  • I bought this bag last year. Fantastic. So much can fit in it. Travelled for almost 3 weeks around taiwan.

  • Insane deal. I paid full price and it was worth every penny.

This bag is maximum cabin size, so if you're a true OzBargainer and want to travel without paying luggage fees this is the way to go

  • Best investment for backpacking, love this bag

I bought it from Cotswold as well. Pretty sure there's a 20% discount code if you keep googling, iirc it's a scouts discount code

  • How do you get the code to work? I get the message "Voucher code not found. Please try again ensuring there are no spaces"

  • +4

I think there are dashes missing, this code works "AF-VOUCHCLOUD-AF".

Edit: Found another code "AF-RAMBLER-2P". Brings it down to $110.50 + delivery

    • That's weird, copy and pasted straight from retail me not.

Great find on the 20% cpupon. damn.

  • Osprey = top quality!

  • Bought the Osprey Porter 46 last year when it was posted on this site https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/144672

    great bag!

    • looks like the Porter was bigger, lighter and cheaper! damn, should have got one of those!

i have an Osprey hiking bag - it's great!

      • I read heaps of reviews on both before picking the Farpoint (the 55 which is this with a zip on daypack) for a trip a couple years ago. Consensus seems to be that the Porter is bigger and lighter, but the Farpoint has comfier straps so better suited if you will be using it as a backpack for any extended length of time.

        • Had a look at the Farpoint 55 too. As far as I could tell, the pack minus the 15 litre day pack looks different to the Farpoint 40.

Saw a review on the Farpoint 55: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OfE0Rg0zC9Q&feature=player_e…. Interestingly at about 0:50 the reviewer said "Unfortunately the Osprey Farpoint 55 is not "not legal carry on size due to its tall slim size and the peripheral aluminium frame that goes around the side." If so, it would not be compliant even with the day pack off. (Although it may not alter the conclusion, I should point out that the review was from a US source. Their rules for carry on are not the same. eg. I have maximum size carry on case from America which is a lot deeper and larger volume than the ones sold in Australia.) Anyhow, hopefully that does not imply a similar issue with the Farpoint 40, which is described as suitable for carry on.

        • @gizmojo: My description of the 40 as a 55 minus the daypack was a simplification.

The aluminium frame is definitely the bulkiest part of the bag. Most sites list the dimensions of the M/L size which is longer. The S/M measures just at 56cm.

I doubt it's possible to stuff 55L in and stick to the carry-on restrictions, I've only ever taken it with the daypack zipped on but empty or separately. The straps are great for compressing everything down. You will stand out due to the length and I did get inspected at a Jetstar gate but they OKed it.

  • Thanks. I have done exhaustive research on the best bag you can absolutely definitely carry on even if they bring out a tape measure and this is it. Yes I know everyone carries on their Porter 46s with not a care in the world but I'm paranoid.

    • you know these bags are soft so they have a little give. if there are any issues. just grab a shirt, pants or jacket out of the bag and wear it. you should be able to sqeeze this into their size check thingie. :)

      • I'll already be dressed like an Inuit.

  • plus postage from UK?

  • lewlz i was shopping for bags all week. was looking at either the farpoint 40 or Pacsafe Venturesafe 45. Ordered the Venturesafe but was out of stock so saved myself 330 bux and gonna use my schoolbag for my trip
    learn to pack superlight :)

  • What's the difference between the Small and Large size?
    Is it just the harness?

I'm a 170cm guy… not sure which to go for.

  • Thanks all, some of the research and knowledge in here saved me some effort. I needed a new backpack, qood quality, big, suitable for carry-on. Now have an Osprey Farpoint 40 on order from Cotswald Outdoor for A$119.50. (Hopefully not AKA "Codswallop Outdoor".)

  • AF-RAMBLER-2P seems to have expired. Any other codes?

    • AF-VOUCHCLOUD-AF, only 10% - That's what I used.

  • So that was a Boy Scout code I used- good one. Be prepared.

  • Mine arrived 6 days after I ordered it- Cotswold are an efficient outfit.

  • Great business to deal with, Thank you for the fast shipping.
