      It's an internal rechargeable lithium ion battery. Like a phone. Charges from Micro USB. About 7 hours from a single charge. Recharge time is 2-3 hours.

    searching with staticice, dick smith has this today for $129 special. Probably new models to be announced soon in May? Probably sub $100 soon.

        X5 isnt really the newer model … but not sure why everyone downvoted you so harshly! … Its a step up from the X3. Great price find and I believe a new low.

          X5 is the higher specced model of the X3. I got my X5 for $179 on special at JB, X3 was a bit too small and lacked the bass I desired. New models should be coming out soon hence the price drops over the past few months.

      Yes, X33 is coming soon, but only difference is Sony's new LDAC BT codec. Not useful for now unless you are into the latest Sony tech, otherwise no reason to skip on this current model.

      From what I can tell, the only differences are SBC, AAC and LDAC codec support, and the addition of DSEE functionality (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine).

      IMO, not worth the wait.

      To be more precise, you can't charge it while it's on. You still can plug it into the wall socket and listen to music.
