  • Where do you guys buy AU power plug for WD drives from US? I have US to AU plug adapter but I still prefer to have a proper AU plug.

  • Does anyone know how the warranty works if we buy from Amazon? Do we have to return the unit back to them or can we do it through WD Australia?

    • If it's still within 1 year of your purchase date, Amazon will take care of it for you. Amazon support is excellent (especially their live chat support)
If it's over 1 year, you will need to return it to WD US. This is a bit hit and miss because you need to:
      - create a ticket via WD system
      - Run WD diagnostic utilities and post result to the ticket, etc
      - they will issue an RMA number and you will need to ship it back at your own cost.
It sounds scary but this is the standard warranty procedures.

  • Can these WD drivers be opened up and used as desktop drives still?

Last time i did this was a couple of years ago, just wanting to check…

I noticed the notebook size HDDs don't have sata port, so natively USB3.0 so can't mount them on sata slots.
