These Xiaomi Power Banks are becoming the new Eneloops.

    • Because they are amazingly cheap. Walk into Officeworks and see what they're selling 2000maH power banks for.

      • +1

With reasonable quality too. I've heard that they are using more Lishen cells (than Samsung or LG cells) now for 10400, but still for the price and quality, I think it's very hard to get something similar to these (though I am not really sure about 16000mah ones, at least the 10400mah ones were reasonable)

    • +1

I have both XiaoMi 10400mAh and Romoss 10400mAh, Romoss does charge more. XiaoMi recharges faster. Romoss has two outputs. XiaoMi looks nicer

  • I really want to pick up one of these, but:

    a) I already have a Romoss and Xiaomi 5000mAh Slim
    b) I don't travel anywhere
    c) I have an Xperia Z3 that easily gets 1.5 days battery life with 6 gmail accounts configured with push notifications

    Sad face.

Try having an Ingress addiction. Will make any device last 3 hours max

        • Try having an Ingress addiction.

I did that when I had my Nexus 5 and HTC One M8.. That's when I first found out about Anker and Romoss actually. Now Xiaomi seem to blow both brands out of the water.

        • @DarkRyoushii:

I was looking at a Rosmoss 10000mAh one, which I can get ~$10 cheaper.

I'm curious, on what basis do Xiaomi "blow them out of the water"?

          PS: Genuinely interested, not trolling!

        • @downforce:

I would say, more popular brand and more open about their specs.
State their expected capacity vs their advertised capacity only..
Xiaomi just seem more trustworthy imo, and the ratings/reviews/friend's opinions speak for themselves.

      • +3

Have you tried making phone calls / talking to people?

Yes but who calls people these days!?

  • @ Rep— Sent you a PM regarding my last order with a small concern.

    • +1

We have replied you in PM :)

  • So happy I got this back in the day for $26 from you guys.

Don't really take it anywhere travelling but it's becoming more handy to use this than to plug into a wall!

    • +1

$26 for the 16000 mah model, you sure ? I think it never went below AU $30

      • Around that, i believe it was about $22 for the 10400 and if you bought that one you got the 16000 for around 26. I remember it costing me about $50 for both :)

  • why does it says 16000mAh but in the graphic it says "at least 10000mah output capacity" so which is which? so does it come with any usb cables?
can you charge the battery and use the battery to charge the phone at the same time?

    • +1

Regarding the capacity, read this: http://www.hardwarezone.com.sg/review-xiaomi-16000mah-mi-pow…

Basically it's factoring in efficiency and varying voltage outputs (3.75v vs 5.1v for the two figures you've noted).

It does come with a USB cable, and you can have something plugged into the power pack when charging it.

      • hmm… the same battery is selling for SGD29.99…. :/

    • +1

while the original(not counterfeit) versions do support pass-through charging, I wouldn't suggest doing this too often, it'll kill the battery cells prematurely.

      • ok thanks for the tip Kenb0. i never knew it will cause premature degradation of the cells. is there some layman explaination you could offer? I'm not good with all this mAh and Wh thing (I'm trying to see if i can buy a few of these so it will last the flight to tokyo powering a tablet playing peppa pig…etc) if it helps, its a qantas flight which says max 101Wh

        • +1

Basically it just stresses the cells too much. This is what New Trent(makers of another battery pack I have been using over past 2 years and does support pass-through charging) said about it:

"We do not recommend charging your device from our battery while the battery itself is being charged from a power source, as this will severely stress the battery cells due to constant charging and discharging and will have a negative impact on the battery and the overall lifespan of the battery. At this time, we would advise all users to charge the batteries first, before using it to charge other devices.NOTE: This feature is being deactivated on all of the new batteries"

I've noticed it as well in practical use. I have two powerpaks(same model) from this company, and one I've been using pass-through charging consistently, and the other one, not as much. The one that's been pass-through charged consistently doesn't as much of a charge as it used to, while the other one is only slightly worse than when I first bought it.

    These use 5 x 18650 batteries: http://pic.pandawill.com/media/banner/650x147x2014-11-12_18_…

    5 / 16,000mAh = 3,730mAh

There isn't any 18650 batteries made by any manufacturer that have a capacity that high, Panasonic make the highest capacity 18650's at 3,400mAh.

They documentation says they use Sanyo/LG 18650s, the batteries in the image above judging by the colour are LG 2,600mAh batteries (18650-B4). I believe the highest 18650 Sanyo capacity is the same at 2,600mAh (in the UR18650FM).

That would give the power bank a maximum capacity of 13,250mAh, although more realistically due to resistance loss you might be lucky to get 12,000mAh at the most.

    • Hi, have you consider the way they saying is 16000mAh for 5 x 3.7v 18650 inside ? More in-depth review in here http://www.hardwarezone.com.sg/review-xiaomi-16000mah-mi-pow…

    • +1

      Do some research and math.

These use 3200mah LG cells. 3200x5 = 16000 at the cells voltage.

In fact xiaomi listed the expected capacity @ 5v as 10,800mAh.

So…yeah not sure where you learned to math.

      • +2

        Thank you for your explanation.
        Yes, you are correct.
Xiaomi power banks use LG 3200mAh 18650 cells.
The 16000mAh model has 5 cells inside.
        That's 5 x 3200mAh = 16000mAh capacity.
However, there is always loss during charging and recharging process.
It happens within your device, the charging cable and the power bank itself.
As a result, Xiaomi suggests minimum effective power transfer is 10000mAh.

        • -2

          That's a pretty big loss.

        • @lostn: Well, I guess a loss of 37.5% of total rated capacity isn't considered a big loss by the two people who downvoted me.

        • +1

          @lostn:

That's because the drop from 16000mAh to 10000mAh is not a loss… They're just different measurements of capacity at different voltages. Its like comparing inches to centimeters, the actual length of a piece of string hasn't changed, just the unit of measurement has.

      • Its clearly not 3200mAh LG cells in the image I posted above for the same product is using 2,600mAh cells, I did see the review hivboy1 posted showing the 3200mAh cells.

I didn't take into consideration that its 3.7v->5V, but the "capacity" you are talking about is the charging rate, Li-Po cells in phones and tablets are 3.7v so effectively you should get the same capacity the 18650's hold minus energy lost in resistance/heat.

        • +2

          You are 50% correct.
The image only to display it's basic internal structure.
It doesn't even show its cell model ID.
Based on it's color, it could be 2600mAh cell.
Xiaomi 16000mAh power bank uses LG's LGABE11865 cell.
          They are 3200mAh capacity each.
More powerful than the LGABB41865 cell they use in 10400 and 5200 models :)

    • This all asuming XiaoMi uses new and not recycled cells :P

  • Does the 16000mAh model just mean you can more than 1 full device charge from it before having to recharge the powerbank?

Would it charge my Xperia Z1C, wifeys Samsung G4, a Droid pad & an ipad without a recharge? Though both phones woulod be ok…

    • Yes I think it is a lot of power and can charge ipad full charge many time depend on the specification of the device. Example like Xperia Z1C use 2300mAh battery so with this 16000mAh can charge it full like 16000mAh/2300mAh = 6.9 times roughly.

      • +1

6.9 times assuming it's turned off when you are recharging.

My current pack is 3 times my phone capacity, but if I charge whilst using it, I usually get about 1.5 to 2 recharges out of it.

  • If I put this on a hub attached to an OTG + power cable, will the power bank:
    1) Charge while power is supplied?
    2) Power the attached device when power is cut?

    • +1

      Tested with UNITEK Y-2154
      1) Yes, the power bank can be recharged while the hub is connected to the wall power socket.
      2) No, it cannot bypass the power to charge another device that is connecting to the hub.
You need connect it directly to the device to be able to charge it.

      • Bugger. Thanks for your response anyway mate, will probably still grab one!

  • Beware they might sell much more expensive on their website than their ebay listing, better buy from Ebay. Learn that from last purchase, complained but no one bother to reply

  • Where we do we show you a screenshot of the page, and when will the draw take place??

    • On our Facebook page :)
Same as our previous activities, you can post your screenshot under the Facebook promotion.

      • when will the draw take place? :P

  • Rep, are you sending it from Australia or overseas ? How long does the shipping take to Sydney ? I'm heading overseas soon.

    • +1

All orders will be sent from our Sydney warehouse by AusPost eParcel with tracking and signature on delivery.
Normally, it takes 2-4 business days to deliver to major cities within Australia.
For local customer in Sydney, it should take 2-3 business days.

  • How long do these keep their charge?

I only need this type of thing a few times a year, and the one I have is always discharged when I need it.

    • These are good quality cells, I've gone months without using mine and it still has very close to full charge

  • Is there a power bank that supports charge for a 3DS?

Anyone know of a cable that would support this?

  • Hey rep will you be supplying the Yi Action Camera from Xioami soon?

  • 16000mHA

What's the difference between mHA and mAh? Or is this a typo?

    • +6

1 mHa is one millihectare, or ten metres by ten metres.
1 mAh is one milliamp hour, or the amount of charge a battery holds that will allow a current of 1 milliamp to run for one hour.

      I made up the former.

  • Already have one but these guys are a pleasure to deal with.

  • I wish I stayed with you guys.

Still waiting for auwebshop to deliver theirs.

Have the other charger from mushtato and love it

  • Hey rep, not sure how popular it'll be, but any chances for a deal on the Xiaomi 5200mAh Power Bank? Would love a smaller to keep handy.

    • We had a deal on 5000mAh ultraslim power bank no long ago. Please like us on facebook for deals update.
Will bring back the slim power bank deal.

      • Thank you! Will like :)

  • I bought several weeks ago. My Samsung Galaxy s4 gets around four charges with it before I charge the battery pack itself. It is quite useful for me because I move around at work. I just put it in a big pocket and I can still use it.

    Mushtato also has fast shipping.

    • Thank you for supporting us. :)

  • Thank you OP, just bought one :D

Fingers crossed I win one of the 5000mah units

    • +1

Just a quick update that I received my delivery early today.

      That's ridicolously quick!

  • Hi store rep,

I am having problems with certificates on website from mobile. Any issues on your end?

I am using Chrome and Android browser.

  • Hi Store Rep,

How does the special promo work - I added a 16000 and a 10400 into the cart and I do not see the discount for the 10400? I see a total amount of $72.90 - do I need to proceed further into the checkout for the price to be adjusted?

Hope you can clarify this for us. Cheers

    • Did you tick the promotion option to add the 10400 and then add the 16000 to the cart?

      • Please purchase promotion items(ie. 10400 power bank) through this deal as a combo, by ticking the promotion items box.

        • Thanks - my bad! I can see it now. My Firefox font size was large and did not scroll down!

Any pickup options as I am around Hornsby - save you postage and may be get additional discount ;-)

  • Good price.

Side note; for anyone who purchases this let me know if you have any issues charging the battery and charging devices from the battery. Mine is pretty slow, and I'm thinking I may have a dud. (not from OP, and the Scratch number was genuine.)

    • +1

Yes, I am having problems with charging speed as well with my Nexus 5. The phone reports that charging is via USB instead of AC when connected to the 16000mAh powerbanks instead of the original Nexus 5 charger using the same (Nexus 5) cable. Charging current was estimated at 0.5A based on the reported time left and state of charge.

Mushtato suggested that it may be caused by limitations on Nexus 5's charging module. According to their tests, the output current on an iPhone 6 reached 1.5A. What phone are you using?

On a separate issue, when using the USB cable that comes with the Xiaomi powerbank, does yours form firm connections? The four powerbanks that I bought have loose connections with the supplied USB cables. When pushed to the "left", they do not charge the phone. They need to be pushed to the "right" to charge.

I have ordered a USB current tester which hopefully will give a more definite number to the output current. Takes two weeks to arrive though …

      • +1

Managed to track down the problem to two causes (the second reason is totally due to my ignorance):

        1. One of the four USB cables that came with the Xiaomi powerbank is faulty. It just charges at an estimated 0.5A. The other three cables show charging on AC when connected to the powerbanks.

        2. USB cable needs to be pushed in all the way into the connected output port such that the exposed (silver) part of the connector is almost unseen. There is a fair bit of resistance but I suppose after some use, it will be easier to attach/detach the cables. This solves the "wobbling" problem. I suspect that this is also the reason for which the original Nexus 5 cable was thought to be charging on USB as well.

Anyway, it's all good now. My Nexus 5 reports that charging is on AC when connected firmly to the Xiaomi 16000mAh powerbanks.

Feel free to send me a PM if you are still having problems.

p.s. I am really impressed with Mushtato's customer service. Very prompt and helpful replies.

        • Thanks for the replies hocuspocus.
I'm using a Galaxy S3. I have a USB current tester, will have a look tonight.
Also very interesting responses re:USB cables. Will check connection and output tonight.
          Cheers Mate! :)

  • Just came back from China and got the exact same one for ¥80

    • Awesome mate. Did you have a good holiday? Good flight back? What else did you buy?

  • Hi Store Rep,

I tried to purchase one of your gold ones before but couldn't get passed the billing and address details so gave up.
Same thing is happening today. Keeps asking me for mailing address and I put it in and still won't workmbut I now have about 4 addresses registered. All the same.. Any thoughts.

    Thanks

    • Please kindly email us your full name and email address.
We will check your account status and let us know if there's any issue.

  • I was led to believe you need a permit to run a lottery in this fashion, even if it's on Facebook?

  • Hi Rep,

Just placed an order & also sent an message regarding the same. Order # 6668. Can you please get back to me regarding this please.

    Cheers

  • Never had any problems with Xiaomi stuff…such good price.

I think perhaps they're in cahoots with the Chinese government and the gadgets scan your other devices and brain while you sleep.

Do you know if you'll have the new action camera at any point? $85 and does 1080p video at 60fps! Want.

    • Official only announce on sale from 10th march :)

  • Hi Rep

All seems fine after I went into my account and edited it.

    Cheers

  • Snagged one, plus a few of the extra goodies as well. Thanks OP, been meaning to get on this deal for quite a while now! Glad I finally got around to it :)

    • If you bought the Apple USB to lightning adapter or the lightning cable, let us know if they are genuine Apple products when you receive them unless someone else has bought them and can verify. Cheers

      • I bought the USB-lightning adapter, for a friend though. Haven't received my gear yet though. I'm assuming it'll come early next week.

How would you tell whether it's genuine or not? In any case, I'd hope it's genuine, as it's clearly advertised as such in the OP from the rep!

Edit: Interestingly, I just checked the website, and the adapter is not listed as genuine there. I guess we shall see when I receive my gear…
