Available for Pentax

RRP $899

It is ideal for landscapes and panoramic photography.
Because of its equisolid angle projection system, the lens can be used for scientific applications.
The minimum focusing distance of 5.3 inches allows the photographer to have fun with placement of subjects extremely near to the camera with distorted backgrounds.
SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass employed for effective compensation of color aberration, Super Multi-Layer lens coating reduces flare and ghosting and assures high image quality throughout the entire focal range.
In the hands of a photographer looking for creative expression and the opportunity to explore and create, this is the ultimate creative tool.

    "ideal for landscapes" :)

    • Hmmm interesting..

Sorry mate. Meant to up vote you but hit the neg with my big fat finger on my phone. Apologies.

    • Ideal for taking photos of your mates skateboarding, then throwing it in the closet after a week and never using it again.

wow very good price, but I dont think you can get the $10 off for an online purchase.. Or at least the code I was sent you could not..

    so tempted…

    • Thanks, I shall remove it.

  • Great price… but there are other $500 lenses I'd get better use out of…

    • Which is…

      • I'm a Canon guy, so…

        Canon 50mm 1.4
        http://www.eglobaldigitalcameras.com.au/canon-ef-50mm-f1.4-u…

        Canon 85mm 1.8
        http://www.eglobaldigitalcameras.com.au/canon-ef-85mm-f1.8-u…

Obviously there are other brands that make decent lenses in this price range, too.

(Links aren't necessarily the cheapest price, but for illustrative purposes)

        • Why would someone after a fisheye consider those lenses?

        • @Orpheus:

They wouldn't. If you are confused about my comments, read over them again.

        • Very interested in the 50mm 1.4, but have always been curious whether to go the Canon or Sigma version.. Your thoughts?

@kirynflare: I have owned both. Definitely the Sigma. The new Art 50mm if you can afford it, otherwise the old Sigma 50mm f1.4 is still fantastic and better than the Canon version. My Canon was horrible and unacceptably soft wide open.

My only gripe with the Sigma is the minimum focusing distance is too long. Not sure what the minimum focusing distance on the Canon is though. The Sigma has some vignetting wide open but I personally think it adds to the image. I cant recall how the Canon compares in this regard.

I have Sigma's 35mm f1.4 Art lens which is attached to my camera 95% of the time. The build quality is great. My mate has the 50mm Art and it's equally good. They're well built, quick to focus and great value.

IMHO if you don't mind used gear, the older Sigma 50mm f1.4 can be found quite cheap. It's slower to focus but would be the best bang for your buck.

Hey guys, it sounds like this was a price error and only applies to the Pentax mount. (or at least that what I was told)

Website no longer allows you to order.

fingers crossed if you already placed this order.

For the Pentax is still a valid deal if you want to update title..
