The black W8PL8 Olympic rubber coated weight plates have a 51mm diameter hole within a steel core ring, and are suitable for most Olympic barbells and dumbbells. The EZ lift handle makes these plates easier to grasp and load, plus give the user the ability to use the plates on a bar, as well as in isolation for training – in the same way you would use a dumbbell or kettlebell (eg bicep curls, front lateral raises, swings etc).

This plate is 355mm in diameter, by 50mm through (at it’s thickest point).

Pick-up available from our store in Reservoir, Melbourne, or cheap national delivery is available - starting at $8.

      Hah - not sure if srs but a good question none the less.

      The answer is no. These are rubber coated weight plates which means they are a cast iron plate covered in a 3mm rubber skin. If you drop them, they will break - if not immediately then eventually.

      The only plates that can be safely dropped are bumper weight plates - these are a solid rubber plate with a thin steel core that are designed to be dropped (powerlifting, olympic lifting, crossfitting etc). Even then, you still need the appropriate flooring to absorb some of the impact.

        If only the locals at my gym realised this. Even the quality coating on the Life Fitness plates can't withstand misuse.

          Weights are 'meant' to be thrown down. Its placing them down after a strenuous excercise, and hyperextending your muscles into awkward positions to place them gently that can cause injuiries at heavy weight levels.

      No, not at the moment. We will be clearing out some 20kg plates in a few weeks at around $2 a kg - but I'm not sure of the quantities yet.

      Good call. We actually had 20% off standard plates in December but I don't think we posted it on here.
