    Transistor is an awesome game!

I just up voted to annoy the 'not a deal' crowd.

    • +5

Im prettt sure nobody could dispute this is not a good deal. I think the rage come from the use of the word free.

Free would suggest you get something for nothing which is not the case. Just saying :p dont hurt me

      • Same logic as free iOS games/apps needing a paid Apple device, or Costco deals requiring a Costco membership. The deal stays :-)

        • +9

Not at all the same logic as needing an apple device, that would be the same if they were free to all PS users, which they are not.

        • +1

@PoxyRadical: Don't make me do the Chewbacca Defense.

        • @muncan:
          Ok, you won me over.

        • +5

They're not free because if your subscription stops you lose access to all of the games.

        • @PoxyRadical: well technically you can keep making one month trial accounts? ;)

        • @Where's_That_Cake: well, yeah, true.

        • @Where's_That_Cake: how u make 1 month trials? I've only seen 14 day trials in the past

        • @Slo20: I think you make a new account and it offers you a trial. Never done it, I'm a paying member and couldn't be assed with that.

        • +1

          @Slo20:

Not sure about 1 month but this is one way to get a 14 day trial without requiring a credit card, which can be repeated infinitely:

          http://www.se7ensins.com/forums/threads/ps-trial-w-o-credit-…

        • If the glove does not fit, you must acquit!

        • +1

Same logic as free iOS games/apps needing a paid Apple device

Okay, I paid for PS4 but not PS+. How do I get the game free? If you buy an iPhone you can grab a free app and use it forever without having to pay any subscriptions.

        • @Agret: scroll up just a few cm

        • @muncan: Do you need to do this procedure on a PS3? I only have PS4 and it doesn't work, asks for credit card even though it's a Brazil account. Thinking of getting a prepaid credit card to see if that works, not sure where is a good place to get one though. Do AusPost/Coles do them?

      • -6

        Agree

  • +1

    apotheon is suprisingly fun

    • +4

Same with Xbox Live, these are deals according to site rules.

        • +12

          K, cheers :p

    • +2

70 games a year for $70… sounds like one of better deals on this site.
Most of the other posts on this site aren't 'free' either, you gotta spend money to make money.

    • -2

"Not really a deal, you have to pay a monthly service for this."

I don't understand that mentality. It's like saying free food is not really a deal because you shit it out after a few hours. :P

      • No, its like saying 'pay me $5 and I'll give you a FREE loaf of bread!'.

It's not free, because you gave to pay money for it.

        • $155 worth of games for under $5, how is that comparable to a loaf of bread?

        • +2

@AXOi: I think Mik is refering to the "free" status. No one is saying this isn't a good deal.

        • +2

Are we talking multigrain at least?

        • +1

          @britta:

Exactly. I do believe it is a good business model, but please people, stop saying its free.

  • its been looking a bit poor for ps3 side of games lately.

    • +6

I don't know, they get two AAA games again. There are a lot of Yakuza fans out there.

      • is that an OK game? when I got the ps+ email the other day they two choices didnt look much, maybe its my taste.

But is still think ps+ is great value.

        • +4

I've never played the series tbh but I know it's a bug thing in the East and it has enough fans across here to warrant localization.

        • +2

This is what I had to say about it. For "free" it's definitely worth giving at least a couple of hours to in order to see if you dig it… http://gamesblip.com/review-YAKUZA4.htm

          @flumpf:
          thanks.

is there an ozb gta 5 group? or regular destiny players?

    • +3

I was a regular player of destiny, but its really boring.

      • mine is still in the shrink-wrap

        • +3

May as well sell it while you can.

      • +1

        Was that a Dorothy Dixer?

        • I just looked up that term. Very funny. He asked the question and I saw the opportunity.

    • I found it easy to go to the destiny subreddit or destinylfg whenever I needed someone to play with.

  • -4

nothing good for ps4, fortunately i still keep ps3.

    • Well glad you decided that for us all, nothing to see here people move along, lol.

FYI, Transistor scores an 83/100 on metacritic, Apotheon has yet to receive a score on PS4 but on PC it scores 84/100 whereas Yakuza 4 scores 78/100 and Thief scores an average 70/100 on PS3.

So yeah, the PS4 games are higher rated games.

        • +7

And we don't need a joker telling us there's nothing good for ps4, when there clearly is.

        • L O L

  • +1

FYI, Rogue Legacy is ridiculous addicting, so happy it was on this months free games.

  • Got a PS3 and a PS4 but no PS+ subscription

What's the cheapest way to subscribe? Any "deals" other than buying 12 months in advance?

Can I buy a coupon code on amazon.com US, which is currently only $49.99 USD (http://www.amazon.com/1-Year-PlayStation-Plus-Membership-Dig…) and use it to sign up in Australia?

EDIT: 50 USD is currently ~$64 AUD so the saving would be less than $6 AUD if that works

    • Also that would get you a US sub.

    • I signed up for the US subscription via Amazon because it's cheaper, and I would not recommend doing it.
There's marginal savings on the subscription and IMO it's just a hassle having a second account that you need to maintain and download games via. And if you want to keep those games you then have to maintain that PS+ account forever.

I now have an AU PS+ account, it costs only a few dollars more per year and all my trophies are on that account.

If you plan to buy most of your games through PS Store then maybe the US PS+ account is worth it.

      • Thanks, good to know.

If I buy a 12-month AU PS+ sub, I can sign into it on both my PS3 and my PS4 and get the free games for both?

        • Yep, I use it on ps3, ps4 and vita. Last months game The Swapper was one of the best Indy games I've ever played!

        • +1

You should also get the Vita games, even if you've got not intention of buying the system. They'll often be crossbuy, like Rogue Legacy this month. Sometimes the versions for different consoles comes out later, but if you've purchased it in the past you'll still be able to get the new version free (as happened with Hotline Miami, Don't Starve and Resogun).

        • You can actually do it all on the PS4.
With the PS4 games you select "add to library" and the non-PS4 games you select "Download".
But IDK if when I next turn on my PS3 if it's going to download a butt-load of games that I've been doing this for.
They appear in my library on the PS4 though, so I know I've added them to my account for possible future use :)

      • +2

I don't see the hassle with 'maintaining' a separate account to save 5-10% each purchase. It takes a few seconds to switch user, then purchase/download as normal. Once you've bought PS credit through Amazon, the next time there's a 'Buy another code' button and your code is available instantly. I've never played through my US account so all my trophies are in my AUS account too.

        • arent you then paying for 2 x different PSN accounts, one in AUS and one in USA… to play network paming on the playstation? this has always worried me.

also, with the AUD falling, say another 10%, any savings will be lost. (when it was AUD:USD 1:1 the benefits realised would have been far greater).

          is the above true ?

        • If you plan to buy most of your games through PS Store then maybe the US PS+ account is worth it.

        • +1

          @sachz:
You don't need to buy both…
You need your US account on the same PS4, and make sure the setting "this is my primary console" is ticked. Then any other user on that PS4 is able to use online gaming and has full access to your library of installed games.

I think you need to log in to your US account each time you boot up, then switch to your AU account, but that might be unnecessary.

        • +2

          @legiong:

This OzBargain. Just the $6 saved from the PS+ subscription for minimal effort is worth it.

And no, you don't have to log into the US account reach time you boot up. You never actually have to interact with it unless you're buying something.

          @sachz:

If the Aussie dollar drops any further, prices on the AU PSN will surely rise. There's practically no chance that we'll get a better deal than the US given the history of game pricing in Australia.

        • @dazweeja:
Cool, thanks for the confirmation about not needing to log into that account every time.
Though, for the huge expense of $6 annually I think I'll stay with my AU account :P

I'm not sure prices will rise on the AU PS Store, they never dropped when our dollar went to parity, so I don't know how they'd ever justify an increase from a fluctuating AUD.

        • @legiong:

I think you need to log in to your US account each time you boot up, then switch to your AU account, but that might be unnecessary.

You are incorrect, you don't have to sign into that account ever. You can even redeem the PS+ monthly games from your PCs web browser and queue the downloads onto your PS4 that's sitting wherever in your house in rest mode and it will auto download them ready for next time you want to play :)

      • +1

I use my US PSN as my main account, AU PSN is just for activating any DLC that comes with games I get locally. The deals are better on US PSN and you just buy the credit off Amazon in USD.

  • -1

How much for a PS+ sub in Australia?

    • $70

      • -5

Umm, I'll pass man, never paid that much for any game. Not a good deal, for $70 you could buy all these games and more at EB with secondhand games.

        • +2

that is a years subscription, with games for all platforms you use with a discount on top of that, even though it's not the best price, it's still good value, can't help get the feeling, your voting on something you don't fully comprehend…

        • -1

@Tal_Shiar: it's a good business model, similar to Netflix, just don't try telling me Netflix movies are free. :)

          Maybe instead of:
PlayStation Plus February Free Games (PS+ Subscription Required)

          would:
PlayStation Plus February Included Games (PS+ Subscription Required)

          make more sense?
