No IMEI, No Problem!

While all our competitors require an IMEI number to activate your SIM card right before your travel date, WE DO NOT REQUIRE IMEI NUMBERS from you! This is because we don’t use third party activation portals, we activate via T-Mobile themselves. This means your card is preactivated for any date before January 1st 2016 through the most reliable source available, T Mobile themselves. Anyone who asks for an IMEI is using a third party to activate, and sometimes issues can arise from this. We don’t and this works out easier for all. Keep your private information in your own hands and avoid sharing this information where it is not needed!
When Does The SIM Card Have To Be Activated By?

We require your SIM card for this deal to be activated by the 31st of December 2015 i.e. You Should Be Entering The USA By Around This Time! For People Travelling After This Date Please Check Our Store Close To Your Travel Dates for More Great Deals.

What Do I Do When I Arrive Into The USA?

  • Hi Rep, if I have an existing T-mobile sim card any chance I can top up using my existing card and have it activated when I'm in the states (getting there late November)? Just so that I'm able to keep my existing number.

Edit: just checked your site and it asks me for the date I'm arriving into the USA, what happens if I'm not sure of the exact date when I will arrive?

    • Hi zxreth,
Unfortunately it has to be a SIM card that is activated with a new number. If you are unsure about your travel date, you can purchase then email us the date once you know (though please remember to do so).

      • Thanks Rep, and just to clarify if I happen to arrive in the states on the 25th of December 2015, the credit will not expire until the 25th of January 2016?

        • About the 24th of January I think but just about right!

Hi rep, can you please clarify what bands are required for coverage in Hawaii? I'm concerned I'll only get 2G. Thanks.

    • HI Cyssero, depending on the handset you have and its compatibility with T-Mobile's frequencies. You may get 4G data speeds should your phone be compatible with both 1700Mhz and 2100Mhz frequencies. Please check your handset specifications first, and see this link for more information. https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-4988

      • Most Aussie mobiles DON'T have the 1700MHz band, so are unlikely to be able to get full 4G speeds.

My understanding (from a store rep in the DC area @Aug 2014) was that T-Mobile were depreciating their use of the 1700 band, but this isn't what this support page says.

I'd be mighty disappointed if I bought one of these SIMs assuming that I was going to get full HSPA+ speeds, and ended up with a lousy EDGE data rate.

I don't think that missing the 1700MHz band affects LTE, so YMMV…

        Rep: Care to comment?

        • I am using a Samsung Galaxy S4 which supports these bands (4G (LTE): 800/850/900/1800/2100/2300/2600Mhz). So I'd like to know if I will get decent data speeds.

      • +1

@MadMapMan: We have found that the majority of our customers get good speeds (usually at the very least satisfied) with a combination of a modern phone and travelling within major cities. When customers phones are compatible with the 4G LTE max speed, they often still get a very good speed (subject to location as mentioned previously). Obviously like all countries the more you skew away from the more populated areas reception is sacrificed.
@Sumomaster: Most of our customers with a Galaxy S4 have experienced good speeds, so you should expect good speeds in most major cities even if your not at the full 4G LTE rate!

Thanks for the reply Rep, bought a SIM. Cheers.

  • AT&T have just released new GoPhone plans, 1.5GB for $45 or 4GB for $60, (with unlimited texting (including to Australia and calling within the USA and now Mexico on the $60 plan). Yes it's more than the T-Mobile offering here, but IMHO it's worth the premium if you want decent coverage.

I've been using my AT&T SIM for years; $100 credit keeps the SIM alive for 12 months, and you can change to a PAYG plan just before you leave the country. AT&T is a far better option for people who travel to the USA more than once a year, and their network is far better for coverage as well as frequency support on Australian mobiles (iPhone 6 works great on their LTE network).

Only downside is you need to get a SIM there. If flying into LAX, there's an AT&T store on Sepulveda around a mile from the airport. It's not as convenient, but may work better for some.

  • Say I buy the 5GB option, when I go overseas in April, I just plug the sim card in and it will start working?
Also how long does the block of data last for? 1 month from activation or one week???

    • +1

Hi! Yep you simply just insert the sim and away you go! All credit (calls, sms and data) lasts for 30 days from activation.

  • I'll be traveling to usa and Canada for 2 months. 1. Can I use the SIM card in Canada? 2. Do I buy 2 separate unlimited sim starting a month apart or buy 1 and then recharge there after a month?

    • Hi pamyz,
      1) This card is only for the USA so it cannot be used in Canada, sorry.
      2) You can either buy 2 separate cards from us and stagger the activation dates to cover your trip (though from one sim to another you will change numbers) or you can recharge over there and keep the same number (though you will have to pay full RRP there).

  • Any data plans for Japan? I heard t-mobile has free international data roaming

We expect the card to be on our site by hopefully next week!

      • Hi that is good news. We leave in June. So plenty of time.

Just wanted to say these guys are great, have just recently dealt with them regarding a group buy. Quick responses via email, patient with my questions and worked out a great group deal for us.

    • Thanks airball, your kind words make all the hard work more rewarding for us all :)

  • Hi there. I am travelling to Washington. IS there 4G coverage there with my handset? I am using a iPhone 6plus.

    • Hi tychiang82, you will definitely get 4G data speeds in Washington with the iPhone 6+

  • Can data be used in Alaska? The T-Mobile coverage maps shows Alaska coverage as "Service Provider".

    • Hi dfung, unfortunately not, as T-Mobile will be roaming through the local wireless provider GCI in Alaska.

      • +1

Can I use the unlimited calls in Alaska? Or is that also not possible with this SIM?

        • Hi dfung, Alaska is a US domestic roaming area. Calls and texts will be free but data will be severely capped according to T-Mobile support.

  • I'm going to be in the US for 5 weeks. If I get this offer for the 30 days am I able to later top up the SIM with $10 at a store to just cover sms & a couple of short calls (no data) for the extra week?

    • +1

      Hi ragdollbaby,
You absolutely can do that and use the $10 however you please!

  • +1

thanks op, got 2 sim cards

In USA using my unlimited tmobile sim I bought from these guys. Works a treat, fast delivery, perfect and happy. Would fully recommend

  • +1

Thanks op just ordered a card for trip to California in March/April. I missed out on the last deal (too slow) so happy this has come along.
    Cheers

  • Going in March and then December. Can i keep the same sim and recharge before Dec or buy another one?

    • You can do either, keeping the same sim you will get to keep the same number but will have to pay full price for the recharge.
If you got 2 sims from us it would be cheaper for December trip but each sim would have a different number associated to it.

  • Just wondering when does the SIM card because activated. I purchased a SIM and will be landing at 7am. Does the SIM activate at midnight of your activation date or does it activate just say during business hours? Thanks :)

  • Hi! To avoid confusion we try to activated about 12 hours before landing. Say about 8pm local USA time before landing. When this isn't desired or practical the sim is usually activated by 11am on the activation date!

    • so if the SIM isn't activated when I land at 7am I shouldn't panic and give it until 11am before I start pulling my hair out? haha

      • Exactly right! Haha

        • lol thanks for the info :D

  • Hi,
I was wondering if I can use the card into Xiaomi Redmi Note 3G with 900 and 2100 MHZ ?
    Thanks

    • Found it! :)
From the T-Mobile site: "•T-Mobile’s 4G LTE network uses 1700 MHz and 2100 MHz frequencies." So you should be fine!
      Source: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-4988
      Hope that helps.

      • Thks, OP. Doesn't it mean that it should have both frequencies rather than one ?

        • photos with the 2100MHz matching but not the 1700MHz have experienced good data speeds with our customers in the past - though to be honest we haven't gotten any feedback from a Xiaomi Redmi note before. We suspect it will be good speeds - if not 4G then high 3G speeds but there is only one way to know for sure :)

  • OP, have anything similar for Japan?

    • Yes we do! Can confirm we have literally just established a deal for a Japanese card. It is very new, can you PM us your email address and we will pass on the details and arrange something. otherwise it should be up on our site next week :)

  • Hi, what size sim would I need if I go out and buy an iphone 6?

AND, if for some reason I didn't end up going, could I just gift it to a family member, even though I applied and rec'd it? Cheer

    • You would need a nano Anna. And if you can't use it yourself you can gift it to anyone who is going to the USA, though you will have to let us know what the new activation date will be for them!

  • Any deals available for Europe? Previously used the Vodafone Italy 3 Euro a day deal, but that is no longer offered to buy here.

Going to Greece Turkey and Italy

    • Forgot to mention I really just want data, no need for calls or texts, or even a number attached

      • At the moment no we don't sorry. But we are working hard to establish a partnership with a European Telco to be able to provide this service. Hopefully this will happen sooner rather than later!

        • Thanks. Have got about a month until I would need to order so will hope for the best.

  • +1

Always has awesome service from these guys!

  • OK ordered the unlimited one, now all I need is a phone.

    • +1

      You're halfway there ;)

  • Hi OP, bother to reply to my query please ?

    • Hi yht, sorry must have missed the comment! Will scroll up now and find it. Sorry again

  • Big thumbs up for amazing service from these guys who helped me out after I was stuffed around elsewhere. They really went above and beyond. Thanks.

  • Can I swap my sim if I buy now for travel later it his year and in the meantime buy a new phone with a change in sim size?
Or should I wait for deals closer to travel dates?

    • Hi Coriander,
It is quite a common situation we get. Customers by for their current phone but before they leave they get a new phone with different SIM size requirements. All we ask of them is to mail is back the SIM and we replace it with the right size.
But of course you can just wait until you know what phone you will be taking also.

      • Thanks, my son's just given me a nano->micro adapter so I've ordered a nano-sim from you - I figure nano-sim+micro adapter will cover any/all phones on market.

Next question - if you activate 3-4 days before I go, are you able to advise my phone number before I leave?

        • Seems like you got all bases covered as far as SIM size is concerned!
We absolutely can give you the number before you leave if you don't mind having the card activated a bit early! Just let us know of your order and to email you the number and we will do so!

  • got sim cards today, thanks op

my sim cards have been through a sim cutter to turn them into nano sim cards, rather than being nano sim cards from the get go. would appreciate it if you let me know in advance next time rep, had some previous issues with cut sim cards pulling out sim pins

    • +1

      Hi madmouse58,
Glad the sims got to you quickly and safe. Apologies for not letting you know earlier about the cut sims. To be honest we have never had any issues with the cut sims so we are confident your previous experiences won't be recurred with our sims!
Ideal world (and we are working on this at the moment) is to make T-Mobile supply us with every size pre-packaged so it saves us the manual labour of cutting. We hope this happens sooner rather than later!

      • cool awesome, thanks! :)

      • A mild panic set in when madmouse58 said he had to cut his sims as I was sure I'd ordered nano-sims and didn't want to have to cut it.. To my relief my nano-sim, as ordered, arrived today.

        • sorry mate, what i meant was the sims were cut into nano sims by the company, they arent nano-sim sized from factory

  • Hi, TravelSIMS, mine has not arrived as yet, but I would like the number a couple of days before departure to to a lot of hotel and flight bookings etc.

When would I normally know the number? I'll need the sim in country for 29 days. So if it goes for say 31 days (?), I guess 29 days plus 2 days before departure = 31.

    • According to top post description, aims are activated for 30 days. If you activate 2 days before departure, you lose the last day in the US.

  • Ok thanks …. yesbut there are 31 days in May :(

  • Just bought 4 sims for a group buy deal. Great communication means a more reassuring transaction, thanks Michael! I will update when the cards arrive. Cheers!

  • For those who are considering using the sim in Hawaii, here's my experience when I was there two weeks ago.

I previously purchased the T-mobile unlimited 4G sim for $40 using the deal from this forum to use on my Samsung S5.

Activation was a breeze. I simply inserted the USA sim into my phone upon landing and got text messages from T-mobile with my new number.

In Hawaii, I visited Big Island, Kauai and Oahu.

Overall, I think the T-mobile's coverage is crap. However, unbeknownst to me, the card actually came with 100mb of roaming data which allowed me to roam onto the AT & T network when T-mobile data was unavailable. This at least allowed me to search for a destination on Google Maps and start navigation. My phone also roamed onto AT & T when there was absolutely no T-mobile coverage on GSM.

On the Big Island, I was on both the Kona side and the Hilo side. There was very, very limited 4G coverage. Most of the time, it's just on the barely usable Edge network, not even 3G.

In Kauai, there were more pockets with 4G coverage, but again it was often on the Edge network.

In Oahu, my phone was always connected to HSDPA. I don't recall seeing any 4G symbol on my phone. At Honolulu airport, at the departure gates, it was back to the Edge network.

So there you go. If I go to Hawaii next time, I think I'll go for at AT & T card despite its higher cost.

    • +1

Thanks for the thorough and useful feedback kyle! Based on your feedback and our own research we are working hard to find an alternate service for places like Hawaii and more remote destinations but with the reception of AT&T in these areas but better value for money than AT&T. Hopefully this works out soon for us!

  • "No extra charges to receive calls" … so if someone calls me from Aus whilst I am in the US, plse clarify how that is charged to the Unlimited one I bought. Many thanks

    • umm, it charges the person that calls, not the recipient. so the person calling you would have to foot the bill. you on the other hand wont get charged for answering the call itself
