The cheapest fare I've seen for Adelaide to NYC - and on a great airline, Cathay Pacific. Great prices departing from Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney and LOTS of availability. Flights have a stopover in Hong Kong, not LAX.

My first deal to feature Adelaide - lets see how it goes!

Lucky Adelaide! Your deals are always high quality, I think you'll be fine :D

  • Anyone have any personal experience with climate this time of year in NYC?

    • +2

Been there in late March. Wasn't particularly cold (2 or 3 layers is sufficient). Pleasant enough to wonder around outside all day.

Note that NYC via HK from Syd is 30% longer route than via LAX. Not bad if you want that HK stopover though.

      • Thank you for your response! :)

    • Best time of year in my view. Beautiful mild days, cool nights. Bring a sweater for chilly evenings, especially as you get into mid Oct.

  • Best time for NYC in sept,..

    Avoids their summer holidays

  • +2

Qantas is showing up cheaper than those listed from Melbourne.
This is based on your links too :)

    • Updated.

      • Brisbane as well.

        • I already had that marked, or is this something else?

        • @IWantThatFlight:
didnt see it sorry, I just clicked the link and saw qantas.

      • Great to see you've updated it…
But why would anyone go Mel - Hkg - NY
As opposed to Mel - Lax - NY

dunno it doesn't silly to choose the Cathay route

        • +1

Some people prefer to go with Cathay vs Qantas and others prefer Hong Kong to LAX (and might want to add a stopover there).

You have a fair point though - if you want the fastest flight MEL->LAX->NYC is the way to go.

For Adelaide, this is the cheapest way to get to NYC and only a few hours longer than going ADL->MEL->LAX->NYC (Adelaide usually misses out, so that is a large part of why I posted this deal).

          @IWantThatFlight:

Agree.. how do you add a stop over in HK for this price?

        • @IWantThatFlight:

Would like to know how it is possible to add the Hong Kong stopover.

  • what's the best way to keep updated with deals for domestic flights within USA?

    • Comparison sites like price line, kayak etc will keep you posted. Was there last year and flew Southwest a few times, quite good for a budget carrier ,including checkins. Spirit has very low fares but after reading many bad reviews, did not use them, although one day I would like to try them out.

We do miss out here in ADL from time to time on flight specials, so thank you for the ADL specials.
Might have to look for your specials next time I fly

As a store rep, I can only post a limited number of deals. This means I have to choose deals that will get the greatest number of votes/clicks. If this deal goes well then I'll definitely post more when they come up.

      • Could I suggest a forum post for all the great deals and post a seperate deal for outstanding deals?

        • +1

It almost works like that - I get to post 2 deals a week, unless both make it to the front page and then I get 3 deals. Plenty of my deals don't make it to the front page (I now know, people don't care about deals to New Caledonia) so I normally allow for 2. Once I have posted them, then I have to wait till the next week. Unfortunately, this means that I missed posting a deal Melb->London for $956 return last week. Doh!

  • If you live in Canberra I suggest you take a flight to Sydney first and go from there

  • Nice deal.

  • Any specials for ORD with United. I gave them a go on my last trip a few months back and I must say they have stepped up their game. Was a better flight than qantas.

  • doing a manual search on their site, +150 for stopovers (both ways). be crazy not to (too freakin long in one go).

  • Store Rep, thanks for posting deal ex-ADL, unfortunately USA not on my radar this year (just been last year). Look forward to more ADL deals in the future! Thanks again.
