  • no bluetooth ?

    • yes there is bluetooth

  • Is this a better deal?

Apparently has 2G RAM and 250G HDD

Well it depends on what you value. 2GB of RAM = $35. A 6 cell battery = $140. The bigger hard-drive is nice but not a significant difference from 160GB.

I would definitely go with this unit.

Not a bad deal but does have very slow processor

  • I bit! Been waiting to get a netbook and the slightly bigger screen is perfect, especially with a 6 cell battery. I will buy a 2gb ram upgrade though to make it just that little bit faster (to compensate for the chip). But at $395 after cashback and shipping how can you complain!? =)

I bought one of these but found the Z520 processor quite a bit laggier than the Atom 270/280. Everything about it was great apart from the pauses whilst it thought about responding. The Acer 1810T with Core 2 Solo processor is much faster. Unless you only want to run one or two applications at a time, or are more patient than me, I'd suggest paying the extra and getting the 1810T. But, great price for this machine :)

    • The lag isn't the Atom, its Windows. OS-X or Linux will run fine on a 400MHz PC, so install them on this and you'll be fine.
Actually, there are hacked versions of XP that are fast too, but it is a bit dated.
