So all I need is this:
    http://onequad.com.au/index.php?route=product/product&path=6…
And a 11v battery then I'm good to fly?
    Anything else?

    • Remote Control?

    • You can use an 11V battery, but we recommend a 4 cell 14.8 V battery.

    • Anyone know about the flight time for 11V or 14.8V battery? thanks

      • +1

About 9 minutes of normal flying, or 7-8 minutes of high-throttle flying.

A battery alarm is included so that the quad can warn you when the battery is getting low.

        • any battery can make it last over 20 mins?

          @garylo59:

No unfortunately this class of quadcopter (250mm) is geared more toward sport flying rather than cinematography type flying (like DJI phantom etc.) A larger battery will not gain significant air-time and would make the quadcopter more sluggish to fly.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYtw17i_CXU Here's an example of the type of flying you can expect with onequad sport.

Keep in mind its a kit, so you will need to build it.

As far as what's included, it looks like you definitely do need to add on a battery and remote. So its total cost to be flight ready is $173 before shipping.

Just got my kit. The lack of instructions makes it a little daunting but the kit looks like its a nice quality! Glad i've got something to do this weekend!

      • I m looking to build one but lack of experience

waiting on your product review :)

        • +1

Well its not for the faint of heart. I'm still yet to get mind off the ground. After killing the first flight controler and spending several days working out how to get it all connected i found that the channels on the controler were totally messed up. A common thing from the hobbyking controller apparently from the reviews i've read anyway.

I have a programing cable on the way to fix that up along with a charger for the batteries.

The guys at onequad have been really helpful, but i am kind of finding it hard to agree with them calling this a "kit" it has all the basics yes. But if you are totally new to the RC world and are not willing to put in several days researching all the parts to work out the setup and buying all the accessories you will need, don't buy this kit!

  • What is the camera situation? It is in-built? Or can you mount one?

    • +2

You can mount one like this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Mini-700TVL-1-3-Sony-CCD-Security… with a screen and tx rx antenna kit. Or a gopro if you just want to record

    • +1

Expect to pay an additional $100+ for basic fpv gear (cam+Tx+Rx+screen/goggle) for first person flying.
      eg. goggle kit: http://tinyurl.com/pgdjx6b

Cheaper options will likely require soldering skills.

      • That's $100USD + postage so you're looking at roughly $145AUD delivered.

        • that was an example, it can be done cheaper if you shop around and opt for screen instead of goggle.

  • Also its not plug and play, you will need to know how to solder (assumption here because i doubt they will do any extra work for that price). And some knowledge ie. not all motors spin in the same direction or have the same type propeller

    • +3

No soldering required! Control board is soldered and the ESCs, motors and wiring loom all have bullet connectors.

  • Bare in mind any usable FPV kit is illegal, with a limit of 25mw imposed by the ACMA. You need at least 200mw for any usable FPV flying. The ACMA to monitor this, and have vehicles designed to specifically hunt down FPV users. Penalties include confiscation, fines and jail time.

  • The kit is good value for the money, mostly Hobbyking parts, so you could build your own for less, but the flight control is decent for a 250 size quad. The frame is only fibreglass though, and won't stand up to many impacts (which will happen).

    • There are no hobbyking parts in the kit.

If you were to build your own using similar parts from hobbyking it would be much more expensive.

We have had some pretty significant crashes with this frame and literally never broken any part of it.

Well that's just flat out not true. Hobbyking are the only supplier of nano tech batteries, (they build them). I agree, its good value for a starter kit, but it does use Hobbyking parts. The flight control alone is worth $50.

        • You can buy the frame from hobbyking, but it isn't a hobbyking part… We buy them from the same supplier, Diatone.

You're spot on though, it really is good value for money. We managed to buy a lot of stock before the aus dollar went down hence the low price.

  • How much for shipping to Melbourne ?

    • Hi darkage, it should be under $10 postage for the kit.

      Cheers,
      Jim

  • Hi how long is it this price for looks quite good for price in interested quads quads quads cant stop buying them this might be my sixth

    • The sale is on until the end of Feb, so tomorrow is the last day!

  • Where are u based what is shipping to Canberra thanks

    • We're in Brisbane. Shipping is approximately $10 for the kit only.

  • Just wondering what would be the build time for one of these for a novice what roughly is the life on these motors is there soldering involved cheers
