I still think the aliexpress $200 Ryzen 7700 Deals when they pop up are better value when the 7800X3D is only providing a 15% jump in FPS

    • -6

7700 is good enough, that's true. And it's not even for A$200 either. It goes around ~A$150 with the cashback and credits.

    • +9

Depends on resolution and title but for most games at 4k, there's basically no difference.

      • +8

Even at 14440p, saving $200 on a 7700 instead of 7800x3d can probably net you a better GPU

        • Yep got a 7600 and at 4k I need to be putting any spare coin into a GPU!

        • At 1440p, 7600X, 7700, 7800X3D are all the near identical performance.

Not worth spending a penny on this unless upgrading from 3600X.

          • +1

@RTX9090Ti: As always, it depends on specific usecases. But generally speaking you are correct.

          • @RTX9090Ti: Not worth it if upgrade from Ryzen 5 5600?

            • -2

@froddoog: if you ask a barber to get a haircut, you'll know the answer. youtube is your friend.

    • +1

damn, wanting to get another low $200 7700

but i think i might have get one of these while i wait

    • +8

25% for dota, i'm absolutely smashing heralds with the fps advantage and 240hz monitor, meanwhile those poor souls still playing with 100fps smh

    • +5

That's fair, but for the 1% lows I think that at $400ish Australian it's worth it.

    • I don't think the 7700x3d ever released did it? Comparing 7700x to 7800 (non x3d) not much difference but 7700x vs 7800x3d would be a bigger difference.

Scroll this down to baldurs gate 3 1440p benchmark
      https://gamersnexus.net/cpus/intel-desperate-i7-14700k-cpu-r…

      7700x gets 78fps average, 7800x3d gets 121fps

Scroll down below BG3 to cyberpunk then once more for cyberpunk 1440p

      7700x gets 168fps, 7800x3d gets 188fps

    • +2

Definitely depends on what you’re trying to do. 1440p QD OLEDs are getting real fast and cheap, and the extra 1% and 0.1% makes it feel that much smoother.

    • +1

Appreciate the heads up, did a bit of research before hoping on this deal but I mainly play WoW and apparently it benefits the most from the X3D so look like my hands are tied!

      • +2

FFXIV benefits a lot, too. Crowded cities, large raids and world bosses are so much smoother.

        • +3

Flight sims see a huge leap too.

    • Up 1 for this. Pair with a cheap mobo and I have my little poor sever upgraded.

    • yeah built a pc for a friend with one of those and it's a rocket.

    • +1

Glad that you mentioned A$ instead of US$.

      • -6

I never used US$ in any of my comments lol. That's just other commenters thinking my pricing was in US$ rather than $A.

        • +6

That's just other commenters thinking my pricing was in US$ rather than $A

Yeah, because that was how wild your claims were lmao

  • Great price!

  • +1

Does anybody know of any Mini PCs that are suitable for gaming? I get that the mini pc boxes aren't sufficient as they can't house a GPU, but is there an in-between size between a mini PC and a full on gaming rig? I just wanna play the new battlefield.

    • +6

Mini PC + eGPU, or an ITX PC build but that typically comes at a premium.

Best middle ground would be a smaller-sized mATX PC.

    • yes, but you pay a price premium for smaller form factor, and it limits you in gpu choice

      • Totally depends on the case you choose. Many cases under 20l are designed to take gpus up to 3 slot 380mm they get away with this by using a pcie extension/riser

    • There are mini-size versions of a lot of popular GPU's, even single fan versions, but not the top end.

Depends entirely on the games my man. Flight sims? No. Battlebit? Sure.

BF6 is actually well optimised, but it's still a next gen AAA title.

    • +1

ITX would probably be best bet for size to performance. Try seeing if you can snag one of the Techfast ITX builds that pop up every few months.

Mini PC's and external gpus have big premiums with them, and usually will not perform as well as their dedicated counterparts.

Alternatively, you can get some pretty small mATX PC cases now, that don't take up more space than a large shoebox in some cases. These will generally be your best bang for buck when it comes to size. Just depends on your budget.

  • Bought on the last $412 deal, can't buy another one and refund the previous order because this price might be for 1 time per account only :(

    • I was only looking at these today from AU suppliers. Did you buy yours from the supplier listed in the deal and can you confirm if the CPU is legit?

      • +1

        I haven't received it yet

        • +1

My bad - my assumption was you'd received it.

Hope it goies well on arrival.

      • I bought this from comet crash seller on Ali.
Have been daily driving for a month or two now with no issues. Performance as expected. Would recommend

  • +4

Good price for this beast of a CPU, I got mine from the last deal (same seller) and received it 10 days after placing the order, it arrived in the usual clear plastic tray case with the security tape on it, tightly bubble wrapped.

Overall impressions after upgrading from 5700X3D to 7800X3D: I play a lot of singleplayer games with numerous AI bots such as Ground Branch, and definitely see a significant uptick in performance at 4K with DLSS. It's very noticeable.

If you're mostly playing multiplayer games you might not see much difference, but it all depends on the game.

    • +2

Agree - I think this is the GOAT for value if you are into single player or something like Flight Simulator like I am (very CPU heavy but this CPU still keeps it buttery smooth). Remarkably good performance for a chip that’s a couple of years old now. Superb price.

  • +1

    Anybody purchased from them before?
Just wondering what to do if there's any issue with the cpu

    • +1

No ACL protection or AMD warranty coverage, so you're completely at the mercy of the seller being willing to replace defective CPUs - which I'd imagine is unlikely.

      • +1

6 months of Paypal protection too. If your CPU dirs after 6 months that would be very unlucky unless you really messed around with it / pushed some limits

  • +3

purchased this from the same seller and took me 9 days to recieve. Happy with no complaints. Similar to deadpoet above me

    • +1

Thanks for the info - I asked the same above. Glad your purchase all worked out!

  • Will I see much of a gaming performance difference going from a 7900x to this?

    • +6

in a few select games yes, but the fps will already be so high that it won't matter…. mostly though, no. save your money.

    • +1

      I wouldn't bother unless your rocking 4090 or 5090

  • +2

Looking forward for the next AM4 5700x CPU deal :)

    • +1

Looking forward to receiving the one I ordered on the last deal for about $106

      • Missed that one and now its showing price around $150

  • +2

this CPU is like the 1080 GPU's

  • So the cashback from shopback which is at 16% won't work for this purchase? just wondering since only the topcashback is listed as a stacking option.

    • +2

      It will work

      • Thank you sir. :)

      • yes, do I did then.

    • +2

bugger, why was shopback not mentioned earlier, that's like at least $60 cashback as opposed to $30

      • :(

      • +2

        $50 cap with SB

        • I didn't see that mention, thanks for confirming for others

    • Been a while since I've used SB, how long does it usually take before it tracks?

      • Mine tracked in about 10-15 mins, it says $56 but i assume that will drop to $50 when it's approved. Just don't have ad-blockers and all that sort of stuff… i've not had any issues with any of the cashback providers in the last few years so i can't speak to other peoples experiences.

        • Hmm ok, I did mine via the SB app yesterday afternoon, still hasn't tracked yet…

        • SB seems to be an issue for me - I had to submit the order for manual tracking after I placed it, and it just rejected, despite tracking from SB into the aliexpress app, what a joke.

          • @topjeggles: That's terrible mate, really sorry you had to go through that, I would be very angry too. I fortunately have had no issues with any of the cash back joints tracking wise for a very long time. But i'm very methodical when i do buy something through them… and only click through when i'm making a transaction, i browse and scope it out outside of the click through.

i'm not a huge user of these services though so maybe if i used them a lot more i would find similar issues you have found.

            • @scud70: Yeah, I get you, I don't use cashback apps often because of these issues. I clicked back and forth between the SB app & Aliexpress a couple of times to ensure the tracking popup came up, so I went ahead and did the purchase. Currently disputing the rejection, shame I don't have a screenshot of the 16% off SB was offering at the time…

              • @topjeggles: Good luck! i hope you get your cash back because it is a decent amount! makes a massive different in what was already a decent deal

  • +2

If the code stops working use AMD7800X3DAU

    • Hi OP, how do you track the CPU deals?
Wondering when will 5700x will go on sale next. Normally it's every 2 weeks ( based on deals U posted).
I almost purchased be before the price went up close to $150

  • sub-400 when

    • +2

When you use cash back 🙂

  • Seems to have reverted? Had it in my cart for a day and when I went to pull the trigger, it's ~$50 more :(

  • Anyone know ballpark timing for next 7700 deal? Cheers

    • Nevermind. I posted one but didn't realise it had 1 instock

      • Thank you Clear, gone already unfortunately. Saw that store earlier but got thrown off by the low review score

        • Just someone from Ukraine complaining about delays. I've asked the store if there's more available.

  • Worth dropping one of these in to replace my 7500f from a 5070 techfast deal?
Only playing competitive fps at the moment on 1080p so might be an overkill lol

  • Anyone got a code?

  • Ordered one on the 2nd, which promptly dispatched.

Tracking showed that it had departed mainland China via Cainio late night on the 6th, whilst around the same time a new tracking number was generated by ARAMEX, stating:

The sender is now completing the final steps to prepare your parcel for pick-up. We’ll send another update when the parcel is in the hands of an Aramex courier.

Complete radio silence on both tracking since (not even arrival into Australia).

Guess someone at Aramex got a new CPU.

    • Did you ever get it or refund?

  • Will they release this price again soon? Current pricing is $456 or so when tax gets added to it on final checkout! A shame as I thought it was back down below the $410 price otherwise would've bought it!
