  • Was about to post it :D beaten >.<

Before anyone asks, yes these can be used at all Woolworths group stores.

    • +1

Seriously? Was about to ask :O

    • Had to ask, Dick Smith Included?

      • +4

For dicksmith you better buy at coles a dicksmith gift card - offer of 10%+ ( see catalogue)

        • Cheers, Saw that offer. Can you buy $1,000 worth in one card… or 10 x $1000.

        • that's alot of eneloops for $10,000….
apart from that, I dont see any good deals from Dick

        • @lovepub: Oops, my bad. I meant 10 x $100.. or even 20 x $100 - Looking to get the Macbook Pro.

    • +13

      AND
      - the e-vouchers are valid for 12 months from when purchased
      - people have and do go in-store and swap them out for real wish gift cards (sensible to do considering possible e-security issues with emails being hacked etc!)
      - they CAN be spent at Woolworth groups stores as noted on Wish Gift cards
      - they CAN'T be used at Dick Smith Online (Purchase a Wish gift card in-store from the evoucher for this!)
      - You have until midnight 31 March to take advantage of the 7.5% offer
      - If anybody EVER mentions 1 June, it is only in reference to when the Entertainment card expires, nothing to do with this promotion!

      • Can someone clarify the steps on how to convert the e-card into physical gift cards through the self service checkout?? I tried once and the screen said assistance needed so i cancelled in case they didn't let me pay by e-card.

        • Just take them through a normal counter and pay for them with the evoucher, have never been questioned.

        • Have had a Woolies supervisor insist that I was not allowed to buy a giftcard with another giftcard (which is not true - their systems do allow this). If you get this, can either try another store (I walked to Big W in the same centre and had no issues. Have also had no issues at other Woolies either). Or you can say it's a security concern/risk etc. which is why would prefer a physical giftcard.

Even without the 7.5% offer, I would probably still buy eGiftcards instead of physical ones and get them converted in store. Saves a lot of hassle with collecting the physical giftcards from the post office due to registered post etc. etc.

  • Ha I just posted it, was beaten by about 1 minute!

  • +5

Perfect timing, have spent $3500 of $4000 purchased in December….thats a $300 saving every 3 months for us at this rate

    • same here….
I seem to spend endlessly with these gift cards.

      • +2
        • We limit spend to necessities and half price specials/OZB Coupons as much as possible
        • also buy other store gift cards like Kathmandu or JB in-store….even better when they are also 10-20% off.
        • We also buy local, but a significant spend at Woolworths (80%) and Coles (now down to 20%), 200k+ over 10 yrs MS Money says

This 5 or 7.5% saving makes a difference

    • but are they wish cards? or just Big W cards? confused never bought any big w card before?

      • They're Big W Wish Cards.

      • +3

        they are all the same.
BIG W WISH card = WOLLIES WISH CARD
usable at caltex, wollies, DanMurphy, BWS, Masters, BIG W. (that's about all the shops you would use that)

  • Any free trials on offer? Anyone pay for these using Platinum Edge? Heard it gives triple points.

    • Does purchasing gift cards give the triple points? I know it's "grocery purchases at major supermarkets" but not sure whether buying gift cards like this will count. If it does, that's absolutely awesome.

      • Hi nub.

    • +1

I have used this offer before and I did get triple points on Amex Platinum Edge. Happy to buy some for you if you want and pass on the full discount to you. PM me for more details if you are in sydney.

  • 5 mins in and already getting smashed.

    After the login, you get;

    "This page is Temporarily Unavailable"

    • Worked fine for me just then.

      • Yeap, seem to be working now

  • +1

At least they wont call it a technical error and refund you the money.

    7.5% off is pretty good

  • Cards will take a couple of business days to arrive.

    • Sorry. I'm thinking of the Groupon deal. This should be within 3 hours.

  • Have hunted through the site - how do you get an example of what the book actually has in it? I remember looking a few years ago, and they had a mini-pdf type book thing you could check out, but can't seem to find it now?….

  • +1

Sorry for my ignorance, how much and how to get the Entertainment Book membership?

  • +3

These are absolutely BRILLIANT for topping up Opal cards:

    • 3 points per dollar on Amex Plat Edge
    • 7.5% discount
    • Combine with short bus trips during the day

    = EPIC SAVINGS.

  • +2

Buying a couple of vouchers pays the cost of the Entertainment book. Great value this book.

  • Is it valid in woolworth caltex patrol station?

    • Yep

    • +1

Not all, there has been a list posted in previous deals or go to the wish gift cards site and look for it.

    • +1

https://everydaygiftcards.com.au/media/static/Docs/Caltex_Wo… may be a bit old but lists stores that take egift card.

    • Just convert them to physical gift cards, which are accepted, as described above.

  • Does the digital membership that costs only $20 per year allow you to take advantage of this promotion? They talk about entering a "gold card number" to get to the Big W gift card offer, and I'm not sure the digital membership comes with that.

    ??

To me, it's a nuisance to have to buy a physical book because it's so hard to find people selling them.

    • Where are you located? So many work places have these books for sale and you can order them online from charities.

      • +1

I'm in the Sydney CBD. I work for a small company that is not into employee services like that. And ordering online and waiting for the post is so 1970's. The Entertainment Book page OUGHT to have a location map … you put in your postcode, and out pops a Google map showing all the places you can rock up to, to just get one out of a shop front or reception counter.

        • I have the digital membership only as well, and it works for me. You just have to purchase through the Entertainment Book website AFTER you have logged in.

When you purchased your digital membership, you would have set up a login ID and password (the same one you enter when you sign into the app).

Once you've signed in on the actual website, you can then click on the Gift Cards tab and find this deal.

        • +1

Where'd you see the $20 membership?

Cancer Council stores used to have the physical books. Not sure if they still will seeing as this year is nearly finished and new books not out yet.

        • @danyool: I actually did see it earlier today… but now I can't find it again. :-(

    • +1

I'm sure any number of OzBargainers would be happy to come to some kind of arrangement in regards to helping you buy some vouchers, especially if they have an Amex Platinum Edge where they can earn 3 points per dollar. Just sayin'.

      • Can't disagree with that… 3 points per $ is awesome.

        • Most I get is 2 points/$, but I'd do at at those rates :)

  • Can someone clarify the process for me. Are they "eVouchers" emailed to me immediately after purchase that I can then give to people to use in store (or exchange for Wish Gift cards).

    • -1

Not immediately. In my experience, up to a day later.

    • +1

I've done this a few times, got all of them within 3 hours.

    • The electronic voucher is emailed to you with a code that you either input online or at the atm machine.

  • They're pretty quick (typically half a day), though if you pay with an overseas based credit card that can delay it for a day or so.

  • will this work with this?

    Woolworths Gift Cards
    Save 5.00%
    http://www.cashrewards.com.au/woolworths-gift-cards

    EDIT: Bugger! Credit card only!

  • eGift card has already been received. Only took 2 hours.

    • Same. Order placed at 10:28, invoiced at 11:45, delivered at 12:32. It's usually same day if ordered within business hours.

  • ________________________REGARDING REWARD POINTS _______________________________
if I use $500 e-gift card to buy $500 Gift cards.
SCANS my everyday rewards, Do I accumulate ANY rewards points/Qantas points??

    • +2

No, Qantas points do not accumulate on Gift Cards and Tobacco AFAIK

      • how about REWARDS points?

      • They do accumulate on non Woolworths gift cards. Eg buying a Myer or iTunes gift card at Woolies.

    • No Qantas points in my experience as well.

However, I recall getting a discount fuel voucher when I didn't scan my card more than a year ago (physical giftcard wouldn't swipe properly so asked Woolies to give me a new one - hence I bought a giftcard with a giftcard).

  • is there any limit how many card you can buy?

    • What's your credit limit?

  • Did I read in a deal one day that you could buy David jones vouchers at big w? Would this apply in this case?

  • if i purchased an E - Entertainment book today, how much would it cost and how long would it be valid for?

    • It would be valid until the end of June.

  • +2

thanks OP. Picked up 2 x $500 cards for $925 which more than paid for my ent card.

    • Hope you can use more vouchers/coupons to really make it worth while!

  • Does anyone know if these are stackable? i.e. using 2 gift cards in one transaction. want to get an iphone 6 using the gift cards to give me maximum saving

    • Typically, yes. Where are you purchasing from?

    • Yes, I did exactly that a couple of months ago - 2 x $500 gift cards for an iPhone 6 (got in before the price hike, phew!)

      • aw nvm no big w store has any stock anymore. =(

  • is there any free Entertainment Book Membership promos out there like the last digital one?

  • Is anyone else getting the "service temporarily unavailable" message?

    • yeh i am getting same problem. I got onto the part where I can click purchase online but nothing else after.

      • The website doesnt even load for me!

        • Loading ok here.

        • yup working again

        • All good now. Tried it this morning.

  • So you cant buy giftcards in store correct? Can you use egift cards on self checkout?

    • You can buy gift cards in store, at full price.

egift cards come (via e-mail) with codes to use online and in store.

  • read this on the big w site "A gift card is not returnable or redeemable for cash and cannot be used towards the purchase of another gift card"

So they don't really enforce this I take it?

    • A cashier at WW refused when I asked to do this (ie. buy a plastic giftcard using a WW egiftcard). The supervisor backed her up so it didn't work for me. I guess it depends on how strict the individual store is in training staff on enforcing this policy. So nothing is guaranteed.

I have since bought several plastic giftcards for other stores (David Jones, JB Hi-Fi, etc) at the self checkout terminal with no problems as these have set values ($50, $100) so don't require staff activation.

However I recently tried to buy a plastic Wish giftcard at self checkout in Big W (I was planning to pay with a WW egiftcard). The assistant told me she could not activate it for me on the self checkout terminal, they can only sell Wish giftcards at staffed checkout. I walked out without buying. So again nothing is guaranteed.

A security warning: I just noticed that Woolworths stores your credit card details in their 'account' after the purchase.

The problem that creates: so far I considered my Entertainment book account something not really worth protecting, so I used a fairly simple password. But with that password it is now possible to get back to Woolworths and to order as many giftcards as the credit limit on the stored card will allow. If someone first changes the email address associated with the Entertainment book account I will not find out until I get the credit card bill.

Solution: remove your credit card details from the Woolworths account after every purchase!

    • it doesn't store the CVV which you habve to enter in the checkout next time you want to purchase
