        Why the downvotes? Lenovo has been revealed to have some of the worst malware installed on their PCs by default, Yoga's included.

          Meh, its like the same mentality as "oh that Malaysian airline has a crash, I will never fly with them", then a few weeks later when a bargain hits ozbargain… you will still book it anyways. HAHA

          Its awesome though if you have anybody who has access to their EPP its even better. Their Employee program discounts stacks on top of the ongoing discounts

      Why do you bother commenting on things you have no idea about or no interest in? Is it to increase your post count? One click on the link provided would have shown you the savings but you're not interested and just want to post for the hell of it. Maybe ozbargain could create a bot to post your standard sayings to save you the many hours each day it takes.

          That's your opinion but you get what you pay for and if you're happy with a second rate product by all means go ahead. The Yoga 3 is priced well and the reviews support this.

      Sadly that is pretty much with anything you buy.
      If you buy a new car it drops the instant you drive it from the dealership.

      Buy any product, I highly doubt you will be able to sell it anywhere near the price you bought it for, unless there is a supply and demand issue.

    I bought one of these recently. Pretty much the same as above model. I came from a thinkpad x201 that served me for 6 years with a battery that still lasts around 2 hours (this is good considering processors back in the day). Reason why I upgraded was the ball bearing in the internal fan was failing which means sometimes it would not boot due to fan failure detection. Otherwise I gave it to my cousin to use and it is still going.

    • It is a thinkpad in terms of build quality
    • Less bloatware compared to previous lenovo (most bloatware lenovo provides are somewhat useful though i.e. android control for presentations and other maintenance software)
    • Some sort of magnesium alloy because sometimes I do get small screws off my table when I lift it (screws not from machine)
    • IPS screen I think
    • Wrist rejection
    • keyboard is one of the best you can get for a laptop
    • stickers come off easily and the residue comes off with a little wiping, now has a clean look
    • touch and digitiser is nice for when I'm lazy or for when I need to write equations or when I'm learning kanji
    • Magnesium alloy doesn't conduct heat as fast as macbook (aluminium) does
    • tablet mode nice for scribbling onto pdfs
    • lit up keeyboard if u want at night with no lights (better than that small light)
    • can still swap fn and ctrl keys in bios

    = Resolution is 1080p standard not great not the worst
    = wacom is not 1:1 mapping but none of the wacom is really
    = windows 8.1 is getting better as I'm learning how to use it but now I hear there is already a windows 10….
    = uses a new power supply port that looks like usb (block) but you can plug it in any way you want (sometimes I accidentally go for the usb hole next to it)
    = only mini hdmi (can be a problem if you want to plug it into older projectors etc)
    = no slot for Ethernet

    • Touchpad still takes time to get used to but I'm sort of getting a hang of it now. It takes up way too much space though (I came from the x201 though so it was quite smaller).
    • Heavy for a "dual tablet
    • Screen already has a small flex blotch (discolouration) at the extreme corner edge when I held the tablet like a cantilever this explains the massive bezels. It recovered and isn't that noticeable but since when I use it in portrait and my hand is there I do see it when I apply pressure again (this has to do with the thing is so heavy you have to use force but not too much force)
    • MASSIVE bezels
    • had to get the i7 model to get 8GB of ram
    • wireless AC isn't the latest (my asus ac87u router supposedly does up to 1Gbps for wireless haven't seen it yet)
    • missing my favourite lenovo bloatware such as the wifi one and custom battery profiles (you can set it up anyway but I prefer it inbuilt)
    • INTEGRATED BATTERY
    • Don't see a spill resistant cover or exits for the keyboard
    • digitiser feels a bit thin and light
    • ram is soldered on
    • can only upgrade another m2 ssd and the existing mini sata hard drive that's it.
    • speakers are crap think speakers that you would connect to your breadboard to make a pc sound
    • webcam (lenovo never had a good webcam)
    • finger marks on the screen due to touching and rubbing off oils from the keyboard

    Now you might think that this is a long list of negatives which it is. But if you were a previous thinkpad owner, then you will know why and notice these things depending on which model you came from. Surprisingly it still fit into my 12" thinkpad cover so I kept that old cover.

    All that said I'm pretty happy with my lenovo thinkpad yoga laptop. I only wish that I bought the travel adapter at the reduced price when bundling so I can use them on the airplane. I would recommend considering the yoga over the previous ultra portable x series i.e. x240 as it gives the added flexibility of a tablet and you can write on it. There are useful apps out there that give "paper" grid lines and so it is useful for geometric shapes for when you don't have MATLAB.

    By the way if you are concerned about 'Superfish' I can confirm that the thinkpad yoga does not have this. The ideapad ones may I don't know.

      I think if you calibrate it, some of the problems with wacom pen gets alleviated. That being said, the distortion from slant angle of the pen and the distortion from being far off the centre I've heard is something that is caused by wacom using magnetic field and it cannot be fixed (though calibration does alleviate it a little).

        I have heard about doing that but it hasn't been that much of an issue for me as when you get close enough you can see where it will land. So even if it isn't 1:1 mapping you can see where it is going to draw anyway. I haven't really used this for art projects so it doesn't matter that much to me.

      Lenovo are nothing like Apple and you are comparing a product on special (on the US site) with a product that is not on special (on the AU site). Why? To mislead?

        Fine, you've made your point its a lovely product with very competitive pricing, obviously you've done your research. I applaud you, time well spent. You're entitled to your opinion. Maybe you should mention even with the specials in Australia the pricing doesn't compare to the USA and USA has sales also at the moment (Sales happen to be much better and more frequent then Australia) with better discounts on prices that were already blasting Australia out of the water before the sales.

          For a start the Yoga 3 is new to Australia and has not been discounted yet but it will be just like the Yoga 3 when introduced to the USA was not discounted. And I've shown that the prices are directly comparable unlike other products (but for some reason you only have a beef with Lenovo).

          So how exactly are they not ripping us off?

          How about you describe in detail how they are ripping us off? I've proven that they are not but you are making the misleading claim based on fairy dust that they are so how about you substantiate your claim?

      Not the same. You are comparing a tablet that performs like a laptop (Surface 3) vs a laptop with the extra benefit of going tablet mode.

      Surface 3 is probably useful for contractors working onsite and need a tablet to take photos, notes, send things onsite back to base or head office. I'm not sure how productive that keyboard cover would be after an hour or so. Personally I don't own a surface so I don't know what it is capable of or what it isn't.

      Thinkpad yoga is a laptop. The "tablet" mode is most useful when it is stationary on a level table. It is far too heavy and doesn't even have a camera on the other side to take photos onsite. Basically it is a mobile desktop (i.e. laptop).

      You shouldn't buy the thinkpad yoga if you want a tablet.
