  • 50c! Madness, Didn't you used to be able ask for a cup of it for free? LOL 50c Is not too bad, considering that KFC wanted $1 - YES $1 for me to have a sauce thing recently… i kept driving through the drivethrough after I ordered it. Needless to say the were unimpressed.

    • +3

use to be free about 10 years ago. Nothing free these days unfortunately .

      • +7

Salt and Pepper is still free :P

        • +1

And sugar too. And you can ask for lots of ketchup when you buy fries and keep the extras. All these little packs are excellent for hiking / camping and beat bringing along small bottles.

        • +2

@thevofa: My daughter always gets nuggets, but doesn't like the sauce. I love the sweet and sour sauce on my chips, so always order it and have a stash in the pantry.

        • -2

          @thevofa:

And you can ask for lots of ketchup

          Tomato sauce >:(

        • +1

          @gilbarc:
What do you call a sauce made from actual tomatoes then?
          Silly Australian English…

        • @damion: they better not give me no real shit when I ask for tomato sauce

      • Sauces are free at my local Hungry Jacks. Can have as many as you like. Even managers throw them at you for nothing.

    • +1

KFC needs to get its act together, they stopped having pineapple available on the burgers… ffs.

      • +1

Yes but why would you want pineapple when you can coat a hot dog with some greasy chicken??? yikes!!

    • +2

they're charging for BBQ sauce these days aswell!! :(

    • +19

you kept driving through the drivethrough because they wanted to charge you $1 for sauce … that's pretty gangster! thuglife represent

      • +1

fist pounds chest represent. lol, yeah was a while ago, all i wanted was a pack of nuggets with 2 things of sauce, and they were like thats an exta $1.. im like cool, dont worry about it. just so gangsta right there.

    • as if minus 2 votes…. haters gonna hate.

      • -1

It was funny the first time.. The second time (when you did it, straight after) not so much.

        • -1

You don't make sense, I'm Sam Kekovich.

  • +4

I can only imagine how big the 'Tub' would be for 50c

    • +7

      25ml apparently.

      • +17

        So it's $20/litre

        • +11

bugger …that gives it some perspective.

        • +8

22mL tub of fresh cream I bought the other day from Domino's was $0.75, or $34/litre.

Still many times cheaper than printer ink :)

        • +5

@Jabba the Hutt: now thats an idea, a SpecialSauceJet Printer, cheaper and tastier

        • @supabrudda: now I can print a big mac????

        • @Jabba the Hutt: Printer ink, Most expensive substance on the planet :p

    • Tub is standard sauce size 25ml

    • +12

Redefines the word "tub" doesn't it.

  • +5

always been available just without the label, only have to ask for it at the counter

  • +7

this aint a bargain… belongs in forum

    • +13

      Why did you upvote then?

  • +2

Basically you are paying for the packaging at 50c a tub. Great if you like the sauce. Opporto do large containers of their sauces.

    • +5

Basically you are paying for the packaging pure profit at 50c a tub.

      Fixed…

  • +2

    25ml is a tub!!!!

  • That sauce is the very reason I don't eat Big Macs. Horrid stuff.

    • I am not allergic to anything except Big Mac sauce.

      • No lettuce, extra sauce.

  • +7

Hungry jacks sauces are free, love the spicy sauce :)))

    • +1

Depends on where you are. Macquarie NSW asked 50c last time I was there.

      • +1

I would complain to corporate about that

      • Macqaurie centre?

  • +4

Why bother with a 25ml tub when you can get the 500ml bottle, and at just $23,100.00 so far…. bargain!

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/McDonalds-Limited-Edition-Big-Mac…

    • +4

Buy 10 big macs and an empty bottle. Profit.

      • +2

Can you buy 10 big macs and ask for all the sauce to be 'on the side'? Preferably in one container…?

        $$

    • whoa!

  • New packaging ain't really a deal

    • But it isn't according to MacDonalds
"And now, for the first time, you can get a tub of our legendary Big Mac Special Sauce to put on anything you like"

  • +4

This reminds me of a couple of mates many years ago that used to do a condensed milk challenge. It was spoon for spoon until someone had had enough. Would be funny to do this using McDonalds sauces!

  • +6

Seriously? This isn't a bargain. This is an advertisement for new packaging.

  • This has always been available, just had to ask for it.

  • RRP? Bargain? :/

    • +2

Nothing from Maccas is a bargain I'm afraid.

  • +1

Sorry, but at $20 a litre, it's far from being a bargain!
Edit: However, I will give credit if this is a joke post. I could see a humourous sarcastic side to it!

  • +2

Does this stuff expire? If it's limited in quantities, I'll buy 500 packs and let the speculative profits roll in. My pokemon card collection is going to pay off any day now!

  • So… are any OzBargainers actually going to buy any of this stuff? :P

That's what I wanna know. Lots of talk here, but.. who will succumb to the pricey temptation?

  • +3

Or you could try making your own.

High Fructose Corn Syrup, eh? So I guess the sauce is made in the US?

Or is the sauce also made locally with the Relish component made in the US..

      Either way.. pass :P

    • +6

Damn, I used the last of my 1442 thickener yesterday :(

    • What are the ratios?

  • Here's some more detail, courtesy of the Daily Mail UK

  • Pretty sure this has always been around.
It's just never been written anywhere.
It was one of those "menus" where it was just hidden under the counter.
I know this because one of my friend used to ALWAYS get the big mac sauce for his chips.

    • We used to have to the extras menu and prices stuck up on our change room door. We were always told not to advertise the fact that you could have whatever you wanted on your burger. That was 1993.

  • It is just Kraft Thousand Island Dressing.

    • I think you need both your eye-site and taste buds checked..

      • +2

        sight

Do you also think that McDonald's tomato sauce isn't Heinz Tomato Ketchup? That's what is was up until recently when burger king and 3G bought Heinz. Heinz tomato ketchup, but some clandestine underground top secret area 51 installation making the 'secret sauce' ok. And the Mac ketchup is a different colour but it's the same stuff. And McDonald's coke syrup soda mix tastes different to coke out of a bottle, but it is still coke. So no, I don't need my eyes and taste buds tested, but you would know what kool aid tastes like.

  • Hen house in penrith have the recipe down and they give you more for the same price.
Its a tub slightly bogger but no air gaps when the lid goes on. Sauce is topped to the brim.

  • just sent the missus to get 20 of 'em, and a couple boxes of big beefers & soft buns. Hopefully homemade big macs taste decent

  • free small fries and small drink with purchase of 'big mac'?? but how much does the big mac cost. and how come big macs keep on shrinking each year? LOL

    • +1

Maybe you have Gigantism, and its your hands getting bigger.

  • had a fkn big mac today (was enticed by the free fries and coke) . more like small mac. was still hungry so had to buy a sundae. sundae was yum… but still… not happy jan

    • Would've been better off with HJ's Stunner Meal in the end!

      • true, no HJs near my work unfortunately :(

        • That's alright. I did the same. I bought a cheeseburger too!

  • "Everything tastes better when it tastes like the Big Mac" We agree to disagree on that one. Also Big Mac special sauce is just a variation of Thousand Island dressing.
