Free 'The Bar' 40g Chocolate Bars (for ING Direct/Coles Cred Card Customers) @ Coles Express

780

The same deal as December, back on for February.

You receive a voucher every time you do a balance enquiry or make a withdrawal at a Coles Express ATM in store. These bars usually cost $2.45 & there's around 8 flavours.

ING Direct will refund your ATM fees for both of these ($1 & $2.50). You can also use your Coles Credit card to make a balance enquiry if you prefer which is fee free. Non ING / Coles Credit Card users have to pay the $1 fee.

One bar per voucher, can use multiple vouchers though. For example 4 balance enquiries = 4 vouchers = 4 chocolate bars.

Vouchers available until 4/3/15, but can be redeemed until 18/3/15.

ING Reminder: "Every single ATM in Australia is FREE. Simply deposit $1,000 or more per month." Coles credit card customers have no such requirements.

Another ATM voucher offer which is quite good: $2 Coca-Cola 2L Varieties

This is a great reminder of the free ATMs with ING. It's great being able to use even pub ATMs for free.

So is elevator farts. Doesn't mean they are enjoyable. :)

They are if you're the culprit.

    • Agreed. Some were downright horrible-tasting (can't believe people actually buy them)

  • I found some pieces of plastic in one of those bars i purchased.. complained and sent them off to the company, never heard back.

      Next stop - Today Tonight…

  • So the atm gives you the voucher to show the person at the counter or do you just show them your balance sheet?

    • +4

The ATM give's you a dedicated voucher for the free bars, you take the bar(s) and voucher(s) to the counter for scanning. Here's a pic from December's deal.

Made use of this deal last time but must say, didn't really enjoy the bars!

  • One bar per voucher, can use multiple vouchers though. For example 4 balance enquiries = 4 vouchers = 4 chocolate bars.

Your ability to claim multiple vouchers at the one time though depends if the teller/operator is aware of the conditions. If the conditions at the bottom of the receipt are the same as last time, it will say one bar per voucher, per person, per day (or something to that effect). Hence, only one bar could be claimed at a time.

lol damn here we go again … spent weeks collecting these vouchers and trying to redeem them all before the expiry. Ended up with like 30-40 bars total.

    • I did the same!

Brilliant that the deal is back!

  • Can't you just do 1000 balance equiries at the ATM?

    • +5

Technically yes. However there are the following issues:

      • It would take about 8 hours to do 1000 balance enquiries. You may also need to take regular breaks and let people waiting behind you use the ATM.
      • Staff members would become suspicious.
      • Your card company may block your card or ring you on the way to 1000.
      • You still need to then redeem 1000 bars, I doubt any store has more than 50-100 bars on hand, you would need to visit many stores. It also depends on how the staff member understands the terms 'Limit of one free The Bar Counter bar 40g per coupon, per person, per day' They may argue that means 1 bar per person, opposed to 1 bar per coupon per person. When doing 4 or 5 at a time I haven't had any issues and I've done it at a heap of stores, neither have others from what I remember, however if you are doing 50-100 then they may look closer for technicalities.

I've been refused claiming multiple bars at the one time at a few servos.

        • Im curious, if you walk out, put the bar in your pocket, handbag.. And walk back in, can you claim another? Technically its a new transaction lol

(Yes, i'm pretty good at making other people wanting to shoot me)

        • +1

          @Azn310:

1 coupon redemption per person per day is what is written on the coupon so technically they can refuse you

Yay it's back. Although the last few times I went to get one, the operator wasn't very happy and made a petulant show of his displeasure by slamming down the bar after scanning it and snatching the voucher from my hand.

Ugh, reminds me of the "free diet coke" coupons 7/11 had a couple years ago. The shop clerks looked at you like you've just punched their mother when you tried to claim it.

    • +3

Geez, its their jobs.. This make me want to print little cards that says 'you ve been ozbargained' and slam it right back at them

    • You mean raspberry? Didn't know there was a cherry.

      • +1

There is a dark chocolate and cherry as well - in purple wrapper

These bars are good for those who are on diet, because they taste like cardboard. Took me 2 weeks to finish 2 bars, and every time i eat it was like torture, definitely worse than my workout session.

P.s. Some store wont let you use multiple vouchers, it depends on the cashier, but no hurt in trying.

  • this is another mind game with the checkout operator whether they willing to give you 2 or 3 chocolates in a single visit. most local shell around me already aware of this…
