  • How the prices have dropped :)

    • My first G.Skill 60GB SSD was…. $244. Now I can basically get a 500GB one for the same price.

      • My first was a 60GB SSD for $500, and a 256GB for $1200

    • Eh, got the 512 Crucial for less a year ago from the US

      • To be fair the currency in that time period was as high as 94cents, whereas today it is now sitting at 78cents.

A fairer assessment of the OP's deal today would be to put the USD value of your 512 crucial into the currency converter with today's date and see what you come up with.

    • it was $239 at christmas

I offered it for sale after i realised i didnt need it anymore

And nobody thought it was a deal

      Whos laughing now suckas

      • lol, I think Amazon has felt a drop in Aussie buyers :)
I'm waiting for 1TB (or higher) drives to drop a bit more, I've got my old SSD's and a few 512BG Samsung 840 Pro's to keep me going for the next couple of years. I still use a 60GB SSD as the (Win7) O/S drive for my main games machine, though it's now at 28,896 hours, I'm hoping it will last another couple of years.
Love SSD's, would have there kittens if I could.

  • I note there's some samsungs in there too. Was it the Samsung evo 840s that had issues? or a different model?

    • +1

Yep, the Evo 840s. Having installed about 6 of them at work and having had them running for over 3 months, I can't say I've seen it myself but apparently the new fixed firmware and performance restoration wizard still doesn't resolve the issue for some folks (without having to run the performance restoration procedure every 3 months or so).

To me it looks more like a batch issue than design flaw, but either way the Crucial MX100 will give you as near as makes no difference, the same performance without any known firmware problems, and for a good price.

      • Thanks for the info. I won't go crucial though, as the size that's on sale is too big and expensive for me. Also not to mention I need to buy a new SSD because my current one is dying, and it's a crucial. :P

  • Your description says: "Crucial m500 data 512gb $255. About $14 less than before at 269", did you mean Crucial MX100? M500 is previous generation in 480Gb capacity superseded by M550 512MB model.
