  • powerful 295Mhz processor

  • how did you get the 21st catalogue?
I can only see till the 14th

    • +2

      They've got the 21st catalogue in-store.
Windows tablet looks good, if slightly overpriced at $249.
Another budget Android phone, but this time around they've got a Windows phone as well.

  • +1

    Any idea of the model?

  • +2

A scan or a photo of the actual printer would be nice.

    • Actually, I'd be happy with a scan/photo of page from the catalogue

      • Did you miss the Time Machine they had last week?

        • Yeah, I must have. Then again, I guess you missed the first line of the OP's post…

From the catalogue hence no direct link and limited info

          And also BTRayne's post as well… :)

In any case, it's fairly common for Aldi catalogues to be available a few weeks in advance of the actual sale date.

        • @GreenGuava:

          I forgot the ;)

    • +1

A scan or a photo of the actual printer would be nice.

It'd be quite a challenge to scan the actual printer. ;)

  • +3

    Color or BW?

  • +1
  • My guess is http://www.fujixeroxprinters.com.au/en/products/multifunctio…

if so then its a good price.

    Edit : SNAP

  • I'd be happy with a model number…

  • +2

Toner yield is 2,500. Cheapest on Static Ice for the toner is $86.36.

    • +1

We purchased a generic toner on ebay for our Fuji MF mono printer, was about $20 delivered and was the larger sized version. Works perfect.

      • +1

I think I need to start buying generics… I've wasted a lot of money over the years… :(

    • I'm with you . Not sure why downvoted !! you're right

  • Duplex scanning too? Does it come with a starter toner or full thing I wonder? And wonder if drum needs replacing or if it is part of toner?

    • +1

Looks like the drum unit does not need to be replaced separately.

Genuine toners are quite expensive, however the compatible toners are under $20 @ 2500 pages, which works out to be less than 1c per page cost. Not bad at all.

the ADF can take 50 pages, which is very nice and very handy.

Printer is shipped with starter toner (1000 pages) - http://www.fujixeroxprinters.com.au/downloads/uploaded/DocuP…

      • the ADF can take 50 pages, which is very nice and very handy.

The number of pages is so misleading. The manual states 50 pages at 64gsm. Who prints on tissue paper? :)

Load up to 50 sheets of 64 gsm documents face up on the ADF with the top edge going in first.

        http://www.fujixeroxprinters.com.au/downloads/uploaded/M255z…

        • hah.. 64GSM, i wouldnt even know where to buy paper that thin.

I guess this makes the ADF cope with 30-40 pages for standard 80GSM paper, which then brings this MFP into line with other MFP's in the same price range.

        • @zeppeybabey:

It's the original Japanese spec that they are quoting (Japan use 64gsm as standard) :)

      • -1

When toner is gone , you buy a new printer. They come with 1/3 toner when sold.

    • The specs in the link state auto duplex copying

    • Duplex scanning too?

If it's the M255 mentioned above, then unfortunately no. It was released at the same time as the M355df which does have a duplex ADF.

      http://www.fujixeroxprinters.com.au/en/News/NewFujiXeroxmono…

      • The M255 is also listed as having a DADF so it should auto duplex copy/scan.

        • Where does it say that?

          M255:
          http://www.fujixeroxprinters.com.au/en/products/multifunctio…
          Scan Feature
Direct Scan to USB Memory Drive Scan to Application via USB (PDF/JPG/TIFF) Scan to Email, Scan to Network (FTP/SMB)

          M355df:
          http://www.fujixeroxprinters.com.au/en/products/multifunctio…
          Scan Feature
          Scanning Speed^ DADF Simplex: 21 sheets/minute (Mono) 13 sheets/minute (Colour) DADF Duplex: 7 sheets/minute DADF Duplex: 7 sheets/minute (Mono) 4 sheets/minute (Colour)

        • +1

          @eug:

It doesn't say it on their website. But I have access to internal information that lists both the M355df and the M255z as having a DADF. But you may want to check with FX Printers first to confirm.

          Cheers.

        • @stratbargain: It'd be strange for them to leave that great selling point out, but I hope you're right!

        • @stratbargain:

Maybe that's a compatible optional accessory?

But yeah specs say auto duplex copying. So why wouldn't it have auto duplex scanning? :S

  • Any other deals in that catalogue?

  • Colour? If so i have the 205 WiFi colour. cheapest I can find compatible toner is $40. Fuji software is very average and buttons on machine not very user friendly.

    • Most are saying it is mono from comments above?
Our mono Fuji mfp has be faultless in the couple of years we have had it.
Generic toner is available also… again, see above.

  • +1

Or pay $60 more and get the brother mfc l2740dw. Good reviews and does duplex scanning (scans both sides at once so saves time).

    • one pass two side scanning = less paper jamming on scanning :)

    • Where do you get a price of $210 ? That model is listed at $299 at Officeworks.

      • I did a price match. U can use skycomp.com.au and get it for around 220

        • Thanks for that. Have decided to get one. Is slightly less than Skycomp here http://www.warehouse1.com.au/epages/shop.sf/sec78640daec1/?O…. $235.34 delivered to me in metro Sydney - so will use that as a price match. Does it come with any toner - and do you have any recommendations re purchase of toner ?

        • @belbo: Please let us know if the price match goes forward :-)

        • @fryandlaurie: Howdy. Price-matched at Officeworks Alexandria today. $220.77 after 5%.

        • @belbo: Thanks for letting me know. I managed to snag a Fuji from a distant Aldi. However, after setting it up it seems I might have to return it. The software is a bit buggy :-S

        • @fryandlaurie: What issues have you come across?

        • +1

          @GreenGuava:

          • doesn't recognise some USBs for some reason (checked on other computers and they work fine, fat32).

          • Printer doesn't seem that sturdy. Quite cheap plastic

          • Power cord supplied is painfully short

          • Most importantly, it's wifi b/g only meaning that the whole wireless network is forced to go into G mode. At least the Brother MFCs have wireless N…

          • the software is not the best. Driver is OK.

In my opinion, spend a little bit extra and go for a similar Brother MFC with or without duplex scanning. I think I might be returning mine.

  • +2

    $181 @ HN

    Possible price match?

    • Page not found. Seems hardly normal didn't want to sell to the "professionals".

      • It was there two days ago. Maybe aldi bought all their stocks

  • so, how do we know which store will have this printer?
second, can we come the night before just few mins before close and hope they already put the printer out on display?

    • +1

It's in the catalogue, so all stores should have it. As to quantities, we'll that's another thing. Not sure if they'll have stock out the night before, or whether they'll sell it to you even if they do. If not, your best bet would be to get to the store before they open on Saturday.

  • -2

so is this a colour or black n white printer?
is this a laser printer or ink?
    none of these are said..

    • Read whole post, two people gave link to the official Fuji website

    • looks like an LED printer. I don't really know printers, so i had to look it up too. I thought it was either inkjet or laser, but it seems LED is similar to laser. It's also a monochrome printer ie black and white.

  • would it have airprint so i can print from my iphone?

    • I don't use IP, but there is Airprint function.

  • I just got one, try to configure it with my pc via wireless. and to setup fax as well.

    • Is it black n white?

      • Only black and white

  • Has anyone bought or used one yet and able to confirm model and if duplex scanning ? BTW - I believe this is a laser printer. LED refers to the scanning technology. We recently bought 3 of their docucentres for work - also LED laser printers.

    • No duplex scanning. Only one is the brother mfc l2740. Does duplex scanning I pass both sides. Officeworks price match around 220

      • okay so what you mean is no single pass duplex scanning (scanning both sides at the same time) but it does do auto duplex scanning double pass?

(although i really could just confirm myself since i bought the damn thing this morning.. but haven't had time to set it up yet)

  • +1

The model is DocuPrint M255z. Not sure about duplex scanning but I don't think so according to the spec sheet from the website.

If you haven't already bought one, I doubt there'd be any left. At opening, my local store had three on the floor. The guy in front of me took two and I got the last one. All gone within 30 seconds of opening…!

On a related note, does anyone know what the defauly Username and Password is for the web interface? The manual I downloaded from the Xerox website says 11111 and x-admin respectively, but it doesn't work… :(

Also, the specs on the website say 1200dpi max optical scan resolution, but the max I can set via PC and also directly on the printer is 600dpi. I'm guessing the spec sheet might be inaccurate.

    • yeah, I missed out too. I hope there is more stock coming :-(

    • +1

The manual is correct. 11111 is the username, it's working for me.

      • Thanks for that. I had to reset to factory settings (by reinitialising NVM) before it would recognise the default login. Kind of strange, but at least that's sorted.

  • Anyone else bought? Where all the people who crazy about australia post printer saga last month?

    • I was one of those "crazy about australia post printer saga" people… :P

  • There are 3 at my local store.
    Its only black n white.

  • Oh well. All sold out at 2 stores by the time I got to them.

  • For those that missed out:

There is a similar printer @ MSY for $110:

    http://www.msy.com.au/nswonline/peripherals/14827-fujixerox-… (ignore the picture)

    http://www.fujixeroxprinters.com.au/en/products/multifunctio…

It's a bit gimped but still has wireless and duplex auto. It has cloud print too which the ALDI one doesn't seem to have.

Here is the partlist title just in case:

Fuji Xerox DPM225DW DocuPrint M225dw A4 Duplex Multifunction Wireless Mono Laser Printer

    • I think you mixed up 225 and 255. What on MSY is just a printer, http://www.fujixeroxprinters.com.au/en/products/blackwhitepr…
The picture on MSY site is correct.

      • I might have. On their partlist it shows up as M225 though which is a multifunction. Please call ahead of collecting folks.

        • I see.
Actually on the website there is a reference code PRNFUDPM225DW which is obviously the DPM225. It will be interesting to find out which one is sitting in their stores.
