$1244 & up -- Return Delta Flights to New York City until 2016 Via Bestjet

120

Just saw the deal from Travelzoo and thought I'll share.

I am looking to travel to US later this year so this may come handy!!

Hope it is useful for other Ozbargainers!!

Details from Travelzoo site

Flight prices to New York City have just dropped to some of the lowest we've seen in almost two years. Travelzoo Deal Experts found the best prices through Bestjet who are offering fares from just $1244 return including tax. This saves around 35% off what other carriers are currently charging.

Fly to New York (JFK) on Delta from the following cities (return inc tax):

Sydney … now $1244
Melbourne … now $1245
Brisbane … now $1247
Travel dates: We found the best availability from October 6 until December 10, and from January 12 until March 31, 2016.

Other options: For just $50 more, travel on select dates in May 1-31 and from July 7 until September 10.

Book by March 27.

About the airline: Delta flies 1-stop to New York from Australia with a stopover in Los Angeles on most flights. Unlike some carriers, guests can check up to two bags (max 23kg per bag) and tickets include all meals and in-flight entertainment.

About New York: Expect temperatures of between 10-15 degrees from October to mid-December. These dates are good for spotting the Christmas lights in Manhattan and for nabbing a bargain in the post-Thanksgiving sales. Temperatures usually drop even further between January and March, meaning the chance of snow is relatively high. While the weather is cold, these months are also great for finding hotel and activity deals due to fewer tourists.

  • Dec-Feb is a really bad time to go to NYC (freezing) sub zero. Would stick to West coast (LA/VEGAS) and hit up NYC when the temp heats up

I've spent a fair bit of time in NYC in those months and loved it every time. Each to their own, I guess.

Depends on the year but I have friends that live there and this year was so cold it was practically a write off.

I agree. Wind chill is no (profanity) joke.

  • just need to make sure that the planes have individual tvs for the leg out of Oz to LAX, otherwise you will be watching the screens in the middle of plane

December is often OK, mostly storms in say Jan-Feb - the opposite of us - hot in Jan-March.

  • bah..thanks a lot! lol. Was contemplating Thailand around that time, but now considering this but with Qantas ($1350 mel-jfk 12/1-27/1), as it is mel-lax on the A380 and lax-jfk on a 747
