5,000 Free KrisFlyer Miles for New Accounts (or 3,704 Velocity Frequent Flyer Points)

2650

UPDATE: Promotion is still running. From AusBT article:

There's now "an additional check for the promotion to verify enrolment in Australia, in line with the terms and conditions of the promotion."

"We decided to add the extra check after we had a number of applications since the promotion launched that did not meet the terms & conditions of the promotion" the spokesperson added.

"Customers seeking to benefit from the promotion will now need to email [email protected] after signing up for a new KrisFlyer account and provide a local contact number in Australia for verification."

Main link updated.

Just quoting verbatim from an e-mail I received from Singapore Airlines. Unsure when the 5,000 miles (or 10,000 miles, if you book a flight) are deposited into your account.

Sign up to KrisFlyer between 4 – 31 March 2015, insert the promotional code “KFACQPU” in the communication preferences area of the form, and you will earn 5,000 Bonus KrisFlyer miles to count towards your next trip.

Double your rewards and earn an additional 5,000 bonus miles when you book and complete your first return journey within six months of your enrolment date.

This promotion is valid for enrolments in Australia from 4 March 2015 to 31 March 2015 inclusive and for the first trip booked travel must commence from Australia between 4 March 2015 and 30 September 2015 inclusive and valid for return trips only. Eligible Cabin Classes: First /Suites Classes; R,F,A; Business Classes; Z,C,J,U,D; Premium Economy Classes; S,T,P and Economy Classes: Y,B,E,M,H,W,N,V. This promotion is only valid for enrolments and bookings made via singaporeair.com.

Now, why did I put Velocity in the title? If KrisFlyer is not your thing, bear in mind that as part of the alliance between Singapore Airlines and Virgin Australia, you can convert those KrisFlyer miles to Velocity Frequent Flyer points at a rate of 1.35 miles to 1 point. More details here.

Edit: I received my miles 4-5 hours after registering my account.

25 March - To Confirm:

This promotion code (KFACQPU) is no longer valid online. To take advantage of the promotion, remove the code you have entered and click "Continue" to submit your completed enrolment form. Please email [email protected] with your KrisFlyer account number and a local contact number in Australia for verification. Conditions apply.

So is it not working anymore - transferring the 5000 Krisflyer points if they were awarded? I am getting this error when I try and link to the Velocity loyalty program, prior to transferring the points over.

"The partner promotion code is invalid"

    • Am also wondering the same thing. This is what is stopping me from signing up right now.

Has anybody here been able to link Velocity on Krisflyer recently?

    • +1

Mine wouldn't link yesterday, so like ck suggested, I linked from the Velocity side, now today I just transferred all the points from krisflyer to velocity.

My $70 Target gift cards arrived today.

You could of got 1c/point if you'd sold them.

      • +1

Oh well, didn't know that. Free is free at the end of the day though.

      • Hey Tasmaniac, what do you mean by sold them?

        • to sell, trade, barter, exchange for cash http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/sold

In all seriousness though apparently some people are selling their points to family and friends using Velocity's family transfer system, unfortunately there's a limit of four transfers per year and is only supposed to be for relatives.

      • I really don't think it's a smart idea trying to sell points when velocity/kf are already closely examining the accounts for legitimacy. You'll completely screw over the fellow ozbargainer

  • Finally got the third lot of points today.

  • Well I got my email from KrisFlyer after giving them my information, telling me:

    Thank you for joining KrisFlyer.
You will be receiving your welcome gift of 5,000 KrisFlyer miles within the next 5 business days.

Got 10000 points now but the connection to Velocity can't be made :S Anyone have any idea what to do at this point?

    • Fly with SIA?

    • +1

Nevermind, I emailed back and they sorted it over the weekend. Got the 5000 points and transferred them to Velocity. Thanks OP!

  • did they reply to u?? i keep getting the automated " we will reply in 5 business days.." but haven't heard for more than 2 weeks now!

    • Call them, that's what I did. It took a week after I called to receive the miles in my account.

      • Thanks. They replied today asking for photo ID. Sent it thru this pm.. The wait continues..

    • cant recall how long it took for my dads points to be credited, but it was more than 5 business days and they didnt call to verify, they just emailed back.

  • I have linked my wife's accounts (KrisFlyer & Velocity), but when i click on the 'convert miles' tab under the 'my miles' tab, the page doesnt work…? When i first went to the home page of Singapore Airlines i noticed that they are trialing a beta, tried logging into the beta site but still no luck. Anyone else stumped with this?

    • yay, converted the miles, just waiting for mum to get hers and then have racked up enough to pay for half a flight across North America, all for free!

  • any idea if this is still going post 31/3 ??

    • No idea, try and see what happens.

  • Anyone received the error message of "The partner promotion code is invalid." when you tried to add the velocity account number to Krisflyer's profile?

    • I called Krisflyer. He said your velocity membership number is invalid while I am 100% sure correct.

      • +2

Surprisingly, this is the way to link up the account.
        1. Log to Velocity, Add KrisFlyer membership number.
        2. Log to KrisFlyer, Velocity number is Already Linked
        3. Start your conversion.

        • It works! However, I still can not do the conversion. A message pop up saying "We are unable to process your request. Please contact your local Singapore Airlines for assistance."
          Any idea?

        • @wanwan888:

Velocity web site is down at this moment. I also experienced the same error message when I tried to convert points for my wife a few minutes ago. Try it again later.

        • @wanwan888:
          It is working now.

        • @uniwon:
No. I jsut can't do the transfer. Maybe it is because of a typo in my email address. Dam iPad spelling correction. And I can't edit my info in KrisFlyer either. Dead end.
