Is it worth to travel to orange boy country at the moment?

    • +5

If you went to Rally with your Flag this weekend, NO. Stay in Australia. No Aussies will serve you overseas. You might get tantrums if the restaurant Chef is an Italian.

      Edit: I didn't negged you.

      • -4

Think you don't quite understand the groups you're talking about bro.

      • +1

I have doubts that those who went to rally yesterday would comment on ozbargain or even aware of ozb. Anyway, USA is Usa, whoever is the president makes zero effect on you. If they wanna stop you, they will stop you in 2029 when there’s a new president.

        • -2

I saw a lot of men with no teeth in the rally, wondered what sort of crowd that is.

          • +3

            @npnp: Collingwood football club?

          • +1

            @npnp: It's not a crowd, it's a huge family gathering;-)

        • they will stop you in 2029 when there’s a new president.

          Are you sure?

          Trump 2028
          https://www.trumpstore.com/product/trump-2028-hat/

    • +2

It's the USA no matter who the president is.

    • -2

I would rather wait till homeless take over the country

    • +1

been over numerous times this year (work sadly), it's still the US for the most part. As long as you don't have a big anti trump sentiment publicly available on social media you should be fine imo.

      • +1

it's still the US for the most part.

        Not really.

As long as you don't have a big anti trump sentiment publicly available on social media you should be fine imo.

The most part was always the idea of being free to say anything esp. about the government.

    • +2

Only if you don't like $$$. Stupidly expensive.

    • -6

Safer than when the border was open and South/Central America were sending all their criminals there.

  • +2

Excellent deal but I have no more days off! Need to quit job to travel again

    • What about leave without pay? Is that something that you can access?

    • +2

I've got plenty of days left to take off, but no money!

  • +6

Thanks op. I’m flying this week thanks to your previous deal. Never thought I would but why not. If it turns out good I’ll buy the same route again…. years later.

  • +17

any RTW tickets that do Canada instead of the US?

    • +1

Can't see many at this price. You could land in LAX fly to Calgary or Vancouver, spend a few days in mountains and fly to NY and then onwards, or alternatively go to Mexico from LAX and then onto NY.

    • apparently new york to montreal canada is only 5 hours drive by car or bus

  • +2

Thanks OP! Love your deals. Any chance of Canada instead of US and London instead of Barcelona?

  • Great price. Good luck to people have the time.

  • I dont get this. You dont really get to spend time in some of the places? Whats the point of flying hours and not seeing anything?

    • +9

You dont really get to spend time in some of the places?

      What are talking about?
I clicked on a couple of examples and it was 10 days Japan, 2 weeks US, 2 weeks Europe. Pretty sure that is long enough to see things
You can always tweak the dates if you want to stay different amounts of time.

  • +5

Aren't the timezones more manageable flying westwards? Surely these flights can be done in the reverse order? Wonder how that affects the prices

    • +3

Seems to be Economy (N) / Economy Value for the flights.

Just as easy to search directly on google.com.au/flights or singaporeair.com.au and do a Multi City trip.

It's really just an open-jaw to JFK from Australia, with the return back from BCN or MXP, and a stopover both ways in LAX and NRT. (and a couple of overland segments)

Roughly the same prices either westbound or eastbound, if you can find the flights.

  • +1

Thanks OP, think its time to pull the trigger on this trip. Now to get VISA sorted :)

    • +10

Get a HSBC Star alliance credit card for free lounge access. Gold status.

  • +11

Wouldn't ever fly to US for a long time if ever again, even as a connecting flight, not worth the risk.

    • I'd visit US again if I get a chance (been there twice already, country is massive, there's awful lot to see). I'm definitely not a fan of US government, their arrogant attitude, homeless on streets, gun culture, idiotic foreign policy, and some average to low IQ people (who obviously voted for Trump) but the country has a lot more to offer than those negative stuff. I'd usually rent a car and would drive into the middle of the country where no dramas, less chances to getting killed but more breathtaking scenery.

      • +4

Different country now, no one is safe there not even their own. Plenty of less insane places go visit, as somone with European background, yeah nah, i know where that shit is going.

Plus my phone has numerous JD Vance memes, too many to find and delete.

        • +2

Lol gotta watch out for those JD memes!

      • +3

It's Nazi USA now. DO NOT SUPPORT.

  • risk of?

    • -7

      risk of?

Dude has been consuming a steady diet of media fearmongering and is now afraid of his own shadow.
Imagine been too afraid to travel and explore new places because the man on the TV/Internet old you to be afraid of everything. Kids these days…

    • +1

Risk of being arrested at the border by trump-fueled morons.

It’s happened to multiple Australians in the past 6 months.

      Just avoid it

  • Wait, this is another round the world, but find your own way for some cities ( LA to NYC - Frankfurt to Barcelona ).

    Not a bad deal though.

  • When does this deal ends? Need to plan the next holidays and time off from work

  • +1

Standard "lufty" fare been on offer for over 20 yrs. Every travel agent gets trained on it when new and if you need something like this go in store and talk to a travel agent to make it work for you.

Check to see which legs are operated on a Lufthansa aircraft and not SQ.

    • Why lufty? Lufthansa?

    • Always good to check; avoids the jaw drop upon discovering the tiny seat pitch with a generous serving of attitude that Lufthansa are well known for

      • My sister and her husband flew Lufthansa assuming it to be a full service airline like Qantas and British Airways.

Imagine their surprise, when they were asked to pay for their checked in baggage at Check in.

  • +10

LAX is one of the worst airports to in the world to have to arrive at, and now possibly get sent home by MAGA

    • +1

Wear a MAGA cap and you'll get priority service

  • This is so tempting, between cities can I decide on length and/or time?
so for example, less days in tokyo and LA, more time in Europe.
I am expecting it being customizable but it will increase costs.

  • -4

People make it out like the USA only recently got the power to force you to unlock your device or send you packing. It's not a recent thing and you should only visit with clean devices otherwise you're giving them everything about you on a silver platter.

    • -8

People make it out like the USA only recently got the power to force you to unlock your device or send you packing.

These people get their reality from Tiktok. It's like border control is a completely new concept to them.
I got bounced out of China once for not having the correct paperwork, and I once got stripped searched here coming home because of some suspect visits to South America. Because that is exactly how border control is supposed to work, they are there to screen entry for suspicious behaviour, not just open up the borders to anybody and everybody because you feel entitled to it.

      • +8

Checking your personal devices is a lot different to kicking someone out because they are too stupid to do the correct paperwork, Mr 1st Amendment!

        • -7

Checking your personal devices is a lot different…

It's all border control and none of it is new. That is the point you seem to be missing
They have been doing this for decades in every country, but TDS makes people believe in crazy ideas, like that this method of screening was only invented yesterday.

          • +2

@1st-Amendment: Did TDS make you mess up basic immigration paperwork? And does TDS encourage you to spam this deal thread with inane comments? You've got a bad case of The Donalds Mr 1st Amendment!

          • @1st-Amendment: The first amendment wasn't written to be admired by bootlickers.

            • -2

              @JohnHowardsEyebrows:

The first amendment wasn't written to be admired by bootlickers.

It's like border control is a completely new concept to them…

              • @1st-Amendment: Border controls of democracies have always had the power to search devices, and focused on suspected illegal activity. Simply saying nasty things about the political leaders of the day has never been a part of it. But keep licking that orange man's boot. He even gave you TDS to bat away any criticism of him.

                • -5

                  @JohnHowardsEyebrows:

Simply saying nasty things about the political leaders of the day

Sounds like someone's being swallowing media lies yet again. Could you give us an example if where this happened using credible sources rather than click-bait headlines?

Go on, let's test your theory, where are all these examples where this happened? Let's see what is closer to reality. And if it turns out that you have no credible examples, would you ever admit you were fooled?

        • The ABF can search your phone.

          • -1

@Spendmore: Yes, and deny you entry if you are critical of Albanese. Or Morrison. Or Dan Andrews.

            • @calcium: I'm not familiar on what they look for or what the consequences are. I do know they can look at your phone though.

              • -1

                @Spendmore:

I'm not familiar on what they look for or what the consequences are

All border control in all countries have the right to refuse entry if they deem you not suitable, this shouldn't be a difficult concept for people to understand.
What they look for is reasons or evidence of why you might be intending to breach your visa conditions (eg incorrect visa, working on holiday visa, potentially intended to overstay, smuggle contraband etc), and the consequences are fines, detention, or deportation.
This is how border control has worked for decades. It's like some people here were born yesterday and have no idea how things work.

      • No one "stripped searched" you in Australia. Why lie and be that guy

  • +1

I thought round the world means every flight included. If you have to make your own way to a few destinations yourself, kinda annoying.

  • +6

Tempting but the US leg puts me off a bit. If the US border control deny entry it's going to severely jeopardize the whole trip!

  • From experience, is a 50 minute transfer in Changi airport enough to get across to your other flight along with your luggage?
Adelaide to Tokyo leg is showing only 50 minutes in transfer. Been awhile since I transferred through Singapore so interested to know. Thanks!

    • +1

There’s a risk your checked bags won’t make it. Particularly if your first flight is delayed.

  • Awesome deal!

Though, I'm going to have to stick to my plan for 2weeks in Kansai Region, Japan first… wife has never been home alone looking after the property and the pug whilst juggling work so 1month+ could be pushing it. Will see how she goes for 2 weeks first.

Guess, I'm gonna have to set up alerts for flight discounts like these.

  • Been to Japan.. Any other destination we can replace Japan with?

  • @IWantThatFlight

Can these be booked direct with singapore airlines?

Can't seem to get them using their website unless I'm missing something. Would rather avoid an OTA for a flight this complex.
