  • my kid loves these. they are a great idea. much better than cards and stickers IMO

  • haha yeh,

at the start, i spent only $3.50 in store and the checkout operator gave me a handful (5) dominoes. and my daughter loved them like nothing else?!!! (don't get it). great marketing campaign i suppose :S

anyway, if you cared, you can look at it 2 ways:
    1) buy all the cheapest items in that list to maximise dominoes per $1
    2) or buy the specials in that list (which is what they want you to do)

but either way they're probably not going to be the best value items compared to similar products (note: unsubstantiated cynical statement).

  • (raise hands) Yes I'm also a dominoes victim, my little one goes nuts every time we shop, and just seems to be addicted to that stuff… :(

  • Wondered why my little one wanted Woolworths chicken thighs tonight. Followed my Yoplaint and mini cokes and water to wash it down.

    • Sounds like a cool little OzBargainer you have there!

  • Got 16 from one box and got 6 buzz light years grrr

    • +2

At least you only got 6 and not infinity or beyond…

  • I work at woolworths, if you ask one of the guys on the floor if they have some spare out the back they can have, if you've found a nice guy they will get some for you/your kid for free. We're told to treat them as cash but lets face it, they're just dominoes. If you need some just ask politely

    • Does this work for other things you are supposed to treat as cash? For instance… cash? :)

The full set of 44 plus album are going for around $200 on ebay. I suggest there is some serious insider selling going on here. Much like with the various Animal Cards WW has released in the past.

      • +2

Technically, a full set would be 1232 tiles. (44 characters x 28 domino tiles). It looks like people are just collecting one each of the characters.

      • Tell me about it. How can a regular shopper accumulate 5 complete sets of 44 characters??? Definitely insider operations

        • It's EASY, buy 44 twiggy sticks x5 individually

(Also, the hot ones are half the size and therefore half the cost)

      • "The full set of 44 plus album are going for around $200 on ebay."

Some clown may be hoping to get that, but that is no indication of what they're actually "going for"; which is about $70:

        http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2015-WOOLWORTHS-DISNEY-PIXAR-DOMI…

Even that surprises me though, given that the dominoes can be gotten for free, especially if you have a cute kid/ aren't too shy to ask some yuppy in the line ahead of you with a big shop if they collect the dominoes etc.

        • Just checked ebay and one clown actually sold x2 $150 for a complete set of 44 characters. That's money for nothing!

        • @downero:

As I said its employees flogging them off. No way one could have a "complete set" on the day when they were available. But the ebay auctions reflect this…

I guess its in Woolworths culture to sell/give the "good stuff" to staff. Remember the DSE Staff Sales? :P

      • well shit, thanks for the idea ;)

    Should this be a forum post? I don't think it's a bargain.

  • I spent 20$ and instead of getting 1 they lady gave me 7 anyways.. they seem to be throwing these away!

  • This belongs in the forums, it is a promotion, not a bargain…

  • Last week's bonus brands included Kleenex. I bought 60 boxes of tissues, collected 1 domino per box and then returned them to the store for a refund because I had "changed my mind".
    Worked perfectly.

I'm planning to do the same this week with bottles of Finish Rinse Aid.

    • lol wtf what did they say when you tried to refund 60 boxes of tissues?

    • Troll. How many trolleys do you need for that.

      • Not a troll. It's fact. They were travel packs of tissues. $1.46 per pack. It filled 4 shopping bags. I carried it on the bus in two hands.

        • Ok. You did say boxes.

  • I felt a bit stupid/embarrassed and I suspect they worked out what I was doing but their policy says they will

"cheerfully refund the purchase price where you have simply changed your mind and you return the product to us unopened, in its original packaging and with clear proof of purchase"

so they didn't really have a choice.

    • They didn't ask for the return of the dominoes? They should have.

      • I thought they may have but they didn't. I figure they can't be certain that I took the dominoes on purchase, some people do refuse them when they ask.

        • Maybe. They usually initial the receipt to show that dominoes were handed over.

        • @ChiefAJ:
I get the dominoes all the time, and have never had my receipt initialed. Never seen them do this for anyone else either.

        • @GnarlyKnuckles: It might be just my local store that do it - I must live in an untrustworthy suburb :).

They have done it for all of the collectible series, not just the dominoes one.
