    Because……Bacon

Yey! I wonder if this stuff tastes like fish too? Woolies bacon should be labelled fish/bacon. Their pigs are obviously fed crap that you can taste in the meat. Its interesting flavored bacon to say the least. Once you taste the fish in it, you always will…

    • …think Woolies bacon is a little fishy?

Edit: terrible thing is knowledge, eh negger without balls.

    • I got your back. Seems like chickens have more friends than pigs here.

    • How do you know the condition from said Pork Suppliers?

The link explains some of your question Cheapy. It's a perennial problem though I agree, hence the reason for my post.

I'd like one day to walk into a supermarket/shop and be confident of the origin of the produce I'm buying and the conditions that produce was raised in. For animal produce (eggs, meat, fish, dairy) that would mean good living conditions, and humane handling and slaughtering. I'm currently denied that in many cases and like most I'm complacent leaving it to others (RSPCA, industry, protesters including PETA, government etc) to keep watch and set standards.

If in doubt the choice is yours - you can walk out, buy something else or close your eyes and hope the retailer is conscious of animal welfare issues. Both Coles and Ww recently made some changes wrt their pork meat purchases (sow cages) although it's difficult to find out precisely what conditions the animals whose meat they purchase live and die under.

        • Do you think the Vietnamese in Footscray would source from better farms? It'd be worth the 10 minute train trip for me.

Ive heard criticism from some Koreans that Aussie Pork smells "different", and doesn't have the same quality.

        • @cheapy: You're having a lend, but I'll play. It's a multi-hour train trip for me so I'll leave you to ask the Footscray Vietnamese about their pork. Perhaps you could ask a Korean friend along to do the smell test at the same time?

    • I bought Free Range Primo Bacon instead. Thanks Possumbly.

WW prices for a lot goods are seriously hyped. The other day saw their "special" for pork fillet at $21/kg, original price over $30. Got some and found the butcher shop outside of WW just did $15/kg as normal price. Sunday went to Eastwood and found the Chinese shop only sold that for $11/kg, $10 if buy over 2kg.
