of a smart TV naysayer for a long time but since getting my parents an LG smart TV with webOS I think I would struggle to buy a 'dumb' TV for my next TV. its so much easier than relying on the PS3/Chromecast for stuff like SBS On Demand and ABC iView!

    • +1

I can't comment on latest smart TVs, but I do find the chromecast faster to deal with than my smart tv (circa 2013). switching apps on the tv is slow and painful.. switching apps on my phone to choose something that takes over the TV is much easier/quicker with the chromecast.

      • This was my argument against Smart TVs originally…clunky, slow interfaces that were usually non-updatable. This seems to have changed with the latest generation of Smart TVs (particularly from LG, so long as they promise to keep updating WebOS and encourage more apps to go into its WebOS app store).

the model my parents bought uses a 'magic remote' which is like a wiimote but about a billion times more accurate. It's really easy to use and really quite slick and fast.

  • I plan to wall mount this if I get it…do the hdmi ports go straight in or do they point sideways/downwards?

    • I got one and just wall mounted myself, its VESA compatible. 2 HDMI ports are at the rear.

There is stock all over melb and they mark it out. I smell bs

How is it these are cheaper than ever, when in recent weeks the AU$ has fallen by heaps - below US80¢?

  • Dick Smith have stock, but BACK60 code doesn't work.
