You are not adding enough water to cook the rice.
It takes twice as much water as white rice.Agree, you need heaps of water and you need to cook it for much longer. It's never going to be as soft as normal white rice. Even basmati rice needs longer to cook than your standard white rice.

In my opinion, it's never going to taste as good as white rice, but if cooked properly, it's not that bad. What I suggest is:
1. Use more water than what you usually use with white rice.
2. Soak the rice for a few hours before cooking it. I usually put it in the rice cooker and have the timer set to start in 4 hours.
3. Don't use the 'quick cook' setting on your rice cooker with brown rice.
4. Mix it with some white rice. I mix mine @ a ratio of 7:3, with 7 being brown rice.
Never used brown rice so is it different to white rice in taste?
It's an acquired taste but it's not that bad. From a health perspective it's better for you.

its really horrible, even after cooking it twice its not soft enough. im seriously considering throwing it all out. the only reason it's bearable now is because i mix it with whote rice. even the kids hate. im asian.. after i finish this will never buy it again.
