  • will this be at stores as well?

    • Maybe time it well for price match at a store that has stock.

  • Where is it advertised? In store only?

    • +1

      In store at midnight?
Deal link to emailed ad states online only. And probably plus delivery charge on most items.

$44 for a 'Laser 10" MID-1028 Tablet'. Not bad as i was looking for a 10'' tablet to read some digital magazines!! Thanks for the info!

    • +1

I know it's $44 and we can't complain blah blah but 1024x600 resolution is killing the deal!

      Prod - http://www.laserco.com.au/mid-tablets/MID-1028

      • +2

yeah, i just found an old offer for these same tablets here in ozb and read the comments, i guess it's a really bad tablet

        • +1

          link please?

        • @edgar28:
          Seems to be https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/160584

          No Bluetooth, no GPS apparently.

HN stock the different but similar spec 10" MID-1060 for $199. "Perfect For Children"

After the atrocious DgTech 7" from DS which was advertised with different specs to delivered unit, I put in a PayPal dispute & was almost immediately refunded, so ended up with a free but crap tablet.

        • @brucefromaustralia:
          yeah that's the MID-1060

          The MID-1028 has 4.4.2 android.

The MID-1040 in Youtube stated improved screen…… so not sure how bad is this MID-1028

      • Tablet on flyer says RRP $79 buy for $44 during happy hour.

Click the flyer link and page says $99 save $30 THAT'S A $30 SAVING
        Offer ends 09-Feb-15.

        http://www.dicksmith.com.au/tablets-accessories/laser-10-mid…

        • the youtube 1040 version seems screen is acceptable. if the 1028 version is the same that will be good at 44 dollars

      • +1

meh got random neg by posting product information.

      11am to 12pm

    • Re read the details, its from 11am-12pm

    • not now.Maybefrom 11 AM to 12 PM today

      • +4

        Shipping kills the deal.
        No pick up option.

  • +7

    Haha. The HDMI cable $44.98 -> $2.98.

Makes it pretty hard for them to justify their normal mark up.

    • +9

Probably still making $1.50 profit even @ $3.

      • +5

I bought these last time when they were $2 or $3. When I picked them up the guy was shocked at the price I paid. He looked up the cost price of them and they were $7 from memory, so apparently they are below cost (note cost isn't necessarily just the cost to make it, but also all the overhead costs that get applied to everything before profit is applied)

        • +2

Operating cost model for online business is different to bricks & mortar shops. I'm sure they (online unit) are still making a profit. If not for this online-only offer, the item would still be sitting in the store unsold because nobody's going to pay that ridiculous price. So it's a win for DSE.

    • +1

      Only delivery though

  • PS. Eneloops are already showing up as reduced.

    • +2

As are the panasonic power banks. But $6 shipping kinda kills it…

  • But how much is for the delivery?

    • +1

$6. Only the Eneloop charger + 4 AA's is showing up for click & collect. PITA.

      • +1

No eneloops available for click & collect in the Melbourne 10km vicinity unfortunately

        Edited: 20km even

  • OZB style - Any coupon for free shipping…

  • +4

Any idea of the quality of these microSD cards? I might grab a few.

    • +2

They are class 10 so they are as fast as a normal sized SD card from my google-fu

      • There can be a very big variation in Class 10.

Many can read/write much faster. Some are only good a single large files and really bad at smaller files which occur in phone/tablet applications.

As there is no click and collect, you would need to buy several to make it worth it. Not sure it is worth it.

  • Does the items have to be checked out in the time slots?

  • +1

Hopefully can click and collect, but can't check with reduced eneloops as cart keeps crashing :(

  • +4

And no console deals :( Dick Smith pls

  • +1

The eneloops are already reduced and its not 1PM yet

  • +2

    Really don't need anything but…

AquaJams, i was thinking of getting them the last time they were on sale… But has anyone got a review for them?

    • Well the bike mount sold me. I'll soon see how good it is.

      • +1

Got mine today. A little surprised by the packaging, but the device had very little charge to begin with. First impressions were good for the price I paid, but I'd have to listen to it more.

      • +1

I got mine today as well. Just fitted the bike mount; here are my observations and impressions:

        • It was a bit tricky at first to juggle the multiple items (e.g., GPS, bell, reflectors, light) on my handlebar, but got it all on eventually.

        • The bike mount is a plastic two-piece design - there's a hinged section (thin metal rod in the hinge) that clamps onto the handlebars, after which you slide on the part that speaker rotates and locks onto. The slide on part is locked using a catch that is spring-mounted. It was a bit tricky to lock the speaker on, but got it on eventually. One concern I might have is the ability for the plastic clamp to hold up over time - especially after significant UV exposure - I wouldn't tighten it too much to reduce stress on the part as it doesn't feel very robust.

        • The sound quality is not bad at all (at least when stationary) - I haven't tried it when riding yet.

        • +2

Update: sound quality is very good while riding - can still hear it very well.

    • There's a website, www.aquajam.com

The contact information shows a Hong Kong phone number.

      • Since when do you trust the manufacturer to give you an honest review?

  • +4

    Tandy 16GB MicroSD class 10 $3.98 (was $39.98) limit 500

NO DEAL THEN. I need 500+..

    • +1

If you know some good suppliers, China can get damn close to that

      • +1

        pretty sure he was joking

        • +1

I think he was just calling his bluff.

        • +1

@luke73: Limit has been reduced to 200..

EDIT: LOL read the wrong line! 32GB are 200..

    Canon IXUS 145 $79… coughs

    • +3

Why? Saw them ticketed at $109 last night at BigW. That makes this a bargain!

… only if you missed them at Kmart for $3.75 (after Cashback & 5% off PayWave etc) :-)

$20 Cashback has now ended on new purchases.

  • +1

anyone got the $99 TV? and if so is it any good.

    • was there?

  • +1

Delivery only on the batteries. And their standard delivery price has increased from $4.95 to $5.95. So a pointless deal unless you buy bulk batteries.

    Dick, you've done it again.

  • Google Chromecast was $49 and still is $49. Where's the discount? The email says 40% off DS accessories. Click on the link and then it says up to 40% off.

This bag was $19.98 the other day but now it's $32.98 on sale.

    • +6

It's arguably a device, not an accessory, it's not a DS branded item and it says up to 40% off, which includes 0% off.

      • +8

I up to 100% agree with you ;-)

      • Well that is true, but you think they would only include items which were on sale. If you click on 30% off selected branded accessories, then click on TV & Video accessories, then the Google Chromecast is the first item to appear. It really should not be included if it's not part of the sale.

        • +1

Yeah, I noticed that too. I think the discounted stuff has some red text though, telling people it's part of the sale.

        • @strangeloops66: Well my issue is again that DS have raised the prices on certain items and are now selling them more expensive under this sale then when they were not on sale. See the DSLR camera bag example I quoted because I just bought that the other day.

        • +3

          @unity1:

Your bag is now -40% off, lol.

  • +4

Good deal on the Momentums at that price!

  • Just want to say the website is slow as hell atm…=_=

  • Just ordered some Eneloops and it said $5.95 shipping at the checkout but in Paypal it only charged me for the items, not the shipping. Then it sent me back to the site and added the shipping back in. I have no idea whether or not the shipping has actually been charged…

    • +1

I believe the link between PayPal and Dick Smith will still be live after being sent back to the DS page. Something similar happened to me recently with another mob, and going into PayPal afterwards, the shipping charge was included.

      • +1

I got the confirmation email from Paypal and it did include the shipping. It's a pretty underhanded tactic though, regardless.

  • +2

I wonder if the Hitachi tvs still have any quality about them.

  • +2

    Is combined shipping available?

Can you add items from deals throughout the day and checkout at the end of the day and still retain the deal prices on items? cheers

    • Was thinking the same, but I bet you can't. Love to be wrong, though :)

      • +3

just called them up to find out - you HAVE to checkout before the deal ends every hour if you want those bargain prices

which means paying $10(melb) shipping for every batch of items I buy during deals at different hours :(

        • +1

Thanks but it doesn't surprise me. That's why they've split the deals up, so you can't just get all the good stuff and pay minimum shipping. Thanks for the info.

        • +2

Actually, I think the guy on the phone was wrong, my cart is still showing $1 for those Fujitsu batteries from last hour's deal!

Gonna wait for those micro sd cards before checking out, hopefully it works and just get charded once for shipping

  • Ah dang… apple 10% discount excludes iPad… got excited for a split second

    • +8

Here's a plan; buy any other tablet with similar specs; then you'll get a discount of 50% or more.

      • +1

Would love to but its a gift for my in-law and he specifically wants an iPad air 2, nothing else :(

  • Tv prices have changed already by the way

  • How many Momentum's do they have? Why don't they list a number?

  • +4

Shipping kills the deal for the hdmi :(

    • +1

Yeah will just get them on Ebay

  • Tried to buy the HDMI cable but no Click and Collect even though it was available at full price.

So that makes it a normal deal on par with eBay not a good deal.

    • I'd say worse. You could get a 2m HDMI cable shipped for less then $9.00

  • TV specials are much worse than at least two previous sales.

  • +1

Glad I got in early on the $99 Hitachi TV. Sold out.

  • +3

The 2m HDMI cable is $8.93 with delivery for me.
    Selby 2m is $6.99 delivered fast -
    http://www.selby.com.au/2m-high-speed-hdmi-cable-sa4356-2m.h…
If your not in a hurry $2.86 delivered from Buy In Coins (not sure about quality) -
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2M-HDMI-High-Speed-V1-4-AV-Full-H…

    • If you've read the CNET guide, short HDMI cables either work or they dont work. Regardless if they cost 50c or $1000, and most of them do work. They pretty much do the exact same thing.

      • It can still work and be poorly made, that was my point.

        • Then if you know that, I bought several hdmi cables.. 4 years ago from eBay. Do you know how much they were? 9 cents. Including delivery. And they work fine!
I was just a bit horrified at how much you paid for yours!

  • +1

Anyone tempted on the bigger TV screen offers - Pana TH-60AS700A - $1299, Pana TH-55AX670 (UHD) - $1399, LG 55UB820T (UHD) - $1499? About 15mins left on these deals at time of this post.

  • +1

So just for web browsing and watching movies on a plane etc, surely the Laser 10" tablet with dual core 1.5Ghz / 1GB RAM / 8GB on-board is ok?

…or is there a better 9" to 10" alternative for around the same price?

    • +1

there is no 10" tablet for $44 or less… at this price range you dont have much choice.
You cant even buy a used ipad 1 for that price. Hell you probably cant even buy a cracked screen (but working) one for that price.

FWIW - if you just browsing with 1 window on a website that isnt cluttered with flash = ok

movies - if its 720p 2gb per movie rip then I think it will not play properly. SD movies only

      • Cheers mate - sounds like it will work for me :)

  • Is that a good price for fitbit? Were they not retailing for 99 before xmas?

  • Be aware that the iPad photo scanner apparently doesn't work with iOS 8:

    http://www.productreview.com.au/p/kaiser-baas-ipad-photoscan…

Is that a good price for the laptop for the specs? Am going overseas next month so looking for something..

    • The Toshiba has basically the same specs for $150 less.

      • +1

        Same?
HP is i7 and Toshiba is i5. They are not the same.
