  • Isn't their heaps of these which are free? Like the ones by atar notes? And the other guys who made a couple of hundred free videos on YouTube.

    • Hi Justing197,

We believe our videos go into a deeper explanation of the Maths and help to fill in gaps where common mistakes can occur. Accordingly, SmartMonkey will help one understand how the Maths works, so students can consolidate their skills and apply them to any other problem.

    • Not specifically for AU yr12 study, but Khan Academy seems to have a lot of content for the right price.

      • Agreed. Khan Academy does have a lot of content, however it is not specific to Year 12 VCE. In our videos, we have ensured compliance with the Year 12 VCE Math Methods syllabus and included hints and tips which VCAA examiners look out for when marking final exams.

  • Math Methods

In English, the word is "Maths".

    • -1

In English, both Math and Maths are accepted. Don't seek a reason to hop on the bandwagon.

    • While I personally say 'maths', the full word is mathematics so it makes sense to say math as a shortened form without adding 's' on the end.

  • VCAA examiner reports usually have detailed solutions and what to look out for most of the more difficult questions and exam papers, so it doesn't seem too worth it, especially since it seems to be a major part of what this company is offering.

      Hi cooldude123,

You are correct in that VCAA publish solutions for all of their exam papers. However, a lot of the time, these answers skip steps on the basis of assumed knowledge. When we consulted a number of exam markers, we were told the most common error was that students also skipped basic steps when completing their exam, resulting in lost marks for incomplete answers. The case became worse when students with weaker abilities tried answering the problems, as these skipped steps led to incorrect final answers.

Our videos thoroughly go through each problem (including the basic steps), so that people of all abilities can understand the mathematical operations involved and apply them to any question. Moreover, our presenters also highlight important steps which examiners specifically look out for, so that users won't miss out on simple marks again. When these are read in tandem with the VCAA examiner reports, it will become evident that we are not simply providing answers, but rather, methods of getting the right answer all of the time!

      • Not true, I would suggest you forward the names of these Exam Markers to the proper authorities.
