      Hey,

If you have feedback, pricing etc happy to take onboard and work too see what I can do. It is pretty tight to get it below 1K. We are also going to have some killer deals on some excess parts (new) that will certainly be heavily discounted tomorrow!

    • He's not wrong.
I was able to put together something almost identical for $943.34 at time of writing using the 7800X3D link from this deal which is now $454.57
But that price doesn't include shipping, assembly, warranty or the slightly sketchy act of ordering a $400+ CPU from china so it's not the worst deal I've ever seen.

      • +7

So it makes OP's deal quite attractive since assembly (especially for those who can't) and local warranty is included for not much more.

Paired with the RX 9700 for $836 deal it's a very capable computer, though you'd want 750W PSU.

        • +1

Thats if they honour that deal, still waiting for mine to be confirmed and shipped.

      • +3

I mean i purchased that 7800X3D from Ali Express for $440 and have zero issues with it. It's going pretty well, but this deal isn't even bad at all it's really good for it's price point, literally just takes two minutes to slap in a GPU and you have a working computer.

    • +2

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day aye 😉. For once I agree lol.
Even forgetting the price, absolutely no one should be looking to pair a 7800x3d with 16gb of cl40 and a GPU that is comfortable under 650W total. The build just makes no sense.

    • +2

I actually agree with this, its not a balanced "base" build at all. B650 is passable (not necessarily this model, but in general B650 is still completely fine for a 7800X3D system).

2x8GB CL40, 650w PSU is terrible for this tier CPU.

Come on Marshmallow, everyone has to make a living.

Manufacturer, Distributor and Retailer, they all gotta eat 😂

      • +6

I'm sympathetic. But a deal website is about deals. Affiliates posting here should understand that. This is no deal. Just pure marketing and taking advantage of OzBargain's name and userbase. They should post real deals to clear stock for example.

        • Cant argue there!

  • +8

The Mallow really pulling no punches this time. Unfiltered and unadultered.

        Rightfully so!

Radium spends so much time adverting on youtube. Gotta make up for the margin somewhere!

Gotta call out subpar deals when you see one.

Gaming PC with no GPU in 2025, Im lost somehow

    • +1

      Gaming PC without the gaming.

      • +2

        baited.

No seriously the combo is meant for an add on GPU, too many potential choices to choose the "right" one. Plus not too many places offer no gpu (the options are there)!

        • The whole idea of a pre-built is to get the GPU at a cheaper price.

650 watts for the power supply seems low for the build considering most would probably pair it with a higher end card (>=70 series)

  • +4

That psu wattage for bring your psu is seriously too low. I would expect a 850w minimum for these specs.

    • +3

I've added the the Coolermaster 850w Gold for an extra $35 (add on), also lowered the CSK 1000w to $50 if you need the extra juice.

    • Opps, i meant bring your GPU (not psu).

  • +2

Kind of hard to wrap my head around this as if I'm bringing my own GPU it would likely be a high-ish end one, yet the 650w psu isn't suited for that. Nvidia recommends 850w psu for a 5080, for example. In fact the beefiest nvidia cards which are recommended to run on a 650w psu would be a 3/4/5070 (source: https://www.msi.com/blog/recommended-psu-table)

    • Understood. In regards to the PSU, from a few comments, I wanted to have something "base" model with a few cheaper upgrade options if you did need the extra wattage for a better GPU. A lot of the upgrade options for example work fine with just the 650w.

I can adjust it too offer a few more "cheap" upgrades for the PSU to accommodate!

      • I feel like most would be better off saving 200ish with a 7600 and then putting that into a better gpu and psu. 7800x3d is much better but just a suggestion

        • +1

Agree with this take. Put in a 9600 or 7600/x CPU, 32GB of RAM, and maybe bump SSD, drop the price a hundo or so to match whatever the 7800x3d costs.

I'd also bump the PSU to at least a 750w Gold of some sort. 750w easily covers 90% of the GPU market. Anyone looking to put a 5090 in a machine isn't looking for a budget base build to put it in. Technically, ~500-600w is enough too, but better efficiency/longevity comes from a slight overspec anyway!

    • you'll probably be OK with running a 5080 on a decent 650W tbh, especially with a power efficient cpu like the 7800x3d. Saying this as i ran a 4090 + 9800x3d on a corsair sf750 and never experienced any issues.

So I quickly put together a PCPP list with parametric selection for CL30 6000Mhz 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD with DRAM, Wifi 6+ motherboard, modular 850W+ Gold or better PSU, and a Thermalright air cooler… Not sure that saving ~$200 would be worth it for this one. Needs a bit more thought put into component selection I think.

    • Question. Because this happens to me when I do the PCPP, does the Prices actually include shipping and taxes? Because when I've gone in to buy those, unless you've opted for click and collect, shipping is not factored in (JW + PCCG for example)

      unless I'm doing it wrong.
If not ill definitely start adding it in

    • Source the 7800X3D out of China and it's the same price as this deal.

Vendor has us paying for $700-$725 for parts and $175+ for labour and delivery.

      • +4

Not gonna NGL that is wildly cheap. could you price it out I'd love to compare it.

        • +7

Props to you for working with a tough crowd. This sort of transparency and communication helps build trust and is a good look overall. It's sometimes as simple as explaining the choices that were made that quells a loudly curious customer.

          • +4

@shiny1: I've always liked the idea of giving customers as much info (within reason) as possible coming from our side of the PC world, so they don't fall into any unnecessary pitfalls or purchases. So if anyone has questions related to our side, happy to give you guys insight!

        • $400 7800X3D via AliE (i.e. OEM tray purchase), cashback varies from $30-$50.

In terms of getting a cheaper build, you can shave $30 on the B650 board compared to above, drop to a budget mid-tier PCIe 4.0 NVMe drive like you have and shave another $80, probably another $25 on the 32GB kit, drop $60 for an equivalent PSU to what you've supplied.

Drop $30 to account for the cheaper cooling arrangement you've supplied, and that's already $750ish before pushing things with discount stacking from Amazon sourcing, etc.

Can respect you need to make decent margins, but you can also get a bit grittier with how you source parts despite the shitshow that some suppliers are in this country with all their bundling.

  • +7

I am surprised that no one commented on the 16GB DDR5 RAM in a $1000 BYO GPU system in 2025

    • +1

CL40 no less. Klevv CL30 6000mhz 32gb is like 145 bucks regularly.. the team group they list is like 90. I know they're trying to hit a price point but eh

      • Good point on the Klevv. At the moment we don't stock those, historically had a few bad batches (RMA rate percentage was too high per 100 units), so we opted out. In saying that Klevv now does have some more appealing price points so it might be worth looking back into!

        • Yeah Fair enough - I almost bought some klevv myself but only went for a team group batch for aesthetics haha.

I think realistically if there was a place I'd change any of this build first, it'd be 32gb of ram. Browsers/devs etc just don't care about RAM optimisation anymore so 32GB would be amazing but it'd be tricky to keep under 1k with Aus prices.

You could certainly opt for a batch purchase from AE for CPUs but stock isn't always promised.. Also if there's any warranty issues it's more painful to deal with non-local supplies (I worked at Mwave years ago, and anything not from a local/domestic supplier was a massive pain to deal with for RMAs). Unless you're cashed up and have many to spare/swap over with customer immediately and are willing to take the time to sort out RMA's internally/have that up front risk, it's a rough option.

As someone who bought an AE 7800X3D, it's working great, but my brother, for example, didn't want to buy a 7700 deal for ~200 bucks, and went for a local 7600x for closer to 300 instead, just for peace of mind.

          • +1

@ReaperX22: Thanks for the feedback, solid on the 32GB DDR5 I'll see what I can do in that regard.

As for RMA, tell me about it. I've bought AE in the past, (or similar outside Australia). Cheap yes, but once you have a few failures good luck with any post support. Less hassle to just accept the loss.

            • @Radium PCs: Yeah I think ultimately it's..

If we buy 100 CPUs from AE. 5 fail, have we saved enough on the other 95 (and subsequent purchase of those extra 5 you need to replace for customers) to justify the faff?

Possibly? But KISS is an acronym for a reason! (not the band :P).

  • Gaming PC (No GPU)

WTF. Really? If you gonna build a gaming PC, don't you think it'd be much better to go all the way? lol

  • Op is there a way that you allow to select no PSU and no Nvme by chance?

  • Surprised you can even still get your hands on 8gb sticks of DDR5… 32gb and this might have been acceptable… But most people are going to be better off buying a pre-built that includes a 9070 XT or equivalent…
