  • Anyone with more knowledge on TVs care to give some input on the Pana 50 vs the Hisense 50 here?

It's a UHD TV, as in like 4K. Ie much higher res than full HD.

        • +5

          @Gavman: 4096 x 2160 4K resolution, the new Ultra HD has a slightly lower resolution of 3840 X 2160.

@Gavman: you really don't know what you are talking about do you?

        • @Gavman:

edit: beaten above shouldn't read other tabs mid comment :)

        • @Gavman: All you had to do is click on Dionysus' link and the resolution for the Hisense TV is clearly stated. I would disagree with you completely Gavman. Based on the specs, the Hisense is a superior product with much better value for money, and also comes with a 3 year warranty. All you're paying for with the Panasonic is the reputable brand name. Based on the reviews, customers appear to be more satisfied after purchasing the Hisense. I'd take a punt and get the Hisense. Maybe go in store to check out how it looks first though…

        • @amts: Yes UHD maintains the same aspect ratio as FHD screens, while 4K screens are a bit wider.

  • Just called and the iPad's are not on the school list.

  • Good prices for the iPads and iPhone. Still I think $900 is a lot for a phone regardless of the OS and build quality.

    • Have they fixed the iPhone 6 'bending in pocket' issue!?

      • +3

        It never was an issue.

      • -1

did you mean Iphone 6 Plus? By the way, it is not an issue, it is a FEATURE

        • +2

the 'Jobsian Reality Distortion Field' still lingers! ;-)

  • Has anyone gotten OW to 20% pricematch iPads or Macs?

    • I tried for the iPad it was very difficult. It needs to be on a school list at a cheaper price and you need proof that you or your child go to that school.

  • Bought one of these yesterday from TGG for $640 by price-matching JB, missed out on $50 credit :(

Like the TV, I only need two HDMI inputs. Setup is super easy. Works really well with my HTPC (after you turn off Overscan).

No quite sure if I like the colours from the HTPC yet. but I was absolutely stunned when watching the Avengers last night, looked great. This coming from a Plasma lover…

    • I pulled the trigger too early as well by not price matching at all. I put it on 28 degrees with price protection though, but they might only cover the $3 of the actual price. Doesn't hurt to ask TGG - they have a right to say no - but they might say yes. I'm going to ask JB and see what they say.

      • My local TGG agreed to give me the $50 credit :) yay. $590 net cost!

        • JB said no :(

  • to buy or not to buy… been wanting to turn the garage into a man cave but didnt want to spend this much on the tv..
is there any other ones that are better value? will be mainly used to watch the sports and play XB1…

    • you could grab the $499 Aldi 50" this weekend, but i think the extra $95 on the Pana is worth it.

the FHD Soniq 42" at JB for $349 is pretty great value (size/cost)

  • For those looking for the iPad Air, I went to Officeworks to price match Good Guys and they had dropped the price to $469 ($549rrp) anyway, which is cheaper than the Good Guys price match take 5%. This was on the Wi-Fi 32GB model.

  • Would that Panasonic be any good for gaming, input lag and ghosting wise?
